Chapter 416 - Chapter 416 : I am Hashirama

Hashirama's Diary

Day 1

I am Hashirama Senju, and today is my first day in Sunagakure.

I was actually excited about my mission—traveling to Sunagakure to plant trees. Finally, a chance to be "free" for a while.

When I first arrived, the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, and the Sand shinobi were very polite, talking to me with exaggerated respect. So, naturally, I spread a large-scale Tree World Descent across the desert outside their village, creating over ten acres of dense forest in one go.

...

Day 2

The food in Sunagakure is terrible. Even though my Impure World Reincarnation body can't taste anything properly, it looked terrible, so I'm sure it was terrible.

There was a roasted scorpion dish that straight-up cracked my Impure World Reincarnation teeth.

Thankfully, this Edo Tensei body regenerates automatically. My teeth definitely aren't weak—this body is literally made of paper; paper can't be harder than a shell. Yes, that must be it (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑).

Today I built another hundred acres of forest. My chakra automatically recovers, but for some reason… I still feel tired. Almost like I'm alive.

...

Day 3

Another day of planting trees. During a break, I met a little red-haired kid with the word "愛" tattooed on his forehead. I could feel a tailed beast inside him—should be One-Tail.

He had huge dark circles under his eyes, meaning he hasn't been sleeping properly. I talked with him for a bit. His mother died in childbirth, so he only has a father. But his father must be terrible if he won't even let his kid sleep. I'll definitely teach this "father" a lesson later.

That's the promise I made with this boy named Gaara.

...

Day 4

Turns out Gaara's father is Rasa. I tortured him with Wood Release until he apologized to Gaara. Otherwise, I refused to plant any more forest.

After that, Rasa admitted defeat and begged for forgiveness.

...

Day 5

Planting trees is exhausting. For the first time, I feel like mastering Wood Release might actually be a curse… I miss my fifth day back in Konoha.

Day 6

Planting trees.

Day 7

Afforestation.

Day 8

Planting trees.

Day 9

Planting trees. More planting.

Day 10

Reforestation and afforestation.

Day 11

Plant trees, plant trees, plant more trees.

...

Day 51

The ANBU who came with me—Captain #1—told me this morning that the afforestation mission is finally complete. I've planted a full circle of forest around all of Sunagakure. The next stage is expanding the oasis.

But after I strongly protested, I was allowed to return to Konoha for two months of rest. I can't take any more of this. This labor dispatch mission is inhuman!

They say I earned 600 million ryō worth of mineral resources for Konoha. Making money is way too easy.

But I don't want money now. I miss my wife. Even though I don't know if this reincarnated body can still… you know, I miss Mito's gentle care more.

People in Sunagakure talk without meaning. No one argues with me. No one dares provoke me. It's so boring (。•́︿•̀。).

It's been fifty-one days of missing my wife Mito, my brother Tobirama, my granddaughter Tsunade, and that kid Uchiha Hikaru. But finally—finally—I can return tomorrow!

...

Early in the morning, in the scorching summer desert, the sun hadn't fully risen yet. A man wearing ancient red armor from the Warring States era—cracked in many places but smiling brightly—walked out through the narrow exit of Sunagakure. Behind him followed a man in a black ANBU cloak and mask.

"Shodaime-sama, we can depart now. All accounts have been settled, and the minerals worth 600 million ryō will arrive in Konoha within half a month."

If the Impure World Reincarnation body could shed tears, Hashirama would be crying.

He and Captain #1 reached the high outer wall. Hashirama looked down at the vast forest he had created over fifty-one grueling days.

No one knows how much effort he put in.

Fifty-one days, planting trees twelve hours a day. He became more skilled—numb, even—using Wood Release. He swore he wouldn't use Tree World Descent for the next two months.

If he did, he'd develop Tree World Advent Syndrome!

The villagers even gave him a nickname—"Vegetable."

Meaning he's like a plant himself: capable of growing trees around him, able to thrive even in the desert.

In just a month and a half, Sunagakure's desert perimeter became a green circle, like a miracle.

They even called him "God of Vegetation."

Then, right in front of the elephant, Hashirama created a wooden clone and lifted the elephant onto its back.

"Lord Hashirama… what are you doing?" Captain #1 asked nervously. He trusted Hashirama, but this behavior felt… dangerous.

