Chapter 5 - It was me who came first...

The afternoon class was held on the school playground, focusing on Kunai throwing.

Kunai is the most frequently used weapon by Ninja.

Close-quarters combat, long-range throwing, setting traps… its uses are incredibly wide-ranging, making it a weapon every Ninja must master.

For children who had just enrolled like them, mastering Kunai and Shuriken throwing was the fastest way to gain effective combat power. Kakashi had already mastered the technique of Kunai throwing, so he didn't practice; instead, he taught Toki.

Kakashi took out a Kunai and explained the techniques of throwing it, such as the Kunai's center of gravity, the arm's movement during release, etc.

He explained it so meticulously that Toki almost had the illusion that he could do it too.

After the explanation, Kakashi threw the Kunai in his hand. With a 'swish,' the Kunai accurately hit the bullseye, and its tail even vibrated with a 'humming' sound.

"So amazing," Toki couldn't help but exclaim.

But Kakashi merely crossed his arms, his tone unconcerned: "This is just a Ninja's basic skill. You try it."

"Tch! What's there to be proud of? I can do it too!"

Obito's unwilling voice rang out, and immediately after, he also threw the Kunai in his hand with force.

With a 'swish,' it also hit the target, but it was still a bit off from the bullseye, and the angle at which the Kunai pierced the target was also problematic. Nevertheless, Obito's performance was quite satisfactory, though it fell short compared to Kakashi.

"You're also very good, Obito," Toki complimented with a smile.

No sooner had he finished speaking than Obito showed a bit of shyness, stammering, "That… that's just a Ninja's basic skill!"

Beside the two, Rin Nohara covered her mouth with her hand and chuckled softly.

"Sigh," Kakashi sighed, "Toki, you try it."

"Mm."

Toki put away his other thoughts, held the Kunai according to the method Kakashi had just taught, aimed at the target in front of him, made a couple of practice motions, and then threw it with force.

The Kunai flew past the target, hitting the tree trunk behind it, producing a 'humming' sound.

Kakashi handed him a Kunai: "Too much force. Try to reduce some strength."

Toki didn't speak; he just took the Kunai, aimed, threw, and hit the target.

"Raise your hand a little, and reduce some more force."

"Swish!"

"Very good, again."

"Swish!"

"Again."

"Swish!"

"Come on."

...

The target was already covered in Kunai, and some fallen Kunai lay on the ground.

Toki's breathing was slightly ragged: "Kakashi, thank you."

"No big deal. Go collect the Kunai," Kakashi waved his hand and walked to a nearby chair to rest.

Obito walked over and sat beside him: "Kakashi, are you teaching him so diligently because of what happened this morning?"

Kakashi answered without looking up: "No."

"How unusual," Obito smacked his lips, "Unless you feel guilty, I can't imagine why you'd be willing to spend your time teaching someone completely unrelated."

"You're wrong."

"Do you think I slandered you?"

"No," Kakashi shook his head, "Toki isn't an unrelated person; he's my friend."

Obito almost thought he misheard: "You haven't even admitted I'm your friend, and how long have you known him?"

Kakashi glanced at him and continued: "Is there any necessary connection between being friends and how long you've known someone?"

"Then do you think we're friends?" Obito asked again.

Kakashi didn't answer, neither denying nor admitting.

"Hey!" Obito grew anxious, "Say something! Say something!"

Annoyed by his persistence, Kakashi finally couldn't help but say: "My dad doesn't let me make friends with idiots."

"What do you mean?" Obito paused, his brain's CPU rapidly whirring.

"Am I an idiot? No. Are we not friends? Also no..."

Kakashi rolled his Byakugan, clearly not speaking, yet seemingly saying everything.

On the other side, Toki collected all the Kunai around the target, leaving only the one he threw first. It was stuck in the tree behind him, and because he threw it with too much force, more than half of the Kunai was embedded in the trunk, making it difficult to pull out.

Toki gripped the Kunai's handle and wiggled it up and down. After it loosened a bit, he pulled hard, but the grass under his feet was a bit slippery, and combined with the inertia of the Kunai pulling out, Toki fell to the ground.

The pulled-out Kunai flew from his hand, cutting a wound on his forearm, and crimson blood instantly gushed out.

One mistake, one shot, one release, one internal, one content, all in one look!

The Kunai was quite sharp; Toki hadn't even realized he was injured yet, but Rin Nohara had already run over.

"Toki, don't move. Don't use this hand at all. I'll treat your wound right away."

She took out alcohol and gauze from her portable Ninja tool pouch. Immediately after, Kakashi and Obito also ran over, their actions attracting Yoshinaka Yuki's attention.

Rin Nohara's idol was Tsunade, and she had started learning Medical Ninjutsu a long time ago. Although she hadn't mastered Medical Ninjutsu yet, her technique for treating external injuries was no worse than that of doctors at Konoha Hospital.

She knelt on the ground, pressing her right hand on the bleeding blood vessel to reduce blood loss. Her left hand held a bandage to her mouth, biting it open with her teeth...

"Rin, let me help you." Obito was about to step forward when Kakashi pulled him back.

"Do you know Medical Ninjutsu? Don't go up there and make things worse."

"I..." Obito couldn't retort and could only return dejectedly.

Rin Nohara's movements looked a bit flustered, but they were actually quite organized. She completed the hemostasis and bandaging at the fastest speed. In the end, she even had the leisure to tie a bow.

"Done!"

Her face bloomed with her usual gentle smile, though the blood stains made her look a little dishevelled, but she didn't care.

At that moment, Obito suddenly felt a strong sense of crisis.

Both Kakashi and Rin, why were they both so close to Toki?

They had only known each other for less than half a day, and it was me who came first!

Yoshinaka Yuki stepped forward and asked, "What happened here?"

Toki recounted what had just happened, then pointed to the ground, to the marks he had made.

Yoshinaka Yuki let out a long sigh: "This is only your first day of school... Never mind, thankfully nothing major happened. Do you want to go to the hospital to get it checked?"

Toki shrugged, not taking it to heart: "It's fine. I'm from the Vortex Clan. Maybe by the time school is over, this wound will already be mostly healed."

The Vortex Clan's vitality was notoriously tenacious; this was well-known.

Yoshinaka Yuki nodded: "That's true, but for now, you should rest well and suspend training."

"Then can I go back to the classroom and read?"

"No problem," Yoshinaka Yuki agreed.

Just then, Rin Nohara suddenly said: "Teacher, I'll go back to the teaching building to wash up, and then go tutor Toki."

"No problem either," Yoshinaka Yuki also agreed.

Obito was unwilling and followed closely: "Teacher, I'll also go tutor Toki."

"Why are you, a dead last, trying to join in the fun?" Yoshinaka Yuki rejected him without hesitation.

"I... Oh."
