Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

As the car drove off, Lucy looked back, waving at Tia with her eyes blinded with tears. She finally stopped looking back when she was out of sight.

"He looked into your background and paid your stepmom to gain full custody of you so I suggest that you come down to his villa right after you leave the restaurant," He told her before ending the call.

-------------

"What is so special about this girl that you have decided to bring her down to the villa as your person waitress?" Wendy, Chris McCormick 's mom, asked, sipping her coffee.

"I am yet to figure it out mom and that is obviously why I am sharing it with you," he answered truthfully.

"But whatever it is, I want her to pay for ruining my new pants," he said, in a determined voice.

"Or is it that my son has finally fallen in love after so many years?" She gasped on hearing him.

"Come on mom!" He exclaimed, raising his hands up in the air.

"You know I am right son or is she just pretty?" Susan asked.

"I really do not care about all that, mom" He answered.

"I am looking forward to meeting the new waitress and young, pretty lady that has captured the heart of my son that he dreams of her literally every night," she said, tiptoeing to the door.

"I hope to see her at dinner," she said, peering her head into his study as she was outside.

"Mom!" He called weakly.

"Bye." She said before quietly closing the door.

"Looking forward to seeing you too, Lucy," He said, bringing out his phone to stare at her picture.

"Lorenzo!" He called.

"Yes, Mr McCormick," He answered as soon as she entered into the room.

"See to it that Lucy is brought home straight from work," He ordered without looking up from his phone.

"I will do as you have instructed, Sir." Lorenzo responded before waking out of the room.

"It is time to go prepare for dinner," He told himself and headed out of his study.

----------

She looked through window, watching how the car sped past malls, restaurants and cars, wishing Tia was here with her. She placed her head against the window and closed her eyes.

"We are here, Lucy." Mr McCormick's assistant said to her, tapping her..

"Huh?" she mumbled, rubbing sleep off her eyes to see where they were.

"My goodness!" she whispered in admiration. She felt like she was in paradise or an ancient wonderland.

"Please do come down from the car, Mr. McCormick is expecting you," He said, jolting her out of her daze.

"Ohh, apologizes," she quickly came out of the car when she bumped her head into the door.

"Ouch!" she said, rubbing her head in pain.

"You know you could actually try to be less clumsy and well organized," Lorenzo said, with his hands folded behind him.

"I am sorry but I am not usually like this," she explained.

"I do not know why all of this is suddenly happening to me today," she added.

"Maybe all you need do is calm down and compose yourself more," he advised, shutting the door.

"I will try, thank you." she said, and walked behind him.

Lucy could not help but look around as they walked into the house. There was a fountain that had a beautiful sculpture of a pretty woman who had a huge smile on her face, her hands were stretched out and the water came from them.

The floor was so neat and well interlocked, the huge house stood at the center of the compound and one could tell that Mr. McCormick was really rich.

Her eyes turned and she also noticed the fleets of cars and power bikes that were well arranged and sparkling neat.

The lights were all out and gave more beauty and glory to the atmosphere

"This is paradise," she said to herself.

"Mr. McCormick does not bite as long as you do what is expected of you," Lorenzo spoke as he entered the passcode at the door.

"Okay," she replied, without even hearing what he had said.

"You do not have to keep looking around like a covetous thief, Lucy. You will be given a proper tour of the house," he said, calling her attention before opening the door.

"I am sorry, Mr.…" she quickly apologized, and kept quiet, not knowing what else to say.

"Is he always this insultive?" she asked herself.

"Or was I really looking around like a thief?" she asked myself again with her eyes glued to the floor, not wanting my eyes to dart around again.

"He wants to meet you in his study," Lorenzo said, checking his phone immediately it beeped.

"Does he know we are here?" she asked, unsure.

"There is nothing Mr McCormick does not see, Lucy, only if he wants to ignore or overlook," he chuckled.

The duo approached a staircase, and she was expecting that would take the stairs that were so beautiful with shining gold rails and sparkling white tiles but instead they walked towards an elevator.

"There is an elevator here?" she asked out loud.

"Quite a few," He turned his head sideways.

"You are yet to even see anything, Lucy." He added almost inaudibly but she heard him.

They got into the elevator that had transparent glasses at the sides which gave room to being able to see some parts of the house so well.

The elevator dinged open and they walked out, took a turn and stopped at a gigantic, jet black door that was cryptic enough to blend into the wall.

"We are here," He said to the door and it opened on its own as if it was being controlled by someone.

"Do not act so lost, Lucy. It has a voice recognition sensor and that is how the selected few get in and out of here," Lorenzo explained.

"Ohh!" she exclaimed, although shyly knowing that he had caught her.

The study had tall and huge bookshelves that had housed books of different genres. It was not the usual study with old, dusty and rusty books with an odd feeling and smell, it was an updated and very neat one with a pleasant and sweet smell.

"I see you are here," a voice said, making her look around to see who it was.

"I am here, you do not have to bother looking for me," the voice said again and it was no other person than Mr McCormick.

He looked so handsome in this casual V- shaped neckline too and shorts, with his hair neatly shaved and shining.

"Hello, Lucy." He said, standing before her.

"Good evening, sir." she greeted not knowing if she needed to bow or anything.

"I do not bite, miss." He chuckled lightly.

"Your nervousness is so glaring and I am sure you are very close to panicking and shaking,"

"I do not have much to say to you for now but you are invited to have dinner with my family and I in about an hour," He said, peering into his wristwatch.

"But..I.." she stammered, not sure how she should tell him she had no clothes she could wear.

"You will be meeting Grace soon, she is your assistant. She got you clothes and all that you will be needing," he said, like he read her mind.

"See this invitation to dinner as a little welcome party, it is tradition," he explained before picking up the book he had on the table before him.

"Thank you, sir." Lucy replied after a brief silence.

"And I am sorry about earlier," she apologized, fixing her eyes to the ground as she still felt ashamed of what had happened back at the restaurant.

"It is fine, Lucy."

"Afterall, you are here because of that." He added.
