Chapter 3 - Bahama Island

In the morning, the sea mist slowly dispersed, and a gentle breeze picked up. Yohishi, who hadn't slept well all night, was woken up by Nami's shouts.

"Yohishi, hurry up and get out of bed, otherwise we'll be stuck in this sea area again."

Yohishi groggily opened his eyes and saw Nami already bustling about.

"Nami?"

Nami, who was preparing to set sail, saw Yohishi's half-asleep appearance and said impatiently, "Hurry up, otherwise we'll be drifting on the sea again today."

With that, she handed him a piece of hardtack, suitable for long-term storage at sea, and a water bottle.

Yohishi, who had slept against the ship's cabin all night, threw off the blanket that Nami had given him last night.

Yohishi took the hardtack and water, and Nami then instructed, "Eat quickly, you'll be rowing later. I've already wasted a day saving you, and we still have a lot to do today."

"Okay." The hardtack tasted pretty good. Yohishi nodded in response while munching on it.

After tidying up, the two set off in the small boat.

The East Blue, occupying nearly a quarter of the entire planet's surface, is incredibly vast, with various islands of all sizes. The places the Straw Hat Pirates visited were just a few islands.

By the time Yohishi and Nami saw the coastline, it was already noon.

This was a small island called Bahama Island. Although not large, this island was quite famous in the East Blue.

The island's location was quite special, being an island on the connecting line of many islands in the East Blue, serving as a transit island. Therefore, its commerce was very developed.

Prosperous commerce naturally attracted pirates, and with them came the Marine and bounty hunters.

The intricate web of interests also created a huge intelligence trading hub. As long as you could pay, you could buy most of the intelligence in the East Blue here.

Nami brought Yohishi here, of course, to gather intelligence and find the next target for hunting.

The streets of Bahama Island were bustling with people coming and going, and endless merchants and travelers.

Living in the 21st century, Yohishi had seen hundreds of meters tall skyscrapers and bustling commercial streets. The prosperity of Bahama Island was nothing to him, but the medieval style of prosperity still had a unique charm.

Carrying a large backpack, following Nami, the two arrived at a bustling commercial street. Nami casually led Yohishi into a bar!

The bar was a mixed bag of people. As soon as they entered, a group of fierce-looking pirates cast their gaze upon the two.

Nami was already used to it and acted very naturally, not caring about their stares. Yohishi, however, was a bit nervous.

Seeing his appearance, Nami whispered, "Be natural, don't show that look. Your nervousness will make them think you're easy to bully. The Marine is stationed here, so they won't cause trouble."

The pungent smell of alcohol in the air, along with various indescribable odors, plus a group of menacing pirates staring at them, made Yohishi, accustomed to a society of laws, truly feel no sense of security!

Since Nami had reminded him, Yohishi could only force himself to remain calm and responded with a "Hm!"

Seeing Yohishi's appearance, Nami also regretted bringing him, not expecting his courage to be so small.

If it weren't for the fact that he had amnesia and didn't know where to go, she wouldn't have brought him along.

"Relax!" Nami reminded Yohishi again, then walked towards the bar counter.

Yohishi also forcibly suppressed his unease and followed, pretending nothing was wrong.

The bar owner was a middle-aged, fat uncle with a bald spot on his head, a round face, and two small mustaches. He had a faint smile on his face and looked quite amiable.

Seeing the two approach, the owner asked, "Customers, what do you need?"

"First, two bowls of noodles for us, then two mugs of ale."

With that, Nami sat down on a chair in front of the bar counter.

"Okay! Please wait a moment!"

He put down the cup he had been wiping for who knows how long, then turned and went to the back kitchen to get busy.

More words, more mistakes. Yohishi, who understood nothing, sat down next to Nami, pretending to be nonchalant.

After the two sat down, the pirates' gazes no longer focused on them.

People were constantly coming and going in the bar. The reason they attracted the pirates' attention was simply because Nami was too attractive.

Why did the pirates only look and not come forward to harass them? Perhaps it was because Nami, such a high-quality catch, dared to appear in such a bar, proving she had enough backing.

Soon, the bar became noisy again, with various crude sounds and vulgar jokes from the pirates echoing throughout.

A scrawny pirate said to a strong pirate, "Boss, I heard the Buggy Pirate Crew attacked Orange Town. Should we go check it out?"

Hearing this, the pirate who was presumably the Captain cursed, "Idiot, Clown Buggy is a vicious pirate with a bounty of 15 million Berries. If you want to die, go by yourself, don't drag me down."

"Exactly, exactly!"

Since the boss had spoken, the surrounding subordinates also started to agree.

"Speaking of Clown Buggy, Butcher Bakar, who also has a bounty of 15 million Berries, just attacked Berkeley Town two days ago! I just saw the Butcher Pirate Crew resting on this island!"

When it came to gathering intelligence, unless it was some highly secret information, there was no need to deliberately inquire.

Just find a bar and have a drink, and the drunk pirates would talk about all the good deeds they had done and what had happened in the nearby sea as bar talk.

While waiting for food, Yohishi, who knew nothing about this sea area except for things related to the Straw Hat Pirates, gathered a lot of information.

The pirates just talked about Buggy attacking Orange Town, which meant Luffy had set sail these past few days. This also meant Nami would go steal Buggy's treasure these next few days. Various memories related to the Straw Hat Pirates flashed through his mind.

Yohishi looked at Nami beside him and saw that her eyes had already turned into money signs.

"Nami, you wouldn't…?" Seeing Nami's eyes, Yohishi asked with an ominous premonition.

Knowing how greedy Nami was for money, in just one day, he was almost sold to Nami. The Butcher Pirate Crew had just attacked a small town, wasn't this the best time to steal?

Clearly, Nami, whose eyes were full of Berries, couldn't hear his words at all.

...

In the early hours of the morning, the once bustling and noisy port grew quiet. Apart from drunkards and streetwalkers, there was hardly anyone left on the streets!

The crescent moon in the sky grew dimmer, and the night was pitch black. Under the cover of moonlight, a small boat quietly approached the dock in the dark.

Due to the Butcher Pirate Crew's notorious reputation, no ships dared to approach. Fortunately, with the cover of night, the small boat quietly approached the pirate ship.

Thump! Thump!!

Only one grappling hook successfully latched onto the ship's plank; the other fell back into his hand. Nami cast a look of disdain. Even in the darkness, Yohishi could feel that disdainful gaze, and he could only laugh awkwardly.

Soon, the two climbed onto the deck using the grappling hooks and ropes.
