Chapter 7 - chapter 7

Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto had already been famous in the Soul Society two thousand years ago.

He once founded the "Genryu" and earned renown as its creator. He recruited many disciples and established the Genryu's technique and character system.

He single-handedly formed the Gotei Thirteen and served as its overall captain commander.

He was equivalent to the living history of the Soul Society-the strongest Shinigami it had ever known.

His Bankai, Ryujin Jakka, could cause all the water in Soul Society to gradually vanish, and that happened while he restrained its full power.

Left unchecked, it had the potential to destroy Soul Society in a very limited span of time.

For Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni, the key wasn't how to unleash power-it was learning how to restrain it.

Aside from some minor physical weakness due to his age, his skills in swordsmanship, hand-to-hand combat, movement arts, and Kido had all reached their peak. (T/N: Tbh i would say mommy retsu win in swordsmanship not that the old man would lose in a fight.. but in pure swordsmanship? Yeh the mommy reign supreme.)

Facing the old man, Yuta cupped his hands respectfully. "Yuta Hideki. I greet Captain Yamamoto."

"Are you the one responsible for that reiatsu riot?"

Yuta smiled faintly and answered in a calm tone without arrogance or humility. "It was nothing but a small trick-not worth any praise."

"The future generations are indeed impressive." Yamamoto touched his beard and smiled. "Yuta, should you be willing to become my personal disciple, I'll teach you everything I can."

Kyoraku Shunsui nodded silently to himself.

"Yeah… the old man's judgment is as good as ever."

Despite how shocking the offer was, Yuta was fully qualified. If he accepted this role as Yamamoto's disciple, he would gain access to the highest techniques Seireitei had to offer and become a powerhouse in a very brief span of time.

What shocked Kyoraku Shunsui far deeper than the offer itself was Yuta's response.

Yuta bowed slightly again. "Captain, thank you for your kindness. I understand."

"However, as someone who grew up freely in Rukongai, I'm not used to following anyone. I prefer not to become anyone's disciple."

Yamamoto's conditions were beyond tempting.

Had Yuta agreed, he would've gained firsthand knowledge of every Shinigami discipline straight from Yamamoto himself-the best there was in swordplay, martial arts, mobility skills, and Kido arts.

Yet at the same time, accepting that title also implied shouldering the burden of protecting Seireitei and all of Soul Society. It wasn't fear that held Yuta back-it was knowing full well that kind of obligation would be a long-term nightmare for him personally.

Most of all, Yuta already possessed rare comprehension across the disciplines. It was only a matter of time before he reached their peak-and surpassed them at that.

To others, becoming Yamamoto's disciple might feel like receiving precious treasure.

To Yuta, it wasn't something he needed at all.

Yamamoto nodded with visible calm. "That's no problem... then are you willing to attend Shinō Academy?"

"There's nothing stopping me," Yuta answered with ease. He had already planned to enroll anyway.

Yamamoto picked up his brush and wrote out a recommendation letter by hand.

"With your level of spiritual pressure, there's no further testing required. This letter will grant you admission directly."

"Chojiro."

The name was called softly-and in the next moment, someone appeared beside him without sound or delay.

"My subordinates await," Chojiro said at once.

"Fetch some money from the treasury and give it to Yuta."

"Yes, Captain."

In another moment, Chojiro vanished entirely again.

"As for Shinō Academy, Hitsugaya will escort Yuta over personally."

Hitsugaya Toshiro gave a wordless nod of acknowledgment.

Once the two had left the room together and crossed outside the observation deck doors, only Kyoraku Shunsui and Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni remained behind in silence on the platform above Seireitei.

Yamamoto spoke without looking away from the city below. "Have you had any contact with Yuta before today?"

Shunsui folded his arms loosely and glanced toward the horizon. "Mm… no, but he's strong."

"His spiritual pressure is powerful, but it's his understanding that terrifies me..."

"He's already begun to grasp Quincy abilities."

"That alone puts him above standard Shinigami already."

For the first time in their conversation, Yamamoto turned slightly to look at Shunsui. His narrowed eyes widened minutely and shimmered with faint light behind their age-clouded gaze. "He has Quincy powers?"

Shunsui fell into thought for a moment and said slowly, "If we allow Yuta to continue growing unchecked… could he pose risk to Seireitei someday?"

Yamamoto's expression settled back into calm again quickly. "It doesn't concern me. The Quincy have already been exterminated. Even with their power, as long as I live… Seireitei will remain intact."

Hitsugaya Toshiro and Yuta walked through First Division corridors together.

The layout was square and strict in architecture-with many identical intersecting hallways with no variation or signs to break them up visually.

After several turns, Yuta admitted it all looked the same-which explained why so many people lost their way in these halls.

Eventually they exited through the front doors.

Chojiro stood waiting outside with something in hand already prepared for delivery.

"This is sixty thousand Kan. It should cover your early expenses within Seireitei."

"Once you've joined Shinō Academy as an official student, you'll receive regular monthly subsidies. That'll allow you to meet your daily needs normally."

"And good performance will bring bonus rewards besides."

"With your talent-I don't think it'll take long before your name is known throughout Soul Society."

"Thanks." Yuta took the currency note and inspected it briefly. One side bore noble family crest marks around a printed ten-thousand denomination. The reverse carried an image-a palace hovering high above the clouds carved into its frame lines.

That palace likely referred to one place only: the Soul King Palace itself-a symbol of unshakable noble loyalty to the royal order above everything else.

Yet very few people ever had clearance to enter that place-and fewer than that ever laid eyes on the Soul King within it.

Suddenly-a clear female shout echoed nearby-

"Ah! Captain-you're really right there!"

Footsteps followed hot behind-and both men turned around on instinct when they heard them approach quickly down the path behind them.

The woman approaching wore the standard black uniform-but her appearance stood out without question from anyone else on-site.

She wore her hair curled with wide waves falling around her face and shoulders. Her body moved easily beneath her uniform-but her chest shifted enough with each step that it drew all attention to her exaggerated curves bouncing freely under fabric thinner than regulation likely allowed. There was a necklace hanging around her neck where silver rings touched bare skin between her breasts. She'd thrown a pink shawl lightly over her shoulders and wore denim-patterned pants belted at her waist with ribbon tied into a bow at her side.

She was flawlessly built-and her expression carried ease without arrogance from knowing exactly how she looked when walking straight toward others head-on like this.

Matsumoto Rangiku-the Vice-Captain of Tenth Division herself.

As soon as she spotted Yuta her gaze lit up almost instantly-and she rushed over like she'd found something rare worth grabbing before anyone else could reach it first.