Hashirama didn't answer, only grinned mysteriously.

"Just wait. I'll show you something fun."

In front of the stunned elephant, Hashirama formed hand signs and created two massive flower petals.

He used vines to attach them to his back—and attached matching petals to his wooden clone carrying the elephant.

He'd wanted to try this for a long time.

"Sh-Shodaime-sama… you're not actually…" Captain #1's voice trembled.

Then Hashirama and the clone took a running start and launched themselves into the sky.

With hands extended backward, two spore vents opened on his palms, spraying pollen downward like rocket thrusters.

The petals became parachute wings. The pollen spray became propulsion. They soared into the air, riding the desert wind.

Rasa and Maki, watching from afar, felt their worldviews collapsing.

So this was the legendary God of Shinobi?

Truly… unbelievable.

High in the sky, Hashirama flew joyfully, shouting at the top of his lungs:

"Konoha! I'm coming home! Hahahahaha!"

"I'm a vegetable! Ascending! Taking off!!!"

Below him, the elephant screamed in terror:

"Aaaaaaa—"

"Lord Hashirama, slow down!! I can't take this!"

"Fuck— f-f-fuck me!!!"

"It's too high! I'm afraid of heights! Lower! Lower!!"

"Don't pick your nose while flying! HOLD ON TO ME, LORD HASHIRAMA!"

"Fu—%¥#@#¥!!—"

That day, caravans crossing the desert, nomads, and even Fire Nation citizens heard strange screams and the wild laughter of a simple-minded man echoing from the sky.

Looking up, they saw only two tiny dots drifting across the clouds.

A legend began circulating in the Lands of Fire and Wind:

giant man-eating birds flew in the sky, producing human-like screams and laughter, and would carry off disobedient children.

Parents used it to scare their kids for years afterward.

By sunset, Hashirama and Captain #1 reached Konoha.

They landed several kilometers outside the village. Captain #1 immediately collapsed—foaming under his mask, eyes rolled back, twitching violently.

Hashirama had no choice but to let the wooden clone continue carrying the elephant. Under countless bewildered stares, he passed the gate and rushed straight to the Hokage's office.

Tsunade stared at her grandfather and the wooden clone carrying a massive elephant. Her mouth twitched.

"Grandpa… what did you do to the elephant?"

Hashirama scratched his head awkwardly.

"Hahaha… the normal way back was too slow, so I used a special method. Maybe his constitution wasn't good enough. He needs more training."

"The first phase of Sunagakure's tree-planting commission is done. I'm back for two months of rest."

"For the mission details, ask Captain #1. I'm leaving—I miss your grandma~"

He jumped out the window and sprinted toward the Senju compound.

Shizune sighed at the window frame that had been stepped on by countless people.

"Why does no one ever use the front door…"

She healed Captain #1 with medical ninjutsu until he finally woke up—although still dizzy.

"Captain #1… how did my grandfather bring you back? Why are you like this?"

So Captain #1 explained the entire terrifying aerial journey.

Tsunade burst into uncontrollable laughter. Even Shizune covered her mouth to avoid making noise.

Tonton the pig was rolling on the floor, legs up: "Hum~! Hum hum~!"

After a long while, Tsunade regained her composure.

"Alright, take out the scroll. Let's see how many resources Grandpa earned for Konoha."

Captain #1 handed it over. Tsunade unrolled it.

It recorded the massive forest Hashirama created each day and the resources earned—600 million ryō worth of minerals, calculated at cost price.

Enough to fuel Konoha for five years.

Tsunade approved a two-month vacation for Captain #1. After surviving the "Hashirama Special Transportation Method," it was the least they could do.

...

In the Senju compound, Hashirama arrived home and noticed Mito wasn't in the living room. Using chakra sensing, he detected her in the basement medical room—with Sakura—training together.

He cheerfully rushed downstairs and flung the door open.

"Sakura, the key to chakra extraction is precise control of both form and—"

BANG! The door slammed open.

"Mito! I'm back~!"

Mito's eye twitched violently.

"GET OUT! I'm teaching Sakura!"

"O-Okay~"

Hearing her familiar scolding, Hashirama lay down on the living room sofa with a satisfied smile.

"It's good to be home~"
