Chapter 1 - Toxic

You know when people get the most pissed off?

When they spill their coffee?

Or maybe when they eat some overpriced garbage that tastes like crap?

Nope, neither of those.

The real answer is "when a good novel suddenly goes completely off the rails."

"Come on, this is just ridiculous."

The guy muttered with a look of pure disbelief on his face.

At first, he couldn't believe his eyes. But nothing changed when he looked again.

The more he stared at the screen, the angrier he got.

"It was going so well, and now suddenly this..."

He let out a deep sigh, but it didn't help.

Because this particular author was famous for never revising their work. Countless readers had left comments and sent messages over the years, but there had never been any content revisions—hell, not even a single reply.

But this was just too much.

"...I can't let this slide."

Even if he wouldn't get a response.

He had to at least leave some pointed feedback. Maybe that would help ease this frustration, even just a little.

Tap tap tap—

The cheerful sound of fingers dancing across the keyboard filled the room.

Some time later.

<...So I was thinking it might feel more natural if you revised it this way.>

His lengthy feedback was complete.

Maybe it was because he'd gotten everything off his chest? The guy's scowl softened a bit.

That's when it happened.

Ding—

[Notification]: The author has replied to your comment.

"Huh?"

The guy's face went blank for a moment.

What? They'd never replied to anyone before.

His heart pounding, he clicked on the notification message.

What appeared was an incredibly simple response:

"...That's it?"

And they didn't even use formal language?

The guy's stunned expression gradually turned red with anger.

SLAM— Tap tap tap tap tap!

His fingers flew across the keyboard like a madman.

He typed out criticism of all the terrible plot developments from chapter 1 to now, plus added, "I could write better than this with my eyes closed and both hands tied behind my back!"

Shortly after sending his furious reply, the author responded again.

Another short response.

And the author's reaction was disappointingly... well, disappointing.

"Ha, haha."

All he could do was laugh bitterly.

Right then, the guy suddenly felt dizzy.

"Ugh!"

The scenery flipped upside down in an instant.

The whole world spun around him, and he slowly toppled backward.

Oh right. They say when people get really angry, they grab the back of their neck and collapse. This must be that.

With that brief thought, the guy passed out completely.
