Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Huff~

"Ahh… my jaw hurts."

It had been a while since I laughed that freely — that genuinely. Like I had coughed out the dust of an old self and replaced it with something fresh. Something... alive.

"Alright. Let's check the cheat first."

Would it work just by thinking? Or do I have to call it out?

System...

[Ding~]

[REINCARNATOR PANEL]

NAME: ?????? Kotobuki

AGE: ??

TALENTS:

Superior Mentality (Lv.1)

Lifelong Learner (Lv.1)

CHEAT: [MUSIC SYSTEM (Lv.1)]

Oh? There's even a reincarnator panel… Fancy.

Guess I should try accessing the cheat directly then. I thought aloud:

"Music System."

[🎵🎵~]

Ooh. This time the notification sound was different—gentle musical notes, like soft piano keys brushed with morning dew. That's… actually kind of nice.

[MUSIC SYSTEM (Lv.1)]

• SKILL TREE

• SONG BANK

• TASKS

Three options. Simple. Clean. I guess more will unlock as the system level rises. No need to rush—one step at a time. Let's check the Skill Tree first.

---

[SKILL TREE]

Explore and upgrade your musical proficiencies. Each skill contributes to your ability to compose, perform, and innovate. Skills gain EXP through active practice — not passive time.

---

So... none of my past life guitar experience is carrying over, huh? Makes sense. This is a reset. A second life. Can't skip the grind—even if I have a cheat.

But that's fine. This time, I'll make sure my foundation is solid. No cutting corners.

Guitar? Definitely. But I'm also picking up keyboard — it's more versatile, and frankly, I always regretted not learning it before. And vocals... I have to improve my singing.

I want to sing "Loser" by Kenshi Yonezu. I want to belt out "Flying Boat" by King Gnu with a full band and a roaring crowd. I want the spotlights, the sound, the pulse of hundreds — no — thousands of hearts syncing with mine.

And then there's YOASOBI. Aimer. Ado. Their songs... ahh, I need a female vocalist for those. Someone with a voice that can pierce the soul. I want to create that kind of band. I want to feel music the way I never could before.

This life... it's going to be amazing.

Huff~ Calm down, me. Let's check the other tabs.

Song Bank.

---

[SONG BANK]

A curated archive of musical ideas and inspirations.

[Purchasable Songs] (Locked)

Purchase song inspirations from your past life using SP (Song Points). These are not readymade tracks, but raw fragments — melodies, lyrics, motifs — that must be refined into full songs by you.

Requires:

Composition Lv.2

Lyricism Lv.2

[Composed Songs]

Tracks you've developed — either from scratch or adapted from inspirations. Can be analyzed, refined, and performed. Some may carry emotional resonance or trigger special effects depending on audience impact.

---

So the system won't spoon-feed me. I have to compose songs myself. I actually like that. If it handed me perfect tracks, it wouldn't feel earned. But this way… when I make something good, it'll be mine.

Okay, last tab.

Tasks.

---

[DAILY TASKS]

Your training doesn't end when the melody fades. Complete tasks to earn SP and EXP.

SP (Song Points):

Used to unlock song fragments from your past life.

EXP (Experience Points):

Fuels progression in skill branches under [Skill Tree].

Note: EXP cannot be used to level up [Talents] or the core [Music System].

Examples of Daily Tasks:

Write 16 bars of lyrics. (+20 EXP)

Practice an instrument for 30 minutes. (+15 EXP)

Compose a chorus using one emotional theme. (+25 EXP, +5 SP)

Collaborate with another musician. (Bonus Task, rewards vary)

---

This will be incredibly useful in the early stages. Keeps me disciplined.

But wait—there's a disclaimer...

---

[DISCLAIMER]

The Song Bank section and system EXP consumption for upgrades will remain locked until the host reaches [Composition & Lyricism Lv.2] and age of 16, to prevent overreliance on the system. The system's purpose is to support the host in becoming a musical pioneer in this world — not to hand out shortcuts.

---

…Hah. I actually respect that.

I was planning to take it slow anyway — hone the fundamentals, take it all in step by step. No fast-forwarding through the part where you learn who you are.

Still...

"Isn't there some kind of beginner gift or something?"

[🎵🎵~]

[BEGINNER GIFT RECEIVED...]

Ahh, now we're talking!

[TWO SONGS ACQUIRED:]

1. "Kaze wa Fuiteiru" (The Wind is Blowing) – Inspired by Aimer

2. "Orange Note" – Original Youth Concept, Yorushika-style simplicity

Whoa. If I remember right, both were quite the hits on Spotify back in my old life. That Aimer-inspired track especially — raw, emotional, powerful. These will be good practice pieces.

Then, as if on cue, the screen shifted again.

---

[WOULD YOU LIKE TO BEGIN REINCARNATION?]

[YES]

No [NO] button, huh?

Heh. Well, I wasn't planning to say no anyway.

"Alright then… YES."

---

Suddenly, everything shifted.

I didn't fall — I was pulled.

Dragged down — no, through — the floor of the room. Reality tore open beneath my feet, and what I saw beneath it will stay with me forever.

Threads.

Vast, radiant, and infinite — massive strands of light and color, stretching endlessly in all directions. Flowing. Weaving. Living.

Some threads intertwined like lovers in a dance.

Some broke off abruptly — fragments of lost dreams.

Some stood alone, pulsing dimly in quiet solitude.

And some burned like meteors, clustered together in brilliant fusion.

I didn't need anyone to explain.

I knew.

These were the multiverses — timelines branching from the very room I stood in. And each thread? A life. A beginning. A story.

My story.

One thread pulled at me. Bright, trembling with potential. And I felt it — this was my new home.

I drifted toward it, weightless and warm. My thoughts began to slow.

My eyelids... heavy.

Sleepy…

And then—bursting light. The thread engulfed me.

And I was gone.
