Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 There is no future in gangs! (1 more)

"Inspector Megure! We have sealed off the area."

"At the scene, we found, we found a large quantity of firearms and 'flour'."

"And... and two survivors. Perhaps they might know what happened."

"... ... ... ..."

Mihua Wharf. The crime scene had been sealed off by the Police.

Miwako Sato was giving a situation report, her face extremely grim.

Nearly a hundred people had been blown to death at the scene!

With such a major incident, how could her expression be good?

As soon as she entered, she couldn't help but run to a corner and vomit.

Not only her, but even other experienced Criminal Police were nauseated by the bloody scene.

For a moment, the entire murder scene was filled with sounds of retching.

What they didn't know was that by vomiting, they had overlooked an important clue.

Inspector Megure's face was also terrifyingly serious.

Honestly, in all his years as a Criminal Police, he had never seen a scene like this before!

The brutality of this gang shootout was simply too extreme.

A hundred people dead!

They couldn't possibly suppress such news!

"Call those survivors over and see what exactly happened here!" Inspector Megure knew that this matter could no longer be ignored; it was too egregious!

"Understood!" Miwako Sato nodded, then turned to have someone bring the two survivors over.

Inspector Megure looked at the two survivors who were brought over. The long-haired man looked bewildered and at a loss, while the man with the buzz cut was filled with fear, his crotch area wet, faintly emitting a smell of urine. He immediately frowned.

He said in a deep voice, "What exactly happened here?"

The long-haired man shook his head, saying nervously, "I don't know! I really don't know what happened."

"We were in the middle of a transaction, but then an explosion suddenly occurred!"

"Before I even figured out what was happening, I was suddenly sent flying and then hit the ground and passed out!

"When I woke up, they... they were already dead! I really don't know anything!"

Inspector Megure looked at the long-haired man's head, where there were still some traces of congealed blood.

It seemed this guy was lucky.

When the explosion occurred, he was thrown by the blast, then hit the ground and passed out, saving his life.

Judging from the bullet wounds in the heads of the other corpses at the scene, Azu the Bandit had performed follow-up kills.

This guy just happened to be in Azu the Bandit's blind spot and escaped death.

He turned to the other man with the buzz cut and asked, "You should know something, right?"

The man with the buzz cut instinctively swallowed. After looking left and right, he said uneasily, "Um... Officer, could... could you give me a cigarette?"

Miwako Sato frowned. Just as she was about to say something, Inspector Megure stopped her and instead took out a cigarette and lit it for the man.

"Th-thank you." After thanking him, the man with the buzz cut quickly took the cigarette and started smoking.

After taking a few deep drags, the expression on his face calmed down a bit, but he was still somewhat uneasy.

After a moment of silence, he said, "When the attack happened, I immediately lay down and played dead."

"Midway, I secretly opened my eyes and saw the guy who attacked us!"

"But he was wearing a red mask that covered the upper half of his face, so I couldn't clearly see what he looked like!"

"This guy was very cautious. After clearing the area, he even performed follow-up kills... I saw that the situation wasn't right, so I secretly crawled away and hid!"

Miwako Sato's heart stirred upon hearing this. She immediately took out her phone, found the sketch of the killer drawn by Takagi Wataru, and handed it to the man, saying, "Is this what he looked like?"

The man with the buzz cut nodded repeatedly after seeing the photo: "Yes, that's exactly what he looked like! He also had an accomplice, a woman!"

"I overheard their conversation; the woman was the one who got the intelligence!"

"Also, the woman called this masked man Mr. Azu!!!"

Miwako Sato and Inspector Megure exchanged glances, both seeing a hint of joy in each other's eyes!

Finally, they had some useful information!

Inspector Megure eagerly asked, "What about the woman? Do you remember what she looked like?"

The man with the buzz cut gave a bitter smile and said, "I was afraid of dying, so I didn't dare to open my eyes at the time."

Inspector Megure was a bit disappointed. But then he thought that the man played dead because he was afraid of dying, which seemed reasonable!

He said, "Repeat their conversation."

The man with the buzz cut recalled for a moment, then recounted the general conversation between the two.

Upon hearing that Azu had not taken the firearms and 'flour' but had left them for the Police to handle, Inspector Megure felt as if there was something wrong with his ears!

He subconsciously glanced at Miwako Sato, and their eyes met.

Both of them were silent for a moment.

Finally, Inspector Megure said, "Alright, you go rest for a bit! Later, come back to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department with us to give a statement."

After the other Police took the man away, he then said to Miwako Sato, "Miwako, what do you think of this matter?"

"A gang war!" Miwako Sato easily defined the case. She said, "That killer named Azu was targeting those criminals!"

"He didn't take the firearms and 'flour', maybe because he didn't care for them, or maybe he was worried about being tracked."

"In short, this killer named Azu... is a very dangerous individual!"

"Judging from the previous incident and this one, he is extremely arrogant and completely disregards the Police."

Inspector Megure nodded and said, "It's pretty much what I thought. He is a dangerous individual!"

"He possesses highly destructive weapons and his methods are simple and brutal. He doesn't act like a killer at all; I see him more as a ruthless Azu the Bandit!"

"As for how this matter should be handled, let the higher-ups worry about it! I'm going to report to Superintendent Matsumoto now."

Saying that, he took out his phone and called Matsumoto Kiyonaga.

The next morning.

Baishi Hui went to school with a good mood.

After helping society eliminate a group of unstable elements, he felt his soul had been sublimated!

However, he searched various news websites and finally found the information only in an inconspicuous area.

"Last night at around 10 PM, a gang shootout occurred at Mihua Wharf."

That was the only sentence; there were no detailed contents, nor any pictures.

Baishi Hui understood the Police's attitude at a glance.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department simply didn't want to spend too much effort on gang shootouts.

They were already short-staffed, and Police officers were basically working year-round without rest. Just handling various cases was already tough enough; how could they spare time to deal with gang-related nonsense?

The matter didn't escalate, and the public didn't know about it.

The firearms and 'flour' were in the Police's hands, and the gang's financial backers had ways to "destroy" them.

Therefore, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department didn't care about the lives of gang members.

The financial backers behind the gangs also didn't care about the lives of gang members... If they died, they would just recruit more people.

Anyway, these people were just lost souls; their deaths were in vain.

This matter would simply end here.

Because of this, Baishi Hui became even more certain of his idea—being a gangster has no future!
