The portal light flashed, and Thornak and Kael stumbled into the castle courtyard.
Everything was quiet. The garden was empty, and no guards were around.
Thornak felt a warm rush inside him — his wolf was back. His leg began to heal quickly, and the pain was gone.
He could hear Jax's voice in his head, worried and confused.
What happened? Why does it feel like I slept through a storm, and why are you wounded?
Kael ran ahead, shouting for the guards. "The king has returned! Someone, come quickly!"
When the guards finally arrived, Thornak was already standing strong. Having his wolf back caused him to heal faster.
He didn't stop to talk. He ran straight to Lara's room.
But when he pushed the door open...
The room was empty.
Meanwhile far away from the grand halls of the Lycan castle, in her small, quiet village wrapped in morning mist, Lara opened her eyes.
She was home.
