Chapter 20 - The Whisper in The Wall

Later that night, Kin Ouren couldn't fall asleep. He kept tossing and turning on the bed while Vixen Sature slept peacefully beside him. A strange uneasiness kept building inside him, as if something—someone—was watching.

The room was dark, silent, yet it felt heavy, like the walls themselves were breathing.

Around 2:45 AM, Kin sat up suddenly.

He heard it again.

A whisper.

Soft. Slithering. Creeping near his ear.

> "Kin… Kin… You've come back… You escaped last time… but not this time…"

Kin's eyes widened in horror. The voice wasn't his imagination—it was real.

His throat dried up, hands trembling. He looked around the dark corners of the room—everything looked the same, yet not the same.

And then—

From the wooden wall beside the old window, a faint tap-tap-tap sound echoed.

The air turned cold.

Kin could see his own breath.

And slowly, a shadowy hand started to emerge from the wall—long, bony fingers scratching against the wood as if trying to crawl into the room.

Kin gasped and tried to scream—but no sound came out. His body was frozen, trapped in silent terror.

Then suddenly—

A loud creak!

The wardrobe door opened on its own.

The whisper came again—closer now.

> "Banja can't save you this time…"

Kin clutched his blanket tightly and finally screamed,

"Vixen!!"

Vixen Sature jolted awake, sensing the shift in Kin's pheromone—full of fear, trembling, soaked in distress.

Immediately, Vixen rushed to Kin, pulling him into his arms.

"Shhh... It's okay, I'm here. It's just a nightmare, love," he whispered, holding Kin tightly.

But Kin kept crying, voice cracking, "No... it wasn't a dream! It came out of the wall! It spoke to me!"

Vixen looked around the room—nothing. Just darkness and cold air.

He held Kin's face gently. "I believe you," he said, voice calm but serious. "I'll protect you. No matter what."

As Kin buried his face in Vixen's chest, Vixen released his alpha pheromone, strong and divine, warming the air around them and cleansing the space of all lingering darkness.

Outside the room, in the hallway—

A soft hiss echoed.

And then—silence.
