Chapter 1 - Chapter 1-Passive system

When it happened, I wish I could say I got it together, became OP, and ruled the world. But that's not what happened.

Confused, wondering what I'm talking about? Let me start from the beginning.

---

The sun was hot on my skin. The wind stung my face, and the surface under me was hard and rough. It hurt.

I sat up, half asleep, and blearily opened my eyes. When I finally registered my surroundings, my heart started racing. My breathing came fast. I was in a huge desert. The ground was dry and cracked, with dead bushes and tall cactuses around me.

I started to panic internally. I started to tear up, not just from the harsh wind and sun, but from fear. Before I could lose it, a translucent screen popped up in front of me. I wiped my teary eyes, sniffling as I looked at the screen.

I scanned the screen again and again.

"No, no, no, no, that can't be it. I need answers," I whispered, panic rising in my voice.

I tried to do something—anything to the screen.

"Where am I? Please, tell me what's going on. Tell me something."

My breath quickened. I tried to calm it, but my body shook. Tears welled up, spilling over as I started to sob.

"I want to go home."

---

As tears ran down my face as I curled up on the rough ground, sobbing even as the sun glared down and the wind stung my skin. I cried. My world had been shattered. My family and friends—gone. All alone in a strange new world.

After a while, I uncurled and sat up, sniffling. I wiped my face with the back of my hand. Taking a shaky breath, I calmed myself as my tears stopped flowing. Taking more breaths, I looked back at the system screen.

"I have nothing to lose," I croaked and pressed to begin.

---

The screen blinked, then shifted.

A simple map popped up, showing a red dot blinking in the middle of a wide, empty zone.

Above it, glowing text appeared:

**LOCATION:** Badlands, Night City Exclusion Zone

**DATE:** August 3, 2074

**TIME:** 14:46

**WORLD:** Cyberpunk

---

I stared at the screen, my heart racing and my stomach sinking.

Cyberpunk. TheCyberpunk. The one with guns, gangs, chaos, and death. And half-robot, half-human superhumans.

As I read the text again, all I could feel was dread. I didn't know anything about Cyberpunk. My mind was blank. I didn't know what to do or who was good.

No—wait, wait. I looked up at the screen and saw the \[SUMMONS MENU]. Taking a shaky breath, I reached out and tapped it.

The screen changed, and an empty button appeared on the screen. At the bottom, in grey text, it read:

**\[FREE PULL – 2 AVAILABLE]**

*Random items. Passive only.*

I looked for anything else, but there was only the button and the words.

I let out a frustrated sound.

"Damn it. I wish I had more time," I said.

But I didn't have much time. It was the afternoon, and I needed something—anything—to help me survive this hell I was in.

I sighed, then clasped my hands together.

"Please, please, please, whoever or whatever higher power is up there, please give me something good," I begged.

I pressed the button.

It didn't even take a second before I heard a ding. Curious, I leaned toward the screen, crossing my fingers.

I checked—my eyes widened in shock and my jaw dropped.

"What the fuck," I cursed, staring at the first passive item I got.
