Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Rebirth

Third Person POV

As soon as the dog finished speaking, Akaza felt something unexpected stir inside him—happiness.

Not the fleeting kind. Not a cheap thrill from a small win.

This was something deeper.

For the first time in years, someone had seen his pain, understood his struggle... and truly acknowledged him.

So it wasn't all meaningless, he thought.

The realization wrapped around his soul like a warm blanket.

He let the emotions sink in for a moment, took a steady breath, then looked up.

"Thank you," he said quietly. "That really meant a lot."

Then he blinked. "Wait... I don't even know your name."

The dog blinked back at him—then his eyes widened.

"Oh! Gosh, I totally forgot!" he yelped, tail wagging as he cleared his throat with dramatic flair.

"Ahem! Let me do this properly. Hello, Akaza! My name's Happy. Nice to meet you!"

Akaza watched Happy act like royalty, then gave a small, genuine smile."Nice to meet you too, Happy."

Happy's tail wagged faster. "Alright! Now that introductions are out of the way, let's pick the world you want to reincarnate into!"

Akaza turned toward the glowing screen filled with floating world names.

Some shimmered with excitement, others pulsed with danger.

He scrolled through them.

Attack on Titan? Nope.

Marvel? Not a chance.

DC? Pass.

Berserk? Hell no.

Then something caught his eye. A world that felt right—not perfect, but manageable. Familiar. Flexible.

"I think My Hero Academia would be the best fit," he said.

Happy raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? Why that one?"

Akaza shrugged. "Well, I recently finished One Piece, Demon Slayer, and MHA. One Piece was just too long. Too chaotic. I'd forget half the plot and get lost in all the madness.

Demon Slayer? Way too grim. Demons, blood, tragedy—it's nonstop."

He paused. Happy leaned in a little, sensing there was more.

"But the biggest reason?" Akaza said, lowering his voice. "No internet. Demon Slayer is stuck in the past. One Piece has... whatever that is. I grew up with modern tech, I rather not go back to the dark ages."

Happy laughed. "So you're picking MHA because it has working Wi-Fi and fewer psychological horror arcs?"

"Exactly. And honestly?" Akaza frowned. "I didn't like how the original story played out. Deku survives everything on pure plot armor. Every time he pulled off the impossible, I wanted to throw something."

Happy nodded wisely. "Yeah, I get that. But you as the main character? I can already picture it—first day at U.A., you kick the door open and start throwing hands with the top students. Legendary."

Akaza chuckled as Happy spun around mid-air, rambling about training arcs, rivalries, and over-the-top hero battles.

No wonder he's called Happy, Akaza thought, watching him bounce around like a kid on sugar.

Eventually, Happy came to a stop and shifted to a more serious tone.

"Okay. Final call. You sure about My Hero Academia?"

Akaza nodded. "Yeah. I'm sure."

"Perfect," Happy said.

BZZZT

The screen broke apart into shimmering golden particles.

"Now, time for your gifts."

Happy grinned, "I've got just the setup for you. First, you'll have the ability to grow stronger by training and fighting tougher opponents. The more you push yourself, the stronger you become.

And for your Quirk: Shockwave Manipulation, along with technique development. Kinda like Akaza's demon art from Demon Slayer. Fits your fighting style perfectly."

Akaza narrowed his eyes. "So my body gets stronger and my Quirk evolves?"

"Exactly," Happy nodded. "You'll grow in both ways, side by side. It's a dynamic system."

Akaza clenched his fist. His eyes lit up with purpose. "That's perfect."

Shockwaves. Pure force. Immediate impact.

He could bring redeveloped Akaza's techniques, even adapt moves like Soru and Geppo from One Piece.

"Now, one last thing," Happy said. "A final gift—from all the gods. Just a little thank-you for everything you've done."

Akaza tilted his head. "There's more?"

Happy smiled. "Yep. But I think I'll give you a moment alone for this one."

WHOOSH!

And just like that, Happy vanished.

Akaza stood alone in the silence.

"What did he mean by that...?" he muttered.

Then he heard it.

"Hey, Aki."

He froze.

His heart nearly stopped.

Only one person had ever called him that.

He turned slowly, and slow a woman standing there.

There she was.

Long black hair. A soft smile. Eyes full of warmth and mischief.

