Chapter 1 - A typical morning

Engulfed by soothing heat, Lewis came back to his senses. A dazzling and strange dreamworld filled with mysterious murmurs instantly shattered. The slumbering Lewis jumped out of bed abruptly. These kinds of occurrences were happening more frequently, almost always disrupting his so-precious sleep.

This abnormal, throbbing pain in his heart—like someone ruthlessly stomping on it with a hammer—kept bugging Lewis. But that wasn't the only thing. Even more disturbing were the blurry visions he received: a mix of brilliantly shining lights embracing him, cultivating him in a mysterious state of nothingness.

Lewis couldn't see, speak, or hear—just float in a captivating room of darkness, engulfed by chronic outbursts of violet sparks. It was breathtaking, but at the same time, gave off an enigmatic, almost threatening vibe. He was sweating intensely, and his heart was beating like crazy.

And suddenly, his consciousness was thrown right back into his familiar room—half organized, half chaos. Clothes were draped over a chair; the desk was spotless, with neatly stacked textbooks and a planner filled with notes and deadlines. Posters of famous manga series and inspiring athletes lined the walls, slightly peeling at the corners. A few medals hung from a shelf next to old action figures that had never been packed away.

It was a room that mirrored its owner: someone with knowledge, discipline, and a strong passion for both fantasy and sports. It was a room made for someone like Lewis. It was his home.

"Man, not this again," he muttered quietly, not wanting to attract unnecessary attention.

This really is troublesome, isn't it?Why am I suddenly having these excruciating sensations in the middle of the night? It's so irritating. Why can't I just sleep... and how long is this going to keep up?At this rate, sleep is impossible. And I have school today. How bothersome.Ughhhh...

If there was one thing that truly irritated Lewis, it was wasting time on dispensable things—and school definitely fell into that category.

After glancing at his younger brother to make sure he hadn't disturbed him, Lewis got up and decided to go for a jog to clear his mind. He was a rather sporty person, especially fond of competitive sports. A simple jog usually felt like a chore, but today was an exception.

Just as he was exiting the house, someone stopped him.

"Wait up, Lew. Where do you think you're going at this hour? It's half past midnight! Is everything okay with you?"

Of course, it was none other than his mother—his beloved mother. It truly was astonishing how mothers always seemed to sense when something was wrong.

"Ah, nothing, Mum. Nothing to worry about, really. I just needed some fresh air. That's it," Lewis assured.

"Come on, Lew, you know you can't fool me. What's going on?"

Hah... and of course, the ability to spot a lie. What an incredible feat. So unfair...

"It's fine, Mum. Really. Why are you always so worried? I'm okay, so don't bother... please."

With that, Lewis left—trying to get away quickly.

"Ughhh, that boy... What am I going to do with him?!"
