Chapter 8 - Diamond Card

To be fair, Ning Qing had always been very filial to Chen Shulan.

As people age, they crave the presence of their children and grandchildren, and Qin Ran knew what lingered in her heart.

The two of them descended the stairs.

Ning Qing sat on the sofa, lost in thought.

When she saw Qin Ran come down wearing a white T-shirt and carrying her own bag, she stood up, realizing that Qin Ran was serious about staying at school.

She had prepared a wardrobe full of beautiful dresses and designer bags, but Qin Ran hadn't taken any of them.

Ning Qing didn't know what to make of it. Holding her teacup, she remained silent.

How could anyone not want to live in a villa, wear designer clothes, and carry luxury bags?

"I'm going to school. You're in charge of Grandma. I'll go to the hospital when I have time," Qin Ran said, one hand in her pocket, her almond eyes cold and defiant.

The Lin family was close to the school and had a personal nutritionist.

With the pressure of the third year of high school, most families with resources would have their children study at home with their parents, rather than stay in the dorms.

Ning Qing knew that staying at the Lin family would be the best for Qin Ran.

But as she watched her daughter walk away with her bag, a slight hesitation crept in. The Lin family's little aunts would be arriving soon, but in the end, she didn't ask her to stay.

Ning Qing asked the driver to take Qin Ran to school. "Your brother and sister are… well, just focus on studying."

As she watched Qin Ran leave, the tension in her shoulders loosened unexpectedly.

Chen Shulan, who had accompanied Qin Ran outside and was about to go with her to school, was stopped by Qin Ran.

Standing at the door, Chen Shulan knew that Qin Ran was a complex girl with many secrets, ones she treated as treasures.

But as she looked at the black backpack Qin Ran carried, it dawned on her: Qin Ran had never brought any of her things to the Lin family.

From the very beginning, she had planned to stay at the dorm.

Instead of going directly to school, Qin Ran stopped by the bank first.

After waiting in line for her number, she approached the counter.

The teller, stunned by the diamond card Qin Ran casually handed over, hesitated for a long moment before stammering, "I—I'll need to check with our manager. I don't have the necessary authority…"

"Mm," Qin Ran murmured, her pale fingers tapping lazily on the counter. "I just need to transfer some funds."

It was rare for someone with a diamond card to handle transactions personally; typically, the bank manager would go to them.

Qin Ran made the transfer, and the manager personally escorted her out.

The bank was not far from the school, just a ten-minute walk.

She thanked the Lin family's driver, telling him to return.

The driver briefly glanced at the bank employees, who were smiling attentively at Qin Ran. The Lin family had never visited this bank, so he didn't recognize them. It seemed strange, but he said nothing.

Qin Ran took a shortcut back to school.

The midday sun was scorching.

"Where's the restaurant Mr. Xu mentioned?" Lu Zhaoying's earrings sparkled in the sunlight as he dialed a number, glancing around at the intersection.

Behind him, Cheng Jun walked a little distance behind.

The sun was relentless, but the black shirt Cheng Jun wore did not make him feel hot—in fact, it exuded a strange chill.

His face was expressionless, yet it was undeniably handsome, calm, and distinct.

As he searched for shade to wait for Lu Zhaoying to ask for directions, he looked up and saw a few people with hair dyed a fiery color, gathered around someone.

The person held a black bag, their fingers pale and fragile.

The school's jacket was casually draped over their shoulders.

The figure stood out—indifferent and aloof.

Cheng Jun froze for a moment.

Lu Zhaoying, having gotten the directions, hung up the phone and also noticed the situation.
