Chapter 1 - Mundane

The city was covered by an oppressing blanket of blue, each tall titanic structures of man each piercing at the sky struggling to deflect the soft golden rays which smashed unto the city, each second the heat prickling at the skin of its inhabitants. On the ground, vast amount of people walked, dreams and ambitions echoeing in every step as they walked towards their routine.

In the university of Ski haven, Jason sat, eyes watching the birds drift up in the sky, the sounds of someone dimming with every second gone by.

It wasn't until a hand touched his that he was suddenly brought back to life.

"W-what..what, Im here, I'm here" The hurried confirmation of his existence, sent ripples of laughter across some faces.

He stared and right at his vision was that he university professor, Mr Rick.

With a chubby and bald head, puffy cheeks, double chin and of course the massive pot belly, the hot breath of the teacher, coiled around Jason. Even from that short distance he could smell the tinge of alcohol stained in it.

Then the man spoke

"Jason, this is the fourth time I have seen you sleep in my classroom!" His voice ran out angry and dissatisfied, his jaw rippling like water. He continued "This isn't a joke, your grades aren't a joke! Take it seriously!"

As he said that, he —Hmphd!— angrily, showing his long since present dissatisfaction.

Jason said nothing, just stared at his receding figure, the boredom spreading deep in his chest.

Just the same…everyday

....

Class ended in a blur, and soon Jason found himself walking calmly across the streets. He soon stopped at his destined location and sat on the seat. He had to take the bus home.

Soon the huge and massive yellow and black bus found it's way in his presence, his barely 6 ft 2 figure entering it, as he scanned his university card keeping out a soft—beep!.

The journey home was a series of laughter, smell of alcohol and the ever increasing sound of prayer. Anger rushed at his mind, his very hand shaking from the oppressive need to slap whoever was singing that god forsaken song but he said nothing. It was just part of life.

The bus soon came to a stop, and he descended it as his figure slowly walked up to his small but cozy apartment building.

He climbed up the steps in rapid succession, some neighbours, raising their hands in greeting as he waved at them back.

He walked upon leaving the stair, all the way to his door—Room 7, and he entered it, locking the door in a soft—clack!

Soon enough, Jason had already pulled all his clothes from his body, as he highlighted his bathtub, soaking himself in it, letting the warm water wash away all the stress.

After a few minutes, he came out from it, did some rubbing of his skin, and soon found himself staring at a cup of instant noodles, which he ate in perfect silence.

He devoured the entire cup of instant noodles, throwing it in the bin, as he walked around his apartment making sure everywhere was secure. There was a rumour of some theifs breaking in at night and stealing.

Though he had nothing of significance, he still couldn't let them take anything.

After securing everywhere in perfect routine, he jumped into his bed and layed perfectly still on it before due to the intense boredom gnawing at his edges, opened his phone screen. He scrolled on reels, laughed a little, got motivated a little, but as he layed there staring at his phone screen, his heart seemed to weaken

Was this all there was to life? Was this all there is?

He had dreams. Big dreams. Yet he was tied to this place. In the mundane.

It felt like his entire life had already been planned out for him and he was just in the car in the backseat as someone else drove it. He felt lost, tired infact and many times he even contemplated suicide but he never did, yet with each day that passed his life just seemed to get sadder and sadder.

Before he knew it, a bead of tear had already rolled out of his eyes, casting soft memories of his existence. He was alive, yes, but yet he seemed dead. He existed yes, but it didn't feel so… Maybe life wasn't just about being alive… maybe it was about truly living..

And as he laid there on the bed contemplating his future, he didn't know of what was to come. His journey to supremacy!
