Chapter 3 - Chapter~2

The Way I Met You

Gentle air wrapped around Rosy as she carried her belongings in a box.

Suddenly, a chaotic scene unfolded before her eyes: a group of teens chasing a guy with a camera.

They passed by Rosy, but among them, Jake, a tall guy in a grey hoodie, bumped into her, causing her to drop the box.

Seeing her things shattered on the floor as the box fell from her arms, she yelled.

"Hey! Watch yourself, Mr. Taller."

"Oops, sorry! Miss Shorty," he blurted out before spinning back to glance at Rosy.

"What did you just say?" Rosy demanded, her voice sharp.

But he flashed a charming smile, his eyes sparkling with amusement as he gazed at her - his whole demeanor had a playful charm, like a golden retriever vibe. With a spring in his step, he turned and sprinted after his friends.

When they collided, a vintage compass chain slipped from Rosy's box and shattered on the ground. The chain held sentimental value, gifted by her late mom, and its breakage cut deep.

Rosy's eyes brimmed with disappointment as she gazed at the fragments. Her anger flared towards the hoodie guy, but he was already gone.

"What a loser," Rosy muttered, her voice barely audible.

It was hate at first sight.

She picked up the broken chain, cradling it in her palm.

Rosy whispered an apology: "Sorry mom, it's broken. This chain is the only one I have as a memory of yours, the only tangible piece of you that I have left."

A single tear rolled down her cheek as she gently tucked the pieces into her pocket, reclaimed the heavy box back into her arms, and turned to head inside.
