Chapter 1 - Aurelius Cielnoire

"Stepping foot into the unknown has its own consequences. Be it good or bad, we will never know."—A borrowed quote from King Grimias XVI's novel called: The Forgotten Tale of an Otherworlder. (King Grimias XVI is a fictional character within this novel. He'll appear in future chapters.)

11:30 AM, Tuesday, December 25th – Year 2973.

Somewhere in the Eastern Continent's Everia Kingdom in the city of Wihlock...

Clack!

"Ugh.. seriously? I truly have no idea why you always lock the door of your room."

A voice can be heard groaning outside the room. The voice clearly belonged to a girl that was about the age of a highschooler—first to second year, perhaps?

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Hey Aury, wake up! Mom's calling downstairs for breakfast! Wake up now or else we'll be late for our first day at the academy, you wouldn't want that would you?" The girl called out in a loud voice, "Hurry up before I destroy this door and drag you downstairs myself!"

As she said this, she stood still in front of the door, hoping to get a response. However, minutes ticked by—yet the girl still heard no response from the inside.

"Ugh! I hate you!" with this, she struck the door one last time before leaving. Her footsteps echoing in the hallway."

-Meanwhile, inside the room...-

Aurelius who was currently inside of his own bathroom, (His room includes a small bathroom inside,) stared at his own reflection present in the bathroom mirror in a daze. Seemingly unaware of the fact that his sister knocked on the door of his room multiple times just a few minutes ago.

W-wait a minute! this.. this is me?! Aurelius asked himself inwardly, a mixture puzzlement and anxiousnes washing over him as sweat began rolling down his forehead. Both of his hands were trembling slightly as they held onto the edge of the bathroom sink.

The reflection shown in the mirror was in fact his, but also—not quite.

In the mirror, was the face of a person—a young man to be precise—that had a striking appearance!

An individual with a tousled black hair, pair of sharp eyes that resembled the color of the endless sea and a flawless skin with a fair complexion. To call the person 'above-average' was an understatement. He was extremely attractive! Definitely the type that could easily win a girl's heart!

However seeing his (own?) face did not help ease his anxiousness at all—it even made it worse in all honesty.

Aurelius looked down and then placed a hand on his forehead before muttering to himself, his voice barely above a whisper, "I'm screwed, totally screwed."

This place doesn't feel like Earth at all: his face don't look the same, his room is completely different and even his voice and clothing are different

Everything.

After a few moments, Aurelius slowly lifted up his gaze on the bathroom sink and focused his gaze at the bathroom mirror again. Albeit, this time his expression was calmer but his face remained slick with sweat.

There's no doubt...

I...

am inside of the world of the novel—a novel that I haven't even finished yet

"Ascension of the Chosen."

And I transmigrated into the body of the main antagonist.

Aurelius Cielnoire.
