Chapter 257: The Plan to Permanently Eliminate the Threat of Du Wa
Bringing that most insane, most unstoppable Doomsday to the Main Universe was an extremely complex technical feat.
Even a god, provided they knew of this particular Doomsday, would steer clear of it. They would be absolutely unwilling to have any form of interaction with this thing, lest they be targeted by Doomsday and ultimately dragged into the domain it excelled at, where the longer they fought, the more painful it became. They would be forced to watch as Doomsday grew stronger and stronger, until even escape became an extremely difficult matter.
Infinite evolution. If it suffers an injury once, it will forever be immune to that method of attack. This is the true meaning of Doomsday.
Search the entire multiverse, and there is only one! All other versions of Doomsday are, in the final analysis, nothing more than shoddy replicas with limited potential. Their seemingly terrifying ability for evolution could, at most, bully the Superman of their respective universe. While their level might be considered substantial within a single universe, when placed on a multiversal standing, they are utterly worthless.
But the Doomsday currently charging into the Main Universe was different. It was a chaotic and disorderly monster, its most basic thoughts a complete mess. Yet on the battlefield, it possessed an infinite potential that even a deity would envy.
When the Hellbat raised its head and detected Doomsday's arrival using the last remaining abilities of his Hell Armor, his face was grim, and for a moment, he said nothing.
What could he say? That he knew full well there was a conspiracy, yet still had no choice but to cooperate with Darkseid and the other Batmen? That he knew defeat was now certain, and this monster's arrival was, paradoxically, saving him?
A strong sense of shame rose in Batman's heart. Now that he saw the goal of the conspiracy, he realized his series of actions had, in fact, helped bring this absurdly powerful Doomsday here.
"Don't place yourself on such a high pedestal. Someone like you should constantly be lowering your moral standards. Otherwise, how can you contend with vicious and evil gods?"
Ghost, on the contrary, breathed a sigh of relief. Possessing Batman's body, it keenly sensed the change in Batman's mentality and offered comfort.
The New 52 Batman was still too young, had experienced too little. Although he had talent, he still fell a little short compared to the Main Universe Batman.
At a critical moment, that little bit was an insurmountable chasm.
*Crack! Crack! Crack!*
Doomsday had arrived. Facing the barrier of the Main Universe, it simply rammed into it, easily shattering all obstacles.
This was a monster whose entire body was covered in terrifying spikes. Dense bone spurs pierced through muscle and skin, faintly surging with a sharpness more terrifying than a divine weapon.
A thick, keratinous layer covered this thing's skin, making its uneven form even more ferocious and terrifying, as if it were a malformed creature that had crawled out of a biochemical furnace.
What was truly, instinctively terrifying was precisely the creature's attitude of absolute indifference, as if no deity, no matter who they were, could shake this monster in the slightest.
"So this is what it looks like. It's much uglier than the Doomsdays I've created and come into contact with, but it's also much more powerful," Lex Luthor, the God of Knowledge, said, sitting in his chair and looking at this most unique Doomsday in astonishment.
Alexander Luthor sneered, "Just you watch. No matter how many tricks you've hidden from me, no matter what ridiculous ploys you've prepared to deal with Du Wa, none of them can possibly compare to this thing! This creature is the natural nemesis that can lord over all gods!"
"Are you sure you won't be targeted and killed by it for appraising Doomsday like that?"
"You are still too limited in your perspective, always applying the strength of those inferior Doomsdays to this one. In reality, they are completely incomparable," Alexander Luthor said. "This one is a truly perfect deity. It won't be attracted by things that have no value for its evolution. Even if it heard me, it wouldn't take me seriously, let alone come out of its way to kill me."
The two Luthors looked at each other, both revealing cold smiles.
Lex Luthor tapped his chair with his index finger. "Although I also participated in this plan, that doesn't mean I believe it will succeed. I have a better method, countless times better than your Doomsday."
"Even if I were to guide that thing to attack you right now?"
"That would only change my state of being; it wouldn't change the reality that you're a fanciful fool. Your very ascension to God of Knowledge was only because I gave the position to you, pushing you out to draw fire and using you to harness the computing power of the Mobius Chair," Alexander Luthor sneered.
The Lex Luthor of the DCEU was originally not on the same level of intelligence as Alexander Luthor, but that changed after he acquired the chair. While his pure intelligence was debatable, his ability in information gathering and logical computation completely crushed Alexander Luthor's.
