Chapter 8: Vendetta and the Sarcastic Valentine
The Arrow Cave was abuzz with a new kind of energy. The team had a new "asset," and they were still trying to figure out what to do with him. Adam, of course, was loving every minute of it. He was a walking, talking anomaly, and he was reveling in the chaos he caused.
"I'm like the team's emotional support animal. But instead of cuddles, I give them sarcasm. It's a lot more effective, actually. It's like a mental reset button. Oliver's brooding? I'll make a joke about his leather jacket. Felicity's rambling? I'll make a joke about her hacking skills. Diggle's stoicism? I'll make a joke about his lack of facial expressions. I'm a one-man comedy show, and the tickets are free."
The next canon event was the arrival of the Huntress. Helena Bertinelli. A dangerous, beautiful, and utterly unhinged woman who was on a mission of revenge. Adam, with his meta-knowledge, knew that she and Oliver would form a dangerous partnership. A toxic power couple that was all brooding stares and violence.
[Mission: Diffuse the situation with Helena.]
Adam sighed. "Guido, that's not a mission. That's a suicide note. This is a classic CW teen drama plotline. You don't 'diffuse' a plotline like this. You just watch the drama unfold and hope nobody dies. And if someone does, you just pretend it was a 'tragic and powerful moment' for character growth."
He knew he couldn't just stand by and watch. Helena was a powder keg, and Oliver was a lit match. He had to do something. He had to use his Gu. This wasn't a time for subtlety or jokes. This was a time for action.
When Oliver and Helena finally met in the Arrow Cave, the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Helena was a force of nature, all fire and rage. Oliver was a force of nature, all brooding and self-loathing. They were a match made in a very, very dark place.
Adam, for the first time, was serious. He wasn't cracking jokes. He was watching, his hand on his gut, where he could feel the buzzing of his Gu. He knew this wasn't going to end well.
Oliver and Helena got into a heated argument. They were yelling at each other, their voices echoing in the cave. Oliver was trying to reason with her, to get her to see that her path was a self-destructive one. Helena was just yelling about revenge.
That's when it happened. Helena, in a fit of rage, pulled out a crossbow and aimed it at Oliver. Adam's eyes widened. This wasn't supposed to happen. This was a deviation.
He acted on instinct. He focused on his D-Rank Attack Gu. The buzzing sensation in his gut intensified, and a small, almost invisible blade of wind, a razor-sharp gust, shot out from his hand. It wasn't a powerful attack. It was a surgical strike. It hit the crossbow, not Helena, and it sliced through the string, rendering the weapon useless.
The crossbow clattered to the floor. Helena stared at it, her eyes wide with shock. Oliver and Diggle stared at Adam, their expressions a mix of confusion and awe.
"See?" Adam said, his voice shaking just a little. "Non-lethal. We should try that more often. It's a lot less messy. And it saves on cleaning bills."
Helena, recovering from her shock, glared at Adam. "What was that?"
"It's a Gu," Adam said, shrugging. "A magical bug that gives me powers. It's a long story. I'll tell you all about it over a cup of coffee. We can even get a latte. I'm a big fan of lattes."
Helena just shook her head, a confused look on her face. Oliver, meanwhile, looked at Adam with a new sense of respect.
[Mission Complete. Situation with Helena Diffused.]

Adam felt a new, faint buzzing sensation, a feeling of lightness and speed, in his body. The Light Gu. It wasn't a flashy power. It was a subtle one. A Gu that made him a little more agile, a little more flexible. A Gu that made him a little more... light.
"An E-Rank Gu. The budget option. I'm basically a superhero who can move slightly faster and whose main power is sarcasm. It's like being a superhero who's also a sidekick. To himself. This is a lot more complicated than I thought it would be."
