Chapter 10 - "The Wish System"

--------

--------

The room fell into silence.

Dan lay on the bed and let out a long sigh.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the leaves outside the window, hitting his face with a blinding brightness.

Everything that had happened lately felt like some kind of fantasy—it almost didn't feel real.

"System, where's Suzuka?"

[Wish Ticket remaining active duration: 6 days. Currently in a pseudo-Heroic Spirit Hall world, in a dormant state.]

"I see… I'll call her out at lunchtime so we can enjoy a meal together."

Then came the part he was looking forward to the most.

Dan asked with a bit of excitement in his mind.

"System, what kind of rewards am I getting from my quest?"

"If I went through all that trouble and you don't at least throw some gold at me, I'm gonna flip out!"

[Newbie Quest settling...]

[Congratulations! You've obtained EX-Class Authority: Absolute Contract.]

[Congratulations! You've obtained EX-Class Authority: Perfect Sync.]

[Congratulations! You've received 1 Unlimited Wish Ticket.]

[Congratulations! You've received 2 A-Class Wish Tickets.]

[After deducting pre-used Wish Points, you still earned 2,000 Wish Points. These can be used for gacha draws or copying abilities!]

[Congratulations! You've acquired the ability of one of the wishers—Lyra's Cunning Rat's Wisdom.]

"!!!"

"Hell yes!"

A flood of shining rewards nearly blinded him.

Dan rubbed his hands together and eagerly started checking the details of each reward.

[EX-Class Authority: Absolute Contract – You can create any kind of contract. As long as the other party willingly signs it, the contract will absolutely be enforced—regardless of their power level!]

Dan stroked his chin, eyes lighting up.

"This one's got a ton of potential. Sure, it has the limitation that the other party has to agree… but 'being manipulated into agreeing' still counts, doesn't it?"

"If I ever build a faction, this'll guarantee absolute loyalty from my people. This is a solid win!"

Even just this one ability already made him super satisfied.

Nodding to himself, Dan kept reading.

[EX-Class Authority: Perfect Sync – All your and your subordinates' abilities, skills, and items will have the same effect in any world. Negative effects will also be completely nullified!]

"Oh? That means I can use my powers regardless of how different the world's rules are. That's pretty damn OP."

Normally, in multiverse settings, powers are limited by the world's system. But this one overrides all that—turning unique traits into universal ones. Insanely powerful!

Then came the Unlimited Wish Ticket. This lets him make a wish without any level restriction toward any target. Theoretically, he could summon anyone across the multiverse—if they actually respond.

Dan thought aloud.

"So if I want to aim for a specific wish, I need to choose someone I can fulfill a request for—or someone who's just naturally helpful and kindhearted."

"But that second kind… yeah, I can't really think of many right now. Better save this one as a trump card."

Same for the A-Class Wish Tickets—he had no plans to use them yet.

Then Dan looked at the next explanation.

"System, explain how Wish Points work in detail."

[You earn Wish Points whenever you fulfill a wish.]

[You can spend points to trade for Wish Tickets or roll the lottery.]

[You can also manifest a character's skills, techniques, or traits into tags—and then spend points to copy, steal, or even delete them.]

[D: 100 pts | C: 200 pts | B: 400 pts | A: 800 pts | S: 1600 pts | EX: Depends]

[Note: The rating is relative to that character's original world.]

Dan rubbed his chin and glanced at his 2,000 Wish Points.

"So I can either copy an S-Class ability… or try my luck with a gacha draw?"

Since he wasn't sure yet, he moved on to the last reward.

The system lets him randomly acquire one skill from the person whose wish he fulfilled.

Technically, it was Lyra and her group who saved him, yet he was the one who ended up with the skill reward. It felt a little awkward.

[Cunning Rat's Wisdom – A perception ability developed by a small demi-human who crawled out of hell. Lets you keep calm and spot enemy weaknesses even in dire situations.]

"Huh… It's not a skill, magic, stat buff, or even a technique—but this kind of abstract trait can drop too?"

Dan's mind instantly expanded with possibilities.

"If that's the case, what about stat points? What about those vague innate talents from other worlds?!"

Names and abilities flashed through his mind at high speed. He was getting impatient.

"No rush. The system can't cross dimensions yet—let's just focus on the people here for now."

He quickly thought of several potential targets.

"If we're talking about the strongest I can technically reach now… it's gotta be Alfia. But with my current power level, there's no way I could even safely get near her, let alone fulfill her wish."

"Freya's familia members are strong too, but they're a bunch of lunatics."

"So the most realistic and efficient choices are probably Loki's familia and the current Astraea familia, huh…"

Astraea's familia had 11 members total. The strongest among them was their leader, Alise, who was only Level 3. As a whole, they didn't seem all that strong.

But Kaguya, from the Far East, could beat a Level 4 even though she was only Level 3. And Ryuu, though she hadn't yet gotten that future cheat skill, had already earned her famous alias "Gale."

If anyone was broken, it'd probably be Alise with that skill of hers—Red Bloom of Justice.

So the top priority now… was figuring out how to trigger their wishes.

As long as he was here, he wasn't gonna let the familia of Justice fall into decline.

Ryuu might never acquire the "Astraea Record" skill in this timeline, but maybe he could get a knockoff version through the wish system.

So should he just spend points to copy one of their skills directly?

Tempted for a second, Dan decided to hold off.

After all… he'd rather get stuff for free than pay!

Dan raised his hand.

"System! Let's do one S-Class Lottery draw!"

He was putting his faith in his luck!

[1,600 Wish Points deducted.]

A dazzling starry galaxy spun in his mind, slowly taking shape into a hazy humanoid figure.

[Ability Type: Physical Enhancement.]

"?!?"

Dan blinked in shock.

Wait, did he really just draw exactly what he needed?

He was literally just thinking how he needed a physical boost!

Not asking for much—he'd even settle for Big Mom's Iron Balloon body!

But just as he was getting excited, the figure began to dissolve from the bottom up, leaving only one thing visible.

[Targeted Area: Eyes.]

"...???!!"

Knock knock knock!

"Brother Dan! Lunchtime!" called out Iska, the energetic Amazon girl, from behind the door.

Dan took a deep breath and slowly removed his hand from his eyes.

Inside his crimson pupils, a three-bladed Mangekyō Sharingan flickered for a second… and then faded.

"…Yeah, coming."

"....."
