Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Secret

Randall's POV

"Give your best to win this game! We will win this game and go to the finals!" Our couch shouted.

"Let's go, Falcon!"

"Go Falcon!" My teammates yelled.

I put on my elbow pads, ignoring their excitement. I grabbed my helmet and looked for my stick when suddenly my coach approached me.

"Randall!" He yelled.

I sighed while searching for my stick, "You don't need to shout, couch. I'm near and can hear you clearly."

"You owe this game to your father because if it wasn't for him, you wouldn't be playing today. You are our star player, but I will not let you play with failing grades and bad behavior."

I give up looking for my stick and lean on the wall before answering him, "Look, couch. I don't care if my father convinces you to let me play, so I'm not going to feel any conscience about my actions. Now, would you let me find my stick?"

He shook his head in disbelief, "Go ahead. The game is about to start in ten minutes."

I rose and headed outside the locker room to find my stick because it's unlikely to disappear at this very important moment. The hallway was quiet because all the students were already on the field, but something caught my interest when a silhouette of four men appeared behind me. I watch their shadows moving in the same direction as mine.

I paused before exhaling deeply and turned around, "Did Felix send you to kidnap me?"

"He wants to talk to you before the game," Kevin said.

I chuckled, "Talk to me? Nah. I'm not interested." I turned around and was about to continue walking when he stopped me.

"I bet you're looking for your stick," he stated.

"I don't care if you have it. I'm going," I replied.

"Then we have to use force, Randall. Felix wanted to speak with you urgently."

"Fine. Lead the way," I muttered.

Kevin walked past me and I followed them to the left hallway, which leads behind the building we're in. We reached our destination and weren't surprised to see Felix flirting with one of their cheerleaders.

"Your minion told me that you wanted to speak to me," I said, wasting no time.

He kissed the girl before motioning her to leave, which she obeyed. Felix crossed his legs and flashed that annoying smirk on his lips, wanting me to remove that.

"Let us win," he stated.

I laughed, "Seriously? We've been at this conversation since day one, Felix. I'm the star player of the Falcon and have been famous since we were in high school. Why would I degrade myself to satisfy your desire?"

"Exactly. You've been winning continuously and it's time for you to give the trophy," he reasoned.

I crossed my arms and answered, "Just tell me the truth, Felix. Has your dad been forcing you to be the top one in hockey since he couldn't get any investments?"

His face darkened, "It has nothing to do with my father, Randall. Let us win, as simple as that."

"No," I refuse. "Everyone knows that your dad, the alpha, was doubting your capabilities as a leader. That's why until now he couldn't hand you the pack you've been dreaming of."

He gritted his teeth in anger, "Mock me until you can, Randall. You don't know what is going on in our house, so whatever rumor you heard is not true! My father will hand me the pack because I am capable of becoming a leader!"

"Well, to me you're just a jerk who was begging me to let your loser team win."

"Felix. Look what we found," a young man's voice made us turn at the door.

I was startled to see Althea in his hands, making me wonder how the hell they found her. F*ck! I told Zachary to keep an eye on her!

Vince pushed Althea towards us, and she was avoiding making eye contact with me. Meanwhile, he stood next to his boss with a grimful smirk on his lips.

"I found her listening at the door. I bet she's connected with Randall," he commented.

"No, she's not."

Felix looked at us with interest, like he sensed that I was hiding something. "I'm the one you need, right? So let her go."

He stood up, walked towards me, and said, "Did you know her?"

"No. But I'm not letting you hurt her, Felix."

"Then do what I said and we'll let her go since she seemed important to you," he murmured.

I glanced at Althea, and she was staring at me while holding an inch of fabric of my hockey uniform. She looked away, avoiding my eyes. They must not know she's my mate, or else Felix will find a way to threaten me.

Damnit! How the hell did she follow me here?! I thought everyone was on the field, but her curiosity led us to this situation.

"The Falcon has been winning four times, and if you win today, you're going to the finals, and we will be the losers again. Let the tigers win, and we will spare that human's life…"

"Stay away from her if you want to get out of this place safely," Zachary warned.

At last. I can't show Althea my claws or even kill these bastards.

"Are they bothering you, Randall? Let me know because I'm ready to break some bones," Axel started stretching his arms.

"The couch is already looking for you, Randall. The game is about to start," Zach said.

I nod before turning my gaze back to Felix. I walked closer to him, but kept our distance. "Winning isn't about flashing it, Felix. If you love what you're doing, you will win. But in your case, you are doing this to get your dad's attention."

"You!" He was clenching his fist in rage, but halting himself not to show off his identity to Althea. "Let's go! We have a game to deal with!" After saying that, he marched away with his minions.

My pack approached me and Axel handed me my stick. I glanced at Althea, who remained silent behind me, before moving away, "Why did you follow me here?"

"I saw you talking to those four young men and followed them like you were told. So, I did the same and wasn't expecting them to catch me."

"Didn't I tell you to stay away from my path? It doesn't mean we have a deal, you have the right to interfere with my business. You almost put me in trouble, Althea."

She furrowed, "I'm just worried, okay? I didn't intend to interfere with your problem, Randall. I witnessed how they took you, so I feel responsible if something—" I cut her out.

"Shut up! I only have five percent of the chance to play and if I lose that chance, I will forever blame you."

I walked away, leaving her. They followed me, and Zachary walked beside me. He seemed to have something to say.

"I told you to keep an eye on her, Zach. No one can know she's my mate. What if Felix finds out she is my mate, huh?" I scolded him.

"We are preparing for the game, Randall. I can't watch her and play at the same time. Besides, she wasn't supposed to be here."

I exhaled sharply before pausing and facing him, "None of our teammates must know she's my mate. This will be a huge controversy for our race since she's a human. Now, let's go. We have a game to finish and an enemy to vanquish."