"Y-Yuna?" Akaza whispered.

She walked toward him, carefully step by step.

Each one felt like a shock to his chest.

He was afraid, afraid it might be a dream or some cruel illusion.

But when she reached him and gently cupped his face in her hands. It felt real.

"What? Can't recognize your big sister anymore?" she teased.

And the dam broke.

He pulled her into a tight hug. His body trembled.

She too hugged him back like she'd never let go.

"You've been through so much, haven't you?" she whispered.

He couldn't speak. Could barely breathe. He just nodded.

Eventually after calming down, they pulled apart.

"How've you been?" he asked.

"Pretty good," she smiled. "Heaven is more chill than I expected."

Akaza laughed lightly. "You deserve it."

Then—tug!

"OW! What was that for?!" he yelped, as Yuna pulled his ear.

"You were planning to stay, weren't you?" she scolded, still holding his ear.

He hesitated. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I didn't want to leave you alone again."

She glared at him. "And what about you!?"

Her sudden shout stunned him. She'd never yelled at him before.

"Yuna...?"

"I saw everything," she said, voice shaking. "All those years. You kept fighting. You kept hurting. And I couldn't do anything but watch. You carried my pain for years Aki."

Tears streamed down her cheeks.

"So now... I want you to live. Really live. Go to school. Make friends. Fall in love. Or hell, rob a bank and start a fight club! You've always been a battle freak, ever since you starting learning how to fight. Just... stop carrying my burden. Let it go."

Her words hit deep.

And for the first time in over a decade, Akaza allowed himself to ask—

"Live for myself?"

"Yes," she said softly. "You deserve that. Even more than me, Aki."

He stared at her.

Then smiled. His mind made up.

"I'll go."

She smiled too—proud, relieved, happy.

"Then enjoy your life, Aki."

He looked at his hands. They were starting to fade. It was time.

"I guess... this is it."

"I guess so," she whispered.

"Thank you... for everything, onee-san."

And with that, Akaza faded away—off to a new beginning, a new chapter, a new life.

Yuna POV (First Person)

"Thank you for everything, onee-san."

And then… he vanished.

Gone, to start a new life.

The moment his presence disappeared, the tears came rushing back.

WOOSH

"Why are you crying now?" asked Happy as he reappeared beside me.

"He's never called me onee-san before…" I whispered, wiping my tears. "It felt… really nice to hear it."

But just then, something dawned on me—something really important.

"HAPPY!" I shouted suddenly.

He flinched so hard his fur puffed up. "W-What!?"

"Please, tell me there's a girl in MHA with similar brain cells to Aki."

"…What does that even mean?" he asked, genuinely confused.

Of course he wouldn't get it. I sighed dramatically.

"In simpler terms, is there a girl in that world who's a total battle freak like him? Someone who enjoys the thrill of fighting?"

Because if there wasn't...

Aki would absolutely stay single for the rest of his life.

Happy tilted his head and started thinking. "Well… not really in his age group. But there is Mirko. She's 11 years older than Akaza's age in the story."

A screen popped up above him, showing a tanned woman with white bunny ears, wearing a sleeveless leotard with dark purple trim—and a wild grin on her face.

My eyes sparkled. That grin. I knew that look. I'd seen it hundreds of times on Aki's face during his sparring sessions.

"Her. She's perfect," I said, pointing at the screen. "Please, Happy—just tweak the story a bit. Make her the same age as him. If not, he'll definitely end up single for rest of his life!"

Happy's face turned serious. He lowered his head and started thinking out loud.

"She didn't have too much narrative impact early on... She played key roles in later missions, sure, but those could be reassigned to another hero... hmm…"

He paced in mid-air, mumbling to himself.

Then, after a minute, he turned toward me with a proud, toothy grin.

"Yeah, I think I can do that. I'll substitute her out in the timeline and tweak the world for Akaza."

And with that, he began to glow—a brilliant, golden light radiating from his body.

A minute later, the glow dimmed.

"Done." Happy declared proudly.

I smiled at him, heartfelt and full of gratitude. "Thank you, Happy. Really… thank you."

Then I turned to place where Aki had just vanished from.

Good luck with your life, Aki.

I'll be watching over you, always… my dear little brother.
