"What exactly happened?"
At the headquarters of the Historical Compilation Committee in Japan, a group of men and women in suits were anxiously discussing.
Not long ago, a spectacular phenomenon of two suns appearing in the sky above Japan had occurred.
Even more incomprehensible was that such an obvious scene had not attracted widespread attention from Japanese society.
Almost everyone seemed not to have seen it at all, completely ignoring it.
"It seems only those with Sorcerer in their bodies can see the second sun."
This explanation undoubtedly indicated that the one responsible for everything, like them, came from the Otherworld.
"Who did it?"
"With such a huge commotion, is the existence of the Otherworld going to be exposed?"
This was not Type Moon. The exposure of the Otherworld would not cause a decline in mystery.
Even so, Knights, Magicians, Sorcerer, and Martial Artists would not casually appear before ordinary people.
The outer world and the Otherworld, the Campione side, were clearly separated.
The chaos caused by Rin had already touched the bottom line of the Historical Compilation Committee.
"We have not investigated it yet."
"The other party is too fast, as if he appeared out of nowhere."
With current technology, it was impossible to observe the sun raft.
The Committee had no choice but to notify the Hime Miko below them.
They would use spiritual vision to observe the truth behind this incident.
However, after suffering persecution from Marquis Voban, Japan now faced a severe shortage of Hime Miko with spiritual vision talent.
Even the direct descendants of the four great families had to act personally.
Of course, there was also Yuri.
How could such an outstanding Hime Miko be ignored by the Historical Compilation Committee?
Almost immediately, she received an order from the Japanese government, instructing her to perform spiritual vision at once to investigate the origin of the second sun.
Unfortunately, Yuri had already become Rin's.
Even before becoming his Dependent, she would not have helped the Committee offend him.
She was kind, but she was not foolish enough to risk angering Rin and endangering her family.
As for now,
Yuri's stance was simple. Do not contact me again. I am afraid Rin might misunderstand.
After becoming a Dependent, she understood one thing.
The safety of the Campione universe depended entirely on his will.
If he was pleased, this world could continue to exist.
As long as the government did not court death, he would not harm innocent civilians.
That was enough.
For Yuri, someone who possessed such power yet could restrain himself was far better than the Campiones she knew.
In fact, he was far nobler than the Historical Compilation Committee, who appeared respectable on the surface but secretly sacrificed her out of fear of Marquis Voban.
"Mariya-san, have you still not seen anything?"
In another room, Amakasu Touma was speaking to her on the phone under Sayanomiya Kaoru's instructions.
"Sorry."
Yuri replied with only two words. She did not lie, she simply expressed her apology.
"Alright."
"However, please continue your spiritual vision, Mariya-san. If you discover anything, inform us immediately."
With that, Amakasu hung up.
This made Hinata quite dissatisfied.
"Are they being a bit too presumptuous?"
"Doesn't Rin think so?"
"Hm."
He nodded. "The Japanese government completely disregards Yuri's safety."
They knew there was danger, yet they still ordered her to continue spying.
Did they not realize how much trouble this could bring her?
One mistake could lead to her sudden death, with her entire family buried alongside her.
"It is not the first time."
Yuri did not show much resentment. She had once been kidnapped by Marquis Voban.
To be precise, she had been offered up by the government.
It was like the trolley problem.
Choosing between one person and an entire island nation, the answer was obvious.
"It is alright."
Rin gently patted her head. "If you have resentment, just let it out."
"But…"
She hesitated.
Saying she did not resent them would be a lie.
But to endanger countless Japanese people for her own sake, she truly could not do it.
Even if it happened again, she would probably still sacrifice herself to save others.
The Historical Compilation Committee exploited exactly this point and used her without restraint.
This included offering her as tribute to Marquis Voban, monitoring Hinata, and now treating her as a consumable resource, forcing her to repeatedly perform spiritual vision.
"Are you misunderstanding something?"
Hinata suddenly spoke. "Since when has Japan been tied to certain individuals?"
"You are now part of the Monster Nation. If even your small matters cannot be resolved, then as the leader, I will be the first to lose face."
"What does Hinata-nee mean?"
"Remove those high ranking officials who chose to sacrifice you."
"They like to play the trolley problem, do they not? Then this time, let them make the choice."
"Sacrifice Japan to preserve themselves, or sacrifice themselves to save this country."
Hinata held some affection for Japan, even this Japan of the Otherworld.
However, that did not mean she liked its politicians.
"That is quite interesting."
Rin shared the same thought.
Since he had chosen Yuri, all the humiliation she had suffered would naturally be repaid.
And Hinata was right.
They enjoyed sacrificing a few to save the many.
But when the so called few included themselves, would these lofty rulers still dare to speak those same words?
