Chapter 12: A lot of tasks to do

After lunch was over, it was time for the afternoon classes. Amon separated from others; he mainly hung out with Caster's group. It was more comforting since Caster seems to try to include him in every conversation.

Amon, walking towards the wilderness survival class, checked his communicator; both teacher Callistratos and Julius had already sent the topic he would self-study. Teacher Julius sent a document of 20 pages, which he could finish in a day, but Teacher Callistratos sent a 300-page document. He already had a lot on his plate. Amon felt a sense of being overwhelmed. This body he had transmigrated into was very weak. This body was completely unaccustomed to any physical strain. His fight with Nephsi had shown that, after dodging for two minutes, his lungs and muscles were already burning. Without the Divine Protection attribute, he would have been so weak. So training his body was one of his topmost priorities.

And his relationship with Sunny seems to be worsening. Amon saw Sunny enter the cafeteria, but when he saw him, he just scowled and left. 'Did he find out I am a criminal?' thought Amon, ' Well, it seems inevitable, since I can read and write and only people in the gang from the outskirts have any form of literacy.' Amon let out a groaning sigh, then he took a deep breath. He had already reached the front of the class, and now they will be doing practical classes. He opened the classroom door. Both Sunny and teacher Julius were already inside, waiting for him.

Amon let a cheerful smile plaster on his face as he walked inside. He greeted both of them, "Good afternoon, teacher Julius, Sunny." Teacher Julius greeted him back, "Good afternoon, Amon, how was your morning classes?" Amon smiled and said, "It was good, I learned how to diagnose external injuries." Teacher Julius nodded and said, "Quickly take your seat, we have many topics to cover." Amon nodded and walked towards Sunny.

Sunless was already in a foul mood. He was not able to eat lunch because of him. He did not want to associate with him in any form. After watching Amon fight and finding out that he was literate, Sunny had already guessed that Amon might belong to a gang. Keeping distance from someone like him was the best choice.

Amon, with a smile on his face, asked Sunny, "Sunny, why did you not come to the cafeteria for lunch? I did not see you there." Sunny, compelled by his flaw, answered, "Because of you". This answer took Amon aback. He had thought that he and Sunny would have kept a somewhat distant relationship between them, at least respectable. Not being hostile to each other. Amon, trying to maintain a joyful atmosphere, retorted, " Huh, do you not like to see me with other men?" while making a face that looked like it was holding a laugh. Sunny angrily retorted, "No, I do not care about what you do" Amon let out a joyful laugh and said, "Huh, Lol" But before he could say anything more, Teacher Julius interrupted, "Ok, stop talking for now. I will start the lesson." Amon looked at Teacher Julius and nodded. Then he started teaching.

After the class was over, teacher Julius called Amon and said, "Tomorrow I will teach you how to take out meanings from runes, so read the material I have sent you this afternoon." Amon nodded.

Sunny looked at Amon with contempt. But did not say anything. Sunny had already figured out Amon's past, or at least that he might have belonged to a gang, but there was also something else that made him avoid Amon. It was his shadow. With his shadow sense, Sunny could sense Amon's shadow as ancient and deep. Older than any shadow he had sensed. It was like it did not belong to him. He also felt like the shadow was smiling with a grin. This was incredibly creepy and brought chills up Sunny's spine. So he avoided him.

As soon as the class ended, Sunny went to the cafeteria to eat his dinner. He had skipped lunch; he did not want to skip dinner, too. But he also did not want to be seen walking beside Amon, which would cause people to talk to him, too, and he did not want that.

Amon wanted to go with Sunny, but seeing him not want to do anything with him, Amon let him go first.

After dinner, Amon wanted to finish all of Teacher Julius' notes, so he went back to his room to study. He had eaten with Caster's group this time, too.

Amon was now in his dormitory, lying in bed. He checked his communicator; it read. 8:00 PM. He had already read all of teacher Julius's notes and had even already read some pages of teacher Callistratos's notes. It was very easy for him since it was just memorising things.

It took him longer than expected because his mind was filled with things, and he was not able to concentrate. His transmigration made his mind dry; it was so hard to believe. And the second thing that often came to his mind was Cassie, that blind girl. Amon did not know how or what to feel. He felt a sense of guilt, but he was not able to help her in any way. He had seen her during the orientation, but he did not know she was blind then. When he entered the cafeteria today and saw her sitting beside Sunny, he wanted to talk to her, but decided not to since Sunny seemed to mind his presence. So he walked over to Caster's group instead. They seem to like him, and he did not mind their company. He asked about the girl sitting beside Sunny. The joyful atmosphere dropped. Then he learned about her and her name.

No one seems to question his not inviting Sunny since they did not like him and did not want to ruin the mood by talking about him.

Amon let out a sigh. Since he had digested the food he had eaten, he planned to go for a walk and start his exercise. Amon sat up in his bed and put on his shoes.

Amon walked into the huge compound that the academy provided. He passed by some people running on the huge ground. He greeted anyone he knew who passed him. He felt in his pocket a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

'Both of them smoke, him and this original owner, but he was not an addict, and this original owner of this body was, though the addiction did not pass on to him, which was a good thing.' Amon started smoking when he started college. He kept it hidden so that his mom could not find out, and he was pretty successful at it.

Amon took out a cigarette and decided to smoke one before starting his workout. It was not a very wise decision, but he wanted to clear his head for a while. He searched for a bench to sit on. Though it was cold outside since it was winter, and snow was starting to fall. The tracksuit provided him enough shield to stay warm, or maybe it was his Divine Protection attribute.

There he saw someone familiar, a guy with brown hair, reading something from his communicator, looking nervous. Amon recognised the guy; he was the same guy who commented about his looks. Amon thought, 'Why not ?' and walked towards him.
