Chapter 366 - Chapter 366: The Fiendfyre in Draco’s Hands

The mysterious Vampire, walking in shadows, carries the fatal weaknesses shared by all dark creatures. The mighty Giant, strong and resistant to magic, still suffers from its lack of intellect. In this world, no being is truly invincible...

Weaknesses, natural enemies, flaws—these things form the balance that keeps the magical world stable.

Naturally, even a Thunderbird, a creature that commands the forces of nature and seems to have no natural predators, possesses a deadly weakness. Just like every beast in existence...

"It fears fire."

"Fire? But there's a problem—how do you cast a fire spell in rain like this?"

Draco's words made Fleur give their surroundings a strange look. Compared to the beginning of the match, the enraged Thunderbird seemed to have intensified the downpour even further...

While magic does include powerful fire spells like Incendio, even such charms depend heavily on the environment. Simply casting them doesn't guarantee effectiveness.

Put simply, spells that conjure fire out of thin air cannot function in water. And in a storm like this—even if you managed to cast one—it wouldn't have enough power to harm anything. The rain might extinguish the flames the instant they appeared.

As an outstanding student of Beauxbatons, Fleur naturally understood this.

Realizing all this, the anxious Fleur began trying to figure out how to make use of this crucial information.

"Stop the rain... No, that's even harder than a fire spell. Then… increase the magical output? No, no, no, even then, hitting a Thunderbird would still be nearly impossible."

She paced in place, muttering nonstop. One second she shook her head in rejection, the next she nodded as if convincing herself. The sight gave her an unexpected cuteness she didn't normally show.

Perhaps this flustered, girlish side really was the true Fleur Delacour.

And Fleur didn't even notice that her earlier idea—having their Headmaster intervene—had somehow shifted into racking her brain for ways to help Draco defeat the Thunderbird.

All of it because of that pale-gold figure ahead of her.

Nothing seemed capable of toppling that confident, composed back. And without realizing it, that presence had begun to influence the Beauxbatons witch as well...

She finally stopped pacing, murmuring softly as though something had come to her—yet hesitation held her back.

"Unless..."

The stands.

Slytherin House section.

"Unless it's—the Fiendfyre Curse!"

"Pestis—"

"Incendium!"

Before Pansy could process Hermione's words, Draco's voice—quiet yet resonant enough to shake the entire stadium—reached her ears.

All the wizards stared blankly at the unfolding spectacle.

The commentator hosting the match went silent once more.

The flames that suddenly dyed the sky red offered not a shred of warmth to the wizards. Instead, they brought a strange, icy chill.

Danger.

Their instincts warned them, trembling souls compelling everyone to revere these flames.

For this was profoundly dangerous dark magic...

"The Fiendfyre Curse... it actually appeared."

Hermione instinctively shrank her small head, her gaze fixed on the flame's center, revealing obvious worry and tension.

Among the young wizards present, Hermione was likely one of the most familiar with such dark magic.

She had nearly been struck by the Fiendfyre Curse herself, cast by the wizard who had clashed with her and Draco in that girls' bathroom at Myrtle.

Though Lockhart hadn't actually cast the Fiendfyre Curse then, the deeply troubled Hermione had later researched this devastating dark magic.

And such dark magic was indeed perfectly suited to a madman like Lockhart.

"Granger, you seem to know a lot about... this Fiendfyre spell?" Pansy frowned, glancing at the battlefield growing hazy as rain evaporated, obscuring the details. She took a moment to ask Hermione.

Compared to her own sketchy understanding of the Fiendfyre, Pansy trusted the walking encyclopedia beside her knew more about this dark magic...

...

Fiendfyre.

Originator: Unknown.

Date of Origin: Unknown.

Cursed and immensely powerful, it is a magical fire that grows ever stronger. Once summoned, it relentlessly pursues and consumes all combustible matter indiscriminately, friend or foe. Only a counter-curse can extinguish this dangerous flame.

This unique property makes it impossible to extinguish easily, unless all combustible material is removed from its vicinity.

Consequently, the Fiendfyre Curse—which cannot be easily destroyed and readily causes widespread devastation—is classified as dark magic.

Naturally, the Fiendfyre Curse unleashed by Draco blazed fiercely even in this downpour.

Water was useless, rain was useless, and the torrential storm summoned by the Thunderbird was utterly ineffective at extinguishing it...

...

All she could see was a sea of crimson.

The terrifying heat consumed everything around them.

Standing within this inferno felt like the apocalypse had arrived.

At the very heart of the flames, Fleur's slightly pale face was now covered in cold sweat. Her small hands had unconsciously clutched Draco's robes, as if not doing so would mean being devoured by the terrifying fire surrounding them...

This was the Fiendfyre!

"...A Fire Curse? Has he mastered even such profound dark magic...?"

Stammering, Fleur understood clearly that they weren't being consumed by the intense heat solely because of Draco.

Had he not fully controlled this Fiendfyre, these unrestrained flames would have incinerated their bodies first.

Not the crystallizing earth and rock around them, nor the trees and plants instantly reduced to charcoal...

Silently edging closer to Draco, Fleur suddenly thought of something.

Namely.

"But even if the flames are summoned, how can they possibly strike the Thunderbird soaring in the sky?"

Fleur muttered to herself, not expecting her question to be answered.

Until.

After even the evaporating mist failed to survive the extreme heat, Fleur finally saw clearly everything before her, and found the answer she sought.

It was... a colossal fire dragon formed from the Fiendfyre flames.

This equally immense flame dragon roared silently toward the Thunderbird.

Fleur stiffened, lifting her head to stare at the scene before her.

"I've fully mastered... the Fiendfyre Curse."

This was.

Fiendfyre, in a mimicked form…
