📖 Chapter 6 – "Awakening Flame"
The nightmare returned.
Lucius woke with a start, sweat clinging to his forehead as his chest heaved. The room around him was broken, touched by moonlight bleeding through the cracks. That voice. That face. That smile.
> "That dream again…" he whispered to no one. "Who was that demon girl?"
His hand trembled in the pale light, fingers twitching like they were remembering something he couldn't. A feeling—a warmth now lost.
But reality wasted no time crashing in.
From a distance, the violent roars of battle shook the trees. The air vibrated with cursed energy. Explosions lit the sky like silent lightning, painting death behind every crackling burst.
Lucius turned. Not far from where he lay, the Master was still fighting the Demon Lord.
He watched in frozen awe. The Demon Lord launched a spiraling orb of black flames, howling, "You're protecting that boy? He's the vessel of the old king!"
The Master stood tall in the chaos, eyes blazing. "He's still a child… and he still has a choice."
Lucius felt a jolt in his chest.
> That energy… it's the same as mine.
Suddenly, images flickered—like pieces of broken glass reflecting memories he never asked for. A girl's soft voice echoed in his mind.
> "Stay alive, Lucius… no matter what…"
Her voice pulled something from deep within him. A pulse. A curse mark on his neck flickered like dying fire—only now it refused to die.
Far across the battlefield, the Master noticed it too.
> No… the seal is cracking already?!
The Demon Lord laughed low, eyes fixed on Lucius even while clashing blades.
> "So… it's beginning. The soul of the King... awakens."
The Master slammed his staff into the ground, a glowing symbol burning beneath the Demon Lord's feet.
> "Heaven's Binding Circle — First Chain!"
Chains of holy light burst from the earth, ensnaring the Demon Lord mid-charge. He roared, cursed flames bursting from his back.
> "You think ancient tricks can hold me?!"
The Master turned to Lucius without hesitation. "RUN!"
Lucius stumbled backward—but a new voice echoed in his skull, colder, heavier, ancient.
> "Weak... useless... let me out."
He froze.
> "Who… who are you?" Lucius whispered.
Inside his mind, a blood-red mist swirled. A silhouette formed—grinning, inhuman, majestic in menace.
> "You already know me," the voice replied. "I've watched everything."
Sukuna.
Lucius collapsed to his knees, shaking. "Stay away from me… I'm not like you…"
Back in the real world, the Demon Lord shattered the seals. A shockwave erupted outward. The Master was flung across the ground, blood streaking from his mouth. He struggled to rise.
Lucius saw it all—this man had bled for him.
> He's risking everything… for me.
And something snapped.
His hands began to glow—not in fury, but in realization.
> Was this the power inside me all along…?
He stood.
Wind gathered around him, whispering through the trees. His curse mark burned. His face tightened—not in fear, but in resolve.
> "If I really carry that monster inside..." Lucius whispered aloud, "then I'll fight it."
Within his mind, Sukuna chuckled darkly.
> "You're just a boy… but fine. Show me what you can do."
Lucius stepped forward.
The Master, barely standing, called out. "Lucius?! What are you doing?!"
But the boy didn't stop. Energy flared violently around him like a cloak of shadows and light.
> I don't know who I am… but I'll protect the ones who saved me.
The Demon Lord tilted his head, amused. "So the cursed prince awakens."
Lucius raised his head. His voice came out strange—two voices overlapping, one innocent, the other ancient.
> "Let's see how much of a monster I really am."
His left eye turned blood-red. His curse mark flared. The jungle shook.
And the true beginning had finally begun.
