At Training Ground Sixteen, Hakusei Tōya stood facing the three of them and said casually:
"Come at me together. Use everything you've got. Don't worry about hurting me, because you can't."
Hearing that, Nara Shiomizu frowned.
Tōya's being way too arrogant. Saying even if the three of us go all out, we still can't hurt him?
Kakashi was a jōnin. Shiomizu knew his own raw power wasn't top-tier, but in terms of utility, he was easily on the level of a Tokubetsu Jōnin.
And Inuzuka Midori? A clan ninja. If she was placed on the same team as them, her strength couldn't be lacking.
Against a trio like this, even an elite jōnin would hesitate to say they could take all three on without a scratch.
Each of them was either a genius jōnin or a secret-technique user with a unique edge.
Unless you were someone like the Third or Fourth Hokage, who could shrug off three top-notch opponents and crush them like ants, no one could be that confident.
There was no way a kid like Tōya had that kind of power. Sure, the Fourth was the same age… but there was only one Fourth Hokage in Konoha.
Midori also looked riled up. She cracked her knuckles, full of fighting spirit.
She wasn't that little girl chasing bells anymore, she was ready to show her true strength!
Only Kakashi looked like he'd swallowed something foul. His face soured as if he already knew this wasn't going to end well.
Shiomizu quickly got into formation and barked,
"Midori, you've got the strongest taijutsu, go in first and engage. Kakashi, prepare your Lightning Release."
"Fang Over Fang!"
Midori shouted. She and her ninken, Graymaru, spun into twin tornadoes and surged forward at full speed.
Just passing through the terrain, the twin spirals shredded the grass underfoot and tore into the earth, leaving deep furrows like plows.
Yet, Hakusei Tōya didn't even move.
He just stood there.
He didn't even look like he was planning to dodge.
Shiomizu narrowed his eyes.
He's not going to dodge? Is he seriously planning to take it head-on?
He kept his gaze locked on Tōya, ready to cast Shadow Imitation Jutsu the moment there was an opening.
But even as Midori's tornadoes closed to within a single meter, Tōya didn't budge. He didn't form hand signs, didn't raise a guard, he simply raised one fist.
He gathered the power of the Gura Gura no Mi.
A white aura shimmered around his clenched fist as he drove it toward the incoming spirals.
BOOOOOOOM!!!
WHOOOOOSH!!!
The instant the two forces collided, a deafening shockwave blasted through the field, flattening grass and tearing through the air with chaotic turbulence.
CRACK! CRACK!
A sound like shattering glass rang out.
Shiomizu looked closer, cracks were spreading across the tornadoes themselves, as if they were giant spinning mirrors about to explode.
BOOM!!! BOOM!!!
BANG! BANG!
The spirals shattered into nothing with explosive force, vanishing midair.
Midori and Graymaru were sent flying like ragdolls, crashing hard into the ground and skidding across it, gouging out a trench in the soil.
Kakashi flinched.
That looked painful...
"NOW, KAKASHI!" Shiomizu shouted.
Kakashi looked up to see that Shiomizu had already launched his jutsu during the earlier explosion. Using the dust cloud as cover, he'd successfully caught Tōya in his Shadow Imitation Technique.
"Do it now! I can't hold him for long!"
Sweat beaded on Shiomizu's forehead as he strained to keep the jutsu active.
It was the first time he'd felt this exhausted from using it.
It didn't feel like he was restraining a human, but some kind of ancient beast.
What he didn't know was that Tōya was actually suppressing his power on purpose, if he hadn't, the technique would've instantly backfired and seriously injured Shiomizu from the sheer power gap.
After all, the strength of Whitebeard, the man who stopped a massive ship with his bare hands even in his old, sickened state, wasn't something a genin could ever hold.
Even without the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, Whitebeard would still be one of the strongest in the world.
Kakashi clenched his teeth and gathered his chakra. Lightning Release surged into his palm.
ZZZZZZZ!
Blue lightning sparked violently, forming a blade-like spear of pure energy in his hand.
The electric current ramped up his physical speed, and Kakashi shot toward Tōya like a thunderbolt.
Yet, as Kakashi charged, Tōya stood frozen in place, arms out, body rigid, copying Shiomizu's stance exactly.
He really looked like he was under control.
Kakashi reached him almost instantly. With his Sharingan, he could even see the individual hairs on Tōya's arm.
He hesitated for just a split second.
What if Tōya really can't move? What if this hits him full-force?
Chidori is lethal, it could go straight through him.
The Chidori's strength came from the fusion of elemental and shape transformation, an extremely powerful piercing strike.
Its only flaw was the speed, so fast that it blurred vision, risking mistakes. But with the Sharingan, that weakness was nullified.
Suddenly, Tōya shouted:
"Kakashi, you've seen my power, and you're still hesitating? Are you looking down on me?!"
Kakashi's eyes widened.
Tōya's entire body was now cloaked in an armor-like black substance, Armament Haki.
No more hesitation.
Kakashi thrust the Chidori straight into Tōya's chest.
ZZZZZZZ!!!
The lightning flared, engulfing Tōya in blue sparks like a living thunder god.
But not a single bolt pierced his Haki defense.
The attack didn't even scratch him.
It felt like stabbing a steel wall.
No matter how sharp his Chidori was, it couldn't punch through.
Instead, the force rebounded painfully into Kakashi's own hand.
Shiomizu stood frozen, jaw slack.
Lightning Release was known for its overwhelming destructive power, and this particular technique was clearly advanced.
Yet when it struck a supposedly restrained target, the result?
Nothing.
Not even a dent.
Shiomizu mentally shut down.
This doesn't make sense.
This isn't how ninjas are supposed to work.
This isn't what we were taught in the academy. Or what the elders said at home…
Sensing that things had gone far enough, Tōya stopped holding back and instantly broke free of the Shadow Imitation Jutsu.
Shiomizu trembled and coughed up a mouthful of blood.
SWOOSH!
Kakashi saw a blur, then felt a crushing force slam into his back.
Tōya had vanished and appeared behind him in the blink of an eye, slamming him with a punch that sent him flying straight into Midori.
They landed together, twitching.
Shiomizu felt a terrible sense of foreboding and tried to call out,
"Wait, we su-, "
THWACK!
Tōya flash-stepped forward and kicked him clean off his feet, sending him flying to join the others in a neat little pile.
Dusting off his hands, Tōya looked pleased.
"Teammates should lie down together, nice and orderly."
