It is an interesting question...
What were to happen if someone from Earth went into a place where gods walked among the common folk? What would happen if this person knew the future of this fantastical world from a video game and was placed in a version of it where events spiraled far out of control?
Well, is that not how most isekai fanfiction go? Take a person from our world who was either unhappy with their lives or suffered some sort of injustice in their earthly lives and grant them powers that defy reason for their new life. You see it in fanfiction with Potterheads (fans of JK Rowling's Wizarding World) getting the chance to go to Hogwarts and some fans of J. R. R. Tolkien's work get to go adventures with Bilbo or Frodo.
However, what about a video game that first started with a young indie game developer wanting to play a computer game? A game that first started with three brothers that soon grew into a big game brand that spanned over two and a half decades?
This story is not like most isekai fanfictions. This is a story about a man who is given a chance to save a world from destruction, yet has a far greater purpose to fulfill.
No magical One Ring to deal with nor an old man hellbent to conquer death by splitting his soul. There even isn't an old man who deceives an entire galaxy-wide civilization into an Empire to deal with.
Yet there be gods here. Gods that have changed an entire world's history for the worse and left a continent scarred forever. Where runestones are made to give humanity an edge by a god who loved balance.
Where Elder Gods can unmake reality itself and threaten all life as they desire.
And all that can defend a world from these threats?
A single man from another universe.
