However, Yuta's heart was somewhat moved.
Unexpectedly, an ordinary student in Seireitei had a dream as brilliant as a rainbow.
It was a pity. The world of Bleach was one that prioritized bloodline, talent, and potential.
The cultivation of a Soul Reaper was based on developing the potential of one's soul-a feat limited by innate talent.
In that case... he would see for himself how far they could go.
"I'll show you a magic trick that turns water into wine. Do you believe me?" Yuta asked with a serious tone.
"Cut~"
"Don't believe it."
"Don't believe it? You three bring me your water cups and see for yourselves."
All three of them, Juri and Kanae included, wore curious expressions. Though they pretended not to believe him, they clearly looked forward to what might come next.
"Here."
Each of them handed over their cup to Yuta.
"Hmph... I want to see how you do it," Juri said through the mirror. She rested her elbows on the table, her hands together under her chin, and stared at Yuta's every move with wide eyes.
Yuta picked up Mikami Asui's pink water cup first and gave it a little shake in his hand.
It looked unchanged-but in reality, the water inside had already transformed into "Spiritual Spring" under the influence of Spirit Particle Control.
Spiritual Spring contained elevated soul qualities and spiritual energy. It could stimulate potential, enhance talent, and accelerate the awakening of innate abilities.
"Alright, it's become wine now."
"Real or fake?"
Mikami Asui picked up his cup, gave it a sniff, but couldn't detect anything different.
"If you don't believe me, try it."
Mikami took a sip-and froze as the sensation crashed down on him. The water he drank every day suddenly felt alien and powerful.
It was hard to define the feeling. It was spicy-but not quite; it was piercing-but bearable. It felt like every cell in his body was waking up at once.
In simple words-it was overwhelming.
"No way... it really turned into wine?! Yuta! How did you do that?" Mikami Asui asked excitedly, transformed into a curious child all over again.
Juri's eyes widened inside the mirror's frame. She had been staring at Yuta the whole time. He hadn't done anything weird or suspicious-and somehow the water had turned into wine?
What kind of magic was this? What did Yuta do?
She quickly grabbed onto Yuta's hand from the mirror and started shaking it with urgency. Her tone turned spoiled and pleading. "Yuta gege~~ I want some too! I want some too…!"
"I've... I've actually... I've seriously... I've actually... Never had alcohol."
Back in Rukongai, food was scarce-and brewed alcohol was practically priceless.
Yuta repeated the same process. He turned Juri's water-as well as Kusaki Enka's cup contents from the plant mirror form they had taken on the table beside her couch-to Spiritual Spring again.
"Give it a try?"
Juri and Kanae both took their cups carefully and sipped small tastes. As soon as it touched their lips, warmth spread through their bodies. Heat followed right after. Their skin tingled all over from the rush of elevated spirit energy.
Kanae squinted as her energy shifted internally and then peered at Yuta with blinking eyes. "Yuta... how did you do this? Can you tell us?"
Yuta wagged his finger back and forth. "Can't do that. Once magic is exposed-it's no longer magic."
"Hmph… you're a bad guy Yuta."
…
After that, the library turned silent again.
Yuta quickly returned to his reading - flipping through the books one after another at rapid speed.
[You successfully comprehended one of the Hadō spells: Shō]
[You successfully comprehended Hadō #4: Byakurai]
[You successfully comprehended Hadō #11: Tsuzuri Raiden]
…
It didn't take long before all first-level Hadō were fully understood by him.
Next came Bakudō-the binding arts of Soul Reapers up to level thirty.
[You successfully comprehended Bakudō #1: Sai]
[You successfully comprehended Bakudō #4: Hainawa]
[You successfully comprehended Bakudō #8: Seki]
…
Just as Yuta was preparing to head to the second floor to begin intermediate Kidō studies, Mikami Asui gently tugged at his sleeve from beside him.
"Hm?" Yuta glanced at him with clear confusion in his eyes.
"Yuta-the self-study period is over. The next class is with Kuranosuke Kiyota, the instructor for our elite group. You should come with us."
"I heard that today's class is about receiving our Asauchi. That's something you can't afford to miss."
The excitement caught Yuta's attention immediately. He gave a small nod. "Alright. Let's go."
Mikami Asui watched as Yuta calmly closed his book and packed it away. Somehow, her mind wandered back to something Yuta had said earlier-
She had once insisted that hard work was meaningless-
-but when learning Kidō? Yuta had been far sharper than anyone else in the room.
If she hadn't reminded him about the time… Yuta might've kept reading until nightfall without stopping once.
Turns out… Yuta was someone completely different from what he made himself out to be…
That thought brought a faint smile to Mikami's face without her realizing it at all.
"Mikami! What are you smiling about?" Juri Rika called out from the mirror again.
"Nothing." Mikami Asui shook his head politely in reply.
They finished packing up-and all four headed toward Classroom One of the elite group division together.
The afternoon sunlight filtered perfectly through the leaves above as they walked under tree shade side by side.
Groups of students passed them in different directions-as everyone moved toward their own classrooms across campus.
Eventually-they arrived at the elite division classroom door together.
Rows of long desks filled the room by design-and students could choose seats freely wherever they wanted to sit down.
By the time Yuta and the others came in-a decent number of students had already taken seats across scattered rows. The four of them picked open spots without hesitation and sat together toward one side of the room.
As soon as the bell rang-the classroom door opened again and Kuranosuke Kiyota walked in.
He was tall and muscular-with a square jaw and stiff posture-and his facial expression barely moved except for two harsh coughs that cleared his throat before speaking bluntly.
"First, I'll take attendance."
He opened up a flat wooden board with names carved into it and began reading them off one by one according to academy protocol. Each name called was answered with a respectful "present."
Eventually-the only name left uncalled-
Was Yuta's.
"Now... Let me introduce our transfer student."
The moment those words left Kiyota's mouth, a ripple went through the classroom.
After all, not everyone could qualify for Shino Academy's elite group so casually…
Whoever this new student was-they had to be something else entirely...
Hirano narrowed his eyes instantly. As a low-ranking noble himself-it wasn't hard for him to suspect that this new arrival might be from another noble family too…and possibly one of higher rank than his own…
If this was someone from mid or upper nobility… then he'd have to start thinking about how to win favor fast…
Mikami and Weasui looked surprised as well-
"Who's gonna be the new student?"
"Could it be Yuta? I don't remember seeing him during our Spiritual Pressure entrance test…"
