Emilia smiles at Yaku and asks him where he's from "you don't look like you'rs from around here" she says, Yaku hesitates because he's afraid she might hate southerners just like everyone else "I'm from the south hahaha" he says while scratching his head, she smiles again "I'd like to visit the south one day and help the people there" she says softly, Yaku is taken back by her words as it's rare to find people like her these days
She invites yaku inside the bakery because they will be closing shop in one hour, He sits defensless eating his loaf of bread just watching Emilia work, she starts to drag a sack of flower on the ground to put it away so Yaku immediately stands up and takes the sack off her hands, "you don't need to help me..." She says but yaku insists and he ends up moving lots of sacks and heavy stuff for her, he wipes the sweat off his forehead "phew that was alot" he says
After closing the shop, She offers Yaku water and tells him He can eat more left over bread and then she asks him for a favour, "say Yaku, can i ask something of you ?" She asks, Yaku nods his head giving her his answer, "well since you're from the south i guess you know how hard it is to be starving, i was expecting flower sacks from someone so we can make bread in secret and give it to the people in the outer circle of this city" she says
Yaku immediately stands up "was the person named bone?" He asks, "how did you know ? Did you meat him" she replies, Yaku looks to the ground, his voice trembling "he is dead, he died saving my life" Yaku responds, Emilia's eyes swell with tears, she wipes them off and says "bone helped feed thousands, he truly was a hero", Yaku blames himself for bones death and the news that bone was trying to feed hungry mouths hit Yaku even harder, He feels like he is responsible for everything
Emilia asks Yaku to accompany her to give all the left over bread to hungry people in secret, "12 loafs of bread aren't alot but they can help" Emilia says, They sneak up in the cloak of night and meet up with someone who takes the bread and they head back, On the way back they see a guard and he stops them "Hey what are you doing out so late at night" He asks, They're both flustered and don't know what to answer and Yaku is prepared to knock him out
Emilia responds "sorry me and my boyfriend were just out on a romantic date", "hahaha young love, i remember when i was your age, go home now, don't stay out that late" the guard answere, they both nod and continue heading back, they reach the bakery and Emilia looks at Yaku and his face has been red the whole way back ever since she said he was her boyfriend, even if it was a joke, it really played on his heart strings
Emilia tells Yaku that he can stay the night inside the bakery if he doesn't have anywhere to stay and he immediately accepts, she tells him that she will meet him tomorrow in the morning when she opens up the bakery, "tomorrow, please tell me more about what happened with bone" she requests from Yaku, Yaku accepts in a sad tone and so they both separate for the night
The sound of the bakery door being unlocked wakes Yaku up and he immediately reaches for his sword, "good morning mr southerner, rise and shine" Emilia says in an endearing way, Yaku stetches and yawns, They're both still a little tired because they didn't get much sleep yesterday because they were out giving food to the outer circle, "my meeting with the archive is tomorrow, maybe I'll just walk around the city today" yaku tells Emilia, "i never asked but what kind of magic can you do?" Emilia asks, Yaku shows her his sword reinforcement magic, He notices that she's not really impressed, "you don't seem impressed, i bet you also have something up your sleeves" Yaku tells her
She smiles and opens her palm and then green leaves and branches start appearing out of her palm, Yaku is impressed, Magic where physical element materialize is considered at least medium level, "my magic can heal and also i can transfer my own mana to people to reinforce their existing spells" she tells Yaku as green glowing leaves shine their faces, Yaku asks her to reinforce his spell, She touches his back and suddenly the mana on his sword turn from blue to cyan and it looks more calm and controlled, as if it was honed to another level, "wow, this is insane" Yaku says enthusiasticly, "but the biggest draw back is i can only reinforce your magic if im directly touching" Emilia tells him, "Her abilities are amazing" thinks yaku to himself, after that Yaku tells her everything about Bone and they both shed tears and cry remembering him
The furnace lights up as Emilia starts making bread, Yaku bids her farewell for now because he needs to explore more of the city, He walks around until he sees many noblemen cheering in a circle so he goes there to take a closer look, It looks like they're all cheering for 2 slaves fighting, It's a betting ring, The two slaves are all beat up, bruises all over their bodies, They look like they haven't eaten in days, The announcer shouts "The winner will get to eat lunch today, who will feast and who will starve", Yaku clinches his fists in anger but he can't do anything, he has too much to lose if he intervened now, one of the slaves gets knocked down and the other wins as the filthy noblemen cheer, Yaku cuts inside the circle and helps the knocked out man stand on his feet and tries to help him walk out, "Hey what are you doing ? This man belongs to me, get your hands off him" a fat rich nobleman orders Yaku, "can't you see that he's about to die? He needs help, he needs food" Yaku shouts back
Tomatos and trash gets flinged at Yaku and the other barely standing man, They insult and shout at them, treating them lesser than animals, The nobleman gets guards to take his slave from Yaku's hands but yaku refuses, The 2 guards order yaku to leave the nobleman's property or he will suffer consequences, Yaku still refuses so the two guards jump on him to try to seperate him and the slave, Yaku dodges and manages to put the slave on his shoulders and starts running, "stop, you will get in huge trouble, im considered property, you will go to prison for theft" the slave says in a broken hopeless voice, Yaku keeps on running trying to lose the guards "you are not property, you are a human being, you deserve to live, to laugh and to be loved" Yaku shouts as he keeps on running, The slave starts to cry and his tears roll of Yaku's shoulder, he doesn't even find words to answer yaku, they finally manage to lose the guards as yaku has taken roads into alley ways and managed to confuse them
Yaku sits the slave to the ground, "i know someone that can heal you, once things calm down a little we go to her" Yaku tells the slave, the slave keeps on crying as he has never been shown this much care before, "my name before i became a slave was crill" Crill tells Yaku with teary eyes, after a little of time passes Yaku and Crill manage to go back to Emilia and once she sees them she immediately tells them to go to the back of her bakery, she closes shop temporarily and asks who this beat up man is, Yaku tells her everything and she smiles "thank you for saving him" she tells yaku, Crill is confused, how could there be such nice humans living inside the inner circle, A green light shines and then green mana leaves sorround Crill as he gets healed from all scratches and bruises Then Emilia gives him bread and water and tells him to stay in the back
Her and Yaku go to the front of the store "we need to get Crill back to the outer layer, it will be practically impossible to track him down there" Emilia tells yaku, Yaku nods and they agree that they should do it today at night at the same time they deliver the extra bread, "It's a plan, we need to do it before i go do my archive business" Yaku tells Emilia, they both look ahead with determination, "Lets save Crill" They both say
