Chapter 17 - Chapter 18: Wind Dragon Attacks

Chapter 18

Eula finished reading the book, and now she had only one thought in her mind: 'Lord Barbatos has returned. Can he forgive Lawrence's sins?'

"Eula, are you going back to monitor the Fatui?" Amber asked.

"No hurry. I'll go back to the city with you first to deal with Dvalin's attack," Eula shook her head.

She was the captain of the guerrilla squad, so the task of monitoring the Fatui was not hers alone.

Her subordinates were still monitoring the Fatui, and they would report any situation to her.

"Alright," Amber nodded.

The group was not far from Mondstadt City now and would arrive in Mondstadt today.

Meanwhile, in Mondstadt City, Barbara finally finished reading the book her sister had sent her during her free time.

"Lord Barbatos, have you finally returned?" Barbara placed her hands on her chest, full of piety.

Lord Barbatos had just returned to Mondstadt and helped them resolve the Dragon Disaster. He truly lived up to his name as the Anemo Archon; he was always so reliable.

"Sister Rosaria, hurry and pray with me," Barbara looked at Rosaria.

Rosaria had originally intended to run, but Barbara forcibly dragged him back.

"Alright, alright, Batobas... Basbato...?

"Who was it? Never mind, just Batobas. Lord Batobas, welcome back."

"It's Barbatos!"

...

On the other side, in Liyue, although a day late, Xiangling, Xingqiu, and others also received Lin Qiu's letter and book.

They were all Hu Tao's good friends, and Lin Qiu, as Hu Tao's close subordinate, naturally had a lot of contact with them.

Having eaten Fontaine's dark cuisine, even the experimental dishes Xiangling had made before became delicious to Lin Qiu now.

So, in his letter to Xiangling, Lin Qiu wrote a sentence that left Xiangling puzzled.

'Missing you, my dear Xiang.'

The letters to Xingqiu and Chongyun were much more normal, simply reporting his safety.

As for Lin Qiu's book, currently only Xingqiu and Chongyun were interested. They didn't know it was a prophecy book; they simply read it as a story.

Xiangling wasn't very interested in such adventure stories, but Chongyun was very interested in adventure stories, while Xingqiu was very interested in Lin Qiu's imagination.

The next few days passed uneventfully. After arriving in Mondstadt, the Traveler and his companions finally got a good night's sleep.

However, the Traveler herself had no time to rest because she had to cover Paimon's 30,000 Mora monthly food expenses, so Lumine could only go out day and night to do commissions.

(Because the purchasing power of Mora has been changed, the amount has also been changed.)

From eradicating Hilichurl Kings to helping people find cats, as long as the price was right, Lumine accepted without hesitation.

The good news was that Lumine could teleport using Waypoints, so once she had visited Mondstadt and activated a Waypoint, it was much easier to return later.

Because of this ability, the Traveler was practically the best tool for hire; she worked for money and was incredibly fast.

If it were other adventurers, they might still be on their way to the mission location, but the Traveler would have already teleported back to turn in the quest.

Her professional ability was so strong that some people would even consult astrologers to find the Traveler's location, specifically to give her commissions.

"Lumine! Paimon!"

Amber waved with a smile, with Eula following beside him; they had just returned from clearing out monsters outside the city.

Amber hadn't left Mondstadt City far during this period, only conducting reconnaissance around Mondstadt City.

Her work involved checking for signs of Dvalin and clearing out any approaching Hilichurls.

Eula was temporarily assigned the task of preventing Dvalin's attack. He hadn't even left the city much during this time, only occasionally going out with Amber.

He said that if Amber got into trouble outside, he wouldn't be able to get his revenge.

"It's Amber and Eula! Hello!" Paimon waved back.

As they spent more time together, their relationship grew better and better, and Lumine and Paimon also got used to Eula's way of speaking.

"Did you just finish a commission? Do you want to go eat Sticky Honey Roast? My treat," Amber smiled.

"Really!?" Paimon immediately got starry eyes. "Sticky Honey Roast! I want to eat it!"

"Paimon... why do you look like I'm abusing you and not feeding you?" Lumine rubbed her forehead.

"No way! It's just that when someone else treats you, doesn't it feel like it tastes different?" Paimon explained.

Lin Qiu would deeply empathize with this point if he were here; even if he had money, he still preferred the feeling of being treated by others.

"Little darlings, I think your lunch plans will have to be put on hold for now," Lisa's appearance interrupted the chattering group.

"What's wrong, Lisa... big sister?" Paimon asked.

Before Lisa could speak, Kaeya slowly walked out from behind her and explained.

"Lisa just detected Dvalin's power. I think he's coming."

Next to Kaeya were Jean, Noelle, Barbara, and others. It could be said that everyone in the city who possessed a Vision had come.

Except for Klee, she was in solitary confinement.

The other Knights were evacuating the crowd. The Mondstadters trusted the Knights of Favonius and obediently returned to their homes.

Even the Fatui realized something was wrong and ran back to Goth Grand Hotel. At this moment, the vast Mondstadt City began to grow quiet.

And in the shadows of an alley, the Darknight Hero Diluc was silently watching, arms crossed.

At Angel's Share, Venti lay on the bar, pretending to sleep, but was actually preparing to lend a hand.

"He's coming." No sooner had Lisa's words fallen than the roar of a dragon already echoed.

It was too fast. When Lisa detected Dvalin's location, he was still quite a distance from Mondstadt City, but while everyone was talking, Dvalin had already arrived!

The evacuation of citizens hadn't been completed, and the whirlwind created by Dvalin was already swirling through Mondstadt.

The group quickly sprang into action.

"Freeze!" Kaeya directly froze the whirlwind into ice and then shattered it.

Lisa, with her exquisite elemental control, used Electro power to shatter the whirlwind before it could even fully form.

Jean was the most adept; a gentle wind swept across the entire area, protecting citizens from DMG while also neutralizing the violent whirlwinds, making them vanish without a trace.

"Roar!" Dvalin's figure appeared above their heads.

With Dvalin's appearance, the whirlwinds grew even more violent, turning into towering tornadoes that reached the heavens.

"Is this the power of the East Wind Guardian?" Jean exclaimed.

But the West Wind Guardian would not lose to the East Wind Guardian!

"Wind, answer me!" Jean held her longsword upright before him, as if making an oath.

A gentle wind Swirled outwards. Even though those tornadoes possessed world-destroying power, they could not break through the barrier of this gentle wind.

The terrifying tornadoes, upon contact with the wind barrier, slowly calmed down and returned to being a gentle breeze in nature.

But there were too many tornadoes. Jean alone, even if exhausted, couldn't stop them. Fortunately, the West Wind Guardian was never just one person.

"Solid Ice! Sever the Deep Grudge!" Eula's voice rang out, and a cold wind blew.

Eula unleashed a sword strike, and the cold wind, wrapped in sword energy, directly sliced two whirlwinds in half, dispersing the wind with a single blow.

The sword light's momentum did not diminish and actually struck towards Dvalin.
