Han Feng was instantly intrigued.
If Dainsleif also ended up with a weird reward, then the two of them would really be brothers in misfortune— like the Mondstadt duo, Kaeya and Diluc.
Though to be fair, those two were luckier.
At least they got Devil Fruit abilities.
(One being the "Face-Face Fruit," and the other… well, the "Flame-Flame Fruit experience card.")
At that moment, the system refreshed again:
[Customer Dainsleif has finished reading That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and received the reward — "Rimuru Role Card."]
[Rimuru Role Card: The better and longer you can play the role, the higher your chance of gaining the powers of the Demon Lord Rimuru.]
[Note: To assist the user, two transformation forms have been granted — Slime Form and Beautiful Girl Human Form.]
"Now that's an interesting reward,"
Han Feng said, his eyes lighting up.
It was simple— the more convincingly Dainsleif acted like Rimuru, and the longer he stayed in character, the greater his chance of inheriting the Slime Demon Lord's powers.
But…
how could a tall, stoic man like Dainsleif act like Rimuru?
The system, apparently, had anticipated this problem— so it helpfully gave him two forms:
one being Rimuru's original slime form, and the other… his human form—a cute blue-haired girl.
"Oh-ho… this is gonna be fun. I can't wait to see which one he chooses,"
Han Feng said, a mischievous smile forming on his face.
A dazzling beam of light descended, enveloping Dainsleif.
Moments later, the glow faded— and a card appeared in his hand.
On one side of the card was a blue slime, and on the other, a cute blue-haired girl.
"Boss Han, what's this card?"
Dainsleif asked curiously, flipping it over.
Since he had just read the manga, he instantly recognized both figures— the slime was Rimuru's true body, and the girl was his human mimic form.
But what exactly did the card do?
It couldn't be just for collection, could it?
"That's the Rimuru Role Card,"
Han Feng explained with a grin.
"The longer and better you play the role, the higher the chance you'll gain Rimuru's abilities."
"A reward like that exists?"
Aether exclaimed in surprise.
In a way, his own "Dark Yugi outfit" was also a kind of role-play reward—
just without the powers.
"You mean I could actually gain Rimuru's abilities?"
Dainsleif asked, his voice trembling slightly.
He knew just how powerful Rimuru was.
In the manga, Rimuru was no mere slime— he was the Lord of Monsters, the True Demon Lord.
He could wield elemental and spirit magic, had infinite regeneration, universal perception, and shapeshifting.
And, of course, his unique skills were terrifying:
"Predator," which devoured and stole abilities;
"Great Sage," which mastered the world's logic;
and "Degenerate," which fused abilities into new powers.
Teyvat's slimes couldn't even compare.
But then Dainsleif frowned.
"Role-play…? How exactly am I supposed to do that?"
Was he supposed to hop around pretending to be a slime?
That sounded worse than Aether's spiky-hair transformation!
Unable to figure it out, he turned to Han Feng.
"Boss Han, how do I… play the role exactly?"
Han Feng's smile grew mysterious.
"That's where the card's two transformation forms come in."
"Two forms? Don't tell me…"
Dainsleif had a bad feeling.
"Yup," Han Feng nodded, "just as you're thinking — one is the slime form, and the other is Rimuru's cute human-girl form."
Dainsleif's face instantly darkened.
Now he understood.
He could only role-play properly if he transformed— either into a bouncing slime… or into a beautiful girl.
And let's be real— slime form would make it impossible to live normally or fight.
That left only one option: the girl form.
"…A grown man… a former knight of Khaenri'ah's royal guard…
turning into a cute girl?!"
Just the thought made him want to sink into the ground.
Still, giving up wasn't an option.
This was a chance to obtain incredible power.
If acting could bring him even a chance at the Demon Lord's might, he'd do it.
After all, he had a greater goal— to one day gain a time-traveling ability from Han Feng's shop,
to return five hundred years to the past, and save Khaenri'ah from its fate.
That dream would require power beyond imagination.
"Hah… If it means saving my homeland, then becoming a girl for a while is no big deal."
He exhaled deeply, his resolve firming.
After all, hardly anyone in Teyvat even recognized him now.
And once he changed forms— as long as he didn't speak, no one would know who he was.
With that comforting thought, Dainsleif finally made up his mind.
"Use Role Card!"
The card in his hand dissolved into motes of light, merging into his body.
A strange energy filled him, tingling in his veins.
"I wonder what this 'acting effect' looks like…"
he murmured, before activating it.
A flash of light enveloped him.
When it faded—
Dainsleif was gone.
In his place stood a blue-haired girl with clear golden eyes, a soft expression, and delicate features.
"W-wow… what a cute girl…"
Aether blurted out without thinking.
Then realization hit him, and his face went pale.
He pointed with a trembling hand.
"Y-you're… Dain?!"
