Chapter 13 - Personality

Xavier sat down tired, wincing at the claw slash on his back. His uniform at the castle was now torn with the scratches and bruises he had received. At least, the creatures were dead.

"This is so painful." He groaned, wincing at the injury on his back. "But it was fun."

He did love fighting them. Back on Earth, he had fought only to defend those bullied and mistreated. But here, he was fighting for the thrill, the satisfaction, the pleasure of fighting strong opponents, wild creatures, overpowering them, dominating them, and making them feel fear.

Just at the thought of it, his face was down, an uncontrollable, almost maniacal, wild smile plastered.

This was it.

His true expression.

Everybody knew him as the quiet, silent type. The person whose silence could instill fear in anyone he meets. He knew people called him moody, calculating, only striking out when disturbed.

But that was the character he had created to hide his real personality. His sadistic personality.

Being here in this sick dungeon had brought it out, and he was grateful. He could finally be himself and enjoy every moment of it.

"Pale Ones," He whispered. "Come, satisfy me."

[Are you done being weird, master?]

Xavier snapped out of his trance in an instant. It wasn't good that the system was even noticing it.

"System, you have humour, don't you?" He asked, sheepishly.

[Not really, host. But anyone will notice when someone's not in their right mind.]

"Oh," Xavier spoke, wiping his brow. "System, when do I summon new weapons. The Gauntlets are great, but I need to have other cool weapons."

[You will only be able to get new ancient weapons when you complete missions that the system will provide. Also, please know that you've not created the abilities of the weapons you have.]

"Wait," Xavier asked, shocked. "Can I create abilities for the weapons I have? I thought the gauntlet would already have the abilities I need to go unlock."

[The system has given you the ability to create your own abilities for any weapon you possess. But you can only create four abilities so you must think wisely.]

Xavier grinned in delight. This was awesome. Truly awesome. Truly better than nothing. His system may not be on par with the systems he had read in light novels, but it was efficient.

"What about the Mastery of the weapons?" He asked. "I saw the notifications popping up. What's that about?"

[Training or fighting the weapon gives it experience which helps the user to be familiar and experienced with the weapon. Also once you have mastered the weapon, you are awarded another weapon.]

Xavier grinned in delight. This was so unbelievable. He could get other ancient weapons for free. No strings attached. This was truly awesome.

"System." He called out. "Show me my stats".

Level: 15

Strength:46 /1000

Stamina: 45/1000

Speed: 50/1000

Endurance: 47/1000

Dexterity:44/100

What about the rank of weapons I get?" Xavier asked, massaging his legs. "Can you explain the ranking system?"

[D-Rank — Dormant Relics]

[Functionality]: Basic enhancement; minimal resonance with the wielder.

[Craft Origin]: Often mass-produced or ritual-forged during minor conflicts.

[Energy Signature]: Weak and unstable; may flicker or fade under stress.

[Combat Impact]: Marginal advantage in skirmishes; easily outclassed by modern equivalents.

[Bonding Potential]: Low. Rarely responds to emotional or spiritual input.

[D-Rank weapons are entry-level artifacts, often degraded by time and stripped of their original potency. They serve more as historical curiosities than reliable tools of war.]

---

[ C-Rank — Functional Artifacts]

[Functionality]: Consistent performance with limited elemental or kinetic augmentation.

[Craft Origin]: Forged by trained hands, often under the guidance of minor deities or guilds.

[Energy Signature: Stable but shallow; reacts to basic commands.

[Combat Impact]: Effective in controlled engagements; may falter under chaotic conditions.

[Bonding Potential: Moderate. Can form temporary links with users through ritual or repeated use.

[C-Rank weapons are dependable and battle-tested, often used by disciplined warriors or regional defenders. Their power is finite, but their reliability makes them valuable.]

---

[B-Rank — Rare Constructs]

[Functionality: Advanced capabilities including elemental fusion, reactive shielding, or adaptive targeting.

[Craft Origin]: Created by master artisans or during celestial alignments.

[Energy Signature]: Dense and layered; may exhibit sentient behavior or memory retention.

[Combat Impact]: Capable of shifting battlefield dynamics; often requires tactical finesse.

[Bonding Potential]: High. Responds to emotional states, combat rhythm, and user intent.

[ B-Rank weapons are rare and revered, often tied to specific bloodlines or historical events. They begin to blur the line between tool and companion.]

---

[A-Rank — Legendary Instruments]

[Functionality]: Multidimensional manipulation, terrain distortion, and temporal acceleration.

[Craft Origin]: Forged in sanctified forges or under divine mandate.

[Energy Signature]: Complex and evolving; may alter based on wielder's growth.

[Combat Impact]: Dominates conventional warfare; often requires restraint to avoid collateral damage.

[Bonding Potential]: Deep. Forms symbiotic relationships with chosen wielders, sometimes permanently.

[A-Rank weapons are legends incarnate—each one a chapter in the annals of war. They are not wielded; they choose.]

---

[S-Rank — Mythic Catalysts]

[Functionality]: Reality-bending, soul manipulation, and mass-scale influence.

[Craft Origin]: Conceived during cosmic upheavals or divine rebellion.

[Energy Signature]: Volatile and overwhelming; may corrupt or elevate the user.

[Combat Impact4: Capable of rewriting battle outcomes, altering fate threads.

[Bonding Potentia]l: Selective. Often requires trials, sacrifice, or ancestral resonance.

[S-Rank weapons are mythic forces—feared, worshipped, and sealed. Their awakening often signals the rise or fall of empires.]

---

[SS-Rank — Forbidden Engines]

[Functionality]: Dimensional collapse, resurrection protocols, and entropy control.

[Craft Origin]: Born from forbidden rites or paradoxical technologies.

[Energy Signature]: Chaotic and self-aware; may resist control or seek dominance.

[Combat Impact]: Cataclysmic. Capable of annihilating civilizations or reshaping planetary ecosystems.

[Bonding Potential]: Dangerous. Bonding may result in irreversible transformation or loss of identity.

[SS-Rank weapons are sealed for a reason. Their use is a gamble with existence itself.

---

[SSS-Rank — Primordial Constructs4

[Functionality]: Universal rewriting, law inversion, and genesis manipulation.

[Craft Origin]: Unknown. Believed to predate time, forged by entities beyond comprehension.

[Energy Signature]: Infinite recursion; defies classification and measurement.

[Combat Impact]: Transcends warfare. Alters the fabric of reality, causality, and perception.

[Bonding Potential]: Undefined. May not recognize the concept of a wielder.

[ SSS-Rank weapons are not artifacts—they are phenomena. Their presence alone reshapes destiny.]

"So that explains it," Xavier muttered. "Zenrokushu Gauntlets fall under D-Rank. And then the Burning Lion Shield falls under B-Rank which makes it more powerful too. Guess I'll use it soon."

He then remembered the folded sheet of paper in his pocket.

"Ah, I forgot about it." He thought.

He removed the frayed and old paper from his pocket and stared at it for a moment.

"Maybe there's something on it." He thought aloud.

He proceeded to unfold the paper smoothly, straighten it, and began to read.

It was time to see what was on the paper and maybe find out what was wrong in this place and how the man died.
