In downtown Los Angeles, it was just like any other day. Ethan was working at his last part-time job.
After his shift, his boss, William, called him to his office.
Ethan: Hello, boss, why did you call me?
William: Ethan, you're fired. I know you have been working hard, Ethan, but there's nothing I can do about it.
Ethan: Why?
William: I'm sorry, Ethan. It was the decision of the board.
Ethan then left. He was working for a construction company and had also been fired from his previous jobs. This was his last job this week alone he was fired from all his jobs.
In his head, there were so many things going on that he then decided to go to his favorite lake, which was nearby, to cool his head.
As he was on the way, Ethann got a call from an unknown caller.
Call: Hello, is this Mr. Ethan Page
Ethan: Yes, what can I help you with
Call: your parents were both sadly involved in a traffic incident
Ethan started to panic, his mind thinking of the worst at the same time, conflicting with himself. He can't afford to lose them either. How is he supposed to take care of his two little brothers and sister since he lost his last job today?
Ethan: Are they ok? Did something happen to them?
His heart is beating so fast that if you're close to him, to can hear his heart beating.
Call: that's why we called you, they are in critical condition, we don't know if they are gonna make it
Ethan: Which hospital are they located in?
Call: in Central LA Hospital
He then hung up the call and took a taxi, went immediately to the hospital asked the receptionist where his parent were.
She told him which room it was. Ethan went to the room where his parents were. When he got there, he almost fainted because of the state they were in.
Ethan asked the doctor if his parent could be saved.
The doctors told him that they need surgery, which is 50/50.
After countless hours where each minute felt like a year, the doctor finally came out with a sad look on his face and didn't know how to break the bad news to him.
Ethan could already see the sad look on his face and was bracing for the worst, but still, he asked the doctor about his parents, if the surgery was successful.
With a sad look, the doctor told him: Mr. Ethan, your parent didn't make it. We did all we could, but we couldn't save them. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
etahn heart almost went still if his world had come to an end today alone, he lost his last job, and now both of his parents have left him and his siblings in this cruel world alone.
He had already lost everything he cared about. Ethan always smiled even when he was going through tough times, but today, there was no smile on his face like usual; instead, it was replaced by tears. The doctor felt sympathy for and wanted to console him, but he refused.
He then remembered a quote his father used to say: Every person shall taste death, no matter how rich and powerful you In front of death, we are all equal.
While he was having a moment to let loose all of the emotions that had been building up, he then he a sharp mechanical voice in his head.
