Chapter 118 - Chapter 119 : Related??

The second dead city was also a ruin, with many undead wandering through its streets.

Because they wore clothing that blocked the undead's aura, the two of them began to be attacked.

Ren once again used a magic scroll to restrain the zombies.

His karma value was +50; he would not kill innocents recklessly.

This time, their goal was only to find clues about the culprit.

But the results were disappointing.

Just like the town where Keno had been, there were no traces at all.

It might also be due to Ren's profession—if it were Momoga, the magic residue might have been detectable.

Keno felt a little disappointed.

At first, she had come here full of hope.

Ren took out a map and marked the location, hoping to see a connection between the places.

Unfortunately, nothing appeared.

Sensing Keno's disappointment, Ren spoke softly to comfort her.

"Our time is still long. Undead live for a very long time. You've endured so far; can't you hold on a little longer?"

"Lord Ren, I'll try my best."

Keno no longer felt down.

After all, she had persevered for so many years.

This journey was only a short time compared to that.

The two of them set off again.

This journey lasted two years.

They followed the traces of the undead, adventuring across many lands.

Ren also learned the current timeline of the New World.

Now he understood that he had traveled too early—two hundred years too early.

He finally abandoned any thoughts of returning to the Great Tomb.

He focused entirely on helping Keno uncover the truth.

They had already explored five undead-infested towns.

Looking only at history, culture, and diplomacy, these towns had no connection at all.

In other words, there was no way to find a link from these aspects.

"Ren, shall we go?"

Keno used magic to block the zombies.

Over the past two years, she had come to fully trust Ren and had learned quite a bit of magic herself.

Her hair was now cut to shoulder length because Ren had said he liked it short.

"Hm. There's nothing more here."

Ren looked at the map and stroked his chin.

He already knew that every mystery had a trace.

There was no commonality at the scene.

But on the map, the five locations converged at a single mountain range.

From there, everything radiated outward.

It was the only link.

"Ren… are we going there?"

Keno felt a little worried.

It wasn't hard to guess; Ren had been drawing and writing on the map, and she quickly understood his plan.

"Let's go to a nearby town first. I heard there's an Adventurers' Guild there."

Ren folded the map and smiled.

Keno silently followed him.

Soon, they arrived at the city gate.

The guards were still checking travelers.

In today's world, such inspections didn't seem very safe.

Even the undead turned city had strong military forces, yet nothing had changed.

"You two?"

"I'm from the Snow Clan. People often misunderstand me because of my naturally pale skin." Ren skillfully used a magical item from the shadows, and snow appeared at the scene at just the right moment. Everyone believed him.

"I'm from the Red-Eye Clan. We're often misunderstood too, and our clan is more attuned to magic." Keno spoke just as smoothly, after all, the abilities of the Red-Eye Clan were hers to define.

Once it was confirmed that neither of them were undead, they were quickly allowed into the town, moving through it as if they were very familiar with the place.

They headed straight for the Adventurers' Guild. It was extremely noisy here, and compared to guilds in typical fantasy worlds, this one was filled with a strong underworld vibe.

As the two observed their surroundings, they realized they were being watched in return.

Judging by their equipment, it was clear they were carrying expensive gear.

Without adventurer ranks, they were probably just here to experience life. This instantly irritated the adventurers who risked their lives for their meager rewards.

One of them even stretched out his leg right in front of Ren and Keno, closing his eyes and whistling, while the others watched eagerly, hoping to see them humiliated.

Keno immediately lost all respect for these adventurers. They were not even on the level of proper guards, who had formal training—these people were nothing like that.

Ren felt his head ache. A level ten adventurer dared to act like this? He wouldn't stand for it. With a single kick, he struck. The man with closed eyes didn't even notice, still keeping them shut.

"Hey…" Before anyone could warn him, a scream rang out. The man's leg had been completely broken. Ren's profession already gave him immense strength, and with his max-level power, the impact was devastating.

"My leg… heal, someone heal me!" The adventurer clearly wanted to fight back, as he hadn't fainted from the pain.

"That slipped my mind… partial necrosis." Ren pulled out a magic scroll. He had plenty and didn't care about wasting it.

A spell was cast on the man's leg, making the others swallow nervously. Fear of Ren grew instantly.

"I'll give a gold coin to whoever heals me!" the man with the broken leg shouted.

No one refuses free gold. Soon, a team's priest stepped forward, took the coin, and cast a healing spell. The magic took effect, and the man's leg began to recover, though he still couldn't control it.

"I still can't move it. Did you even do anything?" the man complained to the priest.

"Crazy." The priest muttered, then freely cast the same spell on the injured adventurer again. But, he wasn't fully healed.

Only then did everyone turn their eyes to Ren.

The man went completely mad. "What… what did you do to me?"

"Partial necrosis. Healing magic below the sixth tier can't fix it. Your adventuring career ends here." Ren whispered as he stepped closer.

The others broke out in cold sweat. Luckily, they hadn't provoked him. This was a great Buddha—they couldn't afford to anger a great Buddha.

"Sixth tier!? That's legendary magic! You're not human!" Some adventurers spoke up. In their eyes, no human could wield sixth-tier magic.

"Did I say we were human?" Ren countered.

"Undead…" one of them blurted out.

"Hah, shortsighted." Ren didn't bother explaining and took Keno with him toward the bar.

"Welcome, what would you like?"

"Register us as adventurers. I'm from the Snow Clan, she's from the Red-Eye Clan. Is that enough?" Ren said bluntly, handing over a gold piece. He was a 9-5 employee in one world, a millionaire in another.

"That's enough. May I have your names?" the clerk asked.

"I'm Ren. She's Keno."

Keno didn't correct him. They were just adventurers—no need for full names.

Soon, they received the lowest-level badges, only eligible for the most basic quests.

As they were about to leave, the legless man and a group of adventurers blocked the exit. He had seen Ren register and rushed to gather help. That broken leg wasn't going to go unavenged.

"Um… misunderstanding the difference in strength is a very frustrating thing," Ren said, rubbing his forehead.

These adventurers really didn't get it. He had said sixth-tier or higher, not second-tier. Did they not understand what sixth-tier meant for locals like them?

"Stop talking nonsense. Fix my leg, or else…"

For the sake of peace, Ren threw out another magic scroll. Sixth-tier magic: Limb Control. With a squeeze of his hand, their limbs exploded.

The adventurer guild members who saw this all froze in terror. What magic could instantly destroy so many people's limbs at once?