"You should have already discovered that the Mobius Chair contains a trap. The damn thing will, in turn, control its user, making them a slave to knowledge. I have no desire to become the next Metron, so I had no choice but to push out a somewhat clever but ultimately useless thing like you. Now, your value has been realized. You've helped me solve quite a few difficult problems," Alexander Luthor said without turning his head, his attention focused entirely on Doomsday as it moved rapidly through the universe.
Lex Luthor's gaze, however, was profound.
Countless eyes were now fixed on this Doomsday. Those beings who recognized its origin, even deities, turned pale with fear. Seeing Doomsday actually wreaking havoc in the Main Universe nearly scared them to death.
"Doomsday? This aura, pure chaos, purer than a deity... It's *that* Doomsday, isn't it??"
"There's no mistake. But why would this cursed thing enter the Main Universe?! It could go and destroy any other universe, why the Main Universe?!"
"So that's how it is. Du Wa definitely can't win against this monster. He's probably going to suffer a huge loss this time, and his fate might be quite miserable. But then again, if even Du Wa can't stop this monster, won't the Main Universe be completely destroyed?"
Du Wa, of course, also focused his attention on Doomsday.
He, too, had once possessed Doomsdays. In the DCEU, he had enslaved two of them at once, but he quickly lost interest and allowed them to die in battle, with no intention of ever resurrecting them.
What would be the point of their resurrection? To have two more tools with limited potential and barely any logical thought to speak of? He had no shortage of such worthless tools. Watching them perish was just that, and nothing more.
But now, not counting The Devastator who appeared during the fight over Quantum Batman, this primordial Doomsday would be the third one Du Wa had directly faced.
It was also the most powerful one he had ever encountered.
"None of my computations can analyze this thing's state. What's going on? Is this the weapon that Darkseid, or the other Batmen, were hoping for?" The New 52 Batman was genuinely shocked. He felt this monster was fundamentally a sum total of chaotic disorder, yet it was terrifyingly quiet, rushing over without a sound, appearing incredibly 'rational.'
The next second, Thanoseid suddenly threw a punch, blasting the New 52 Batman to pieces, causing him and his tattered Hell Armor to explode together.
"Since the main event has arrived, you, a transitional item, are blocking the view... Don't think that just because Ghost is protecting you, I can't really kill you. Scram. Get away from here," Thanoseid said coldly, looking at the New 52 Batman, who was enveloped by Ghost and kept alive by a thread.
"Du Wa hasn't said how to deal with him. What you're doing is not good. He is, after all, the second most important Batman," Quantum Batman said indifferently, further contracting the quantum wall he had created, continuing to imprison Ghost and New 52 Batman in a specific region.
Ghost could escape. As long as it abandoned Batman's body, it could even pass through the Source Wall, let alone the quantum wall created by Quantum Batman. But if it didn't abandon the New 52 Batman, Ghost, now possessing a physical entity, couldn't even escape and could only be trapped.
Under these circumstances, Doomsday drew near. Although it had remained silent from beginning to end, the oppressive atmosphere was like that of a massive black hole crashing towards them, brewing omens of destruction that would tear everything apart.
*Snap!*
With a light touch, countless quantum particles began to bombard Doomsday, causing its body to suffer heavy damage in an instant. But upon closer inspection, Doomsday's injuries healed instantly, and it gained immunity to quantum attacks.
All of this happened in an extremely short period of time. Doomsday had become even more perfect. With a light touch, it could break through the quantum wall.
"This... is simply unbelievable. Is this really an ability that a life form can possess? How is this even weirder than a Xenomorph!!"
Everyone who witnessed this scene was completely dumbfounded, as if they had just seen a phenomenon that absolutely violated common sense.
Quantum Batman felt it most deeply. At this moment, sensing that a large number of his attack methods had become instantly ineffective against Doomsday, he fell silent for a moment before saying to Du Wa, "I have never seen such a monster. It's clearly not a deity, more like a super-sized Superman, yet it possesses a body of flesh and blood with absolute self-healing and infinite evolution, standing at a level that even deities cannot reach..."
"Stop your analysis. I know what you want to ask. To be honest, I can't use parasitism on this thing. Because the moment I make a move, it will immediately evolve an immunity to parasitism, rendering one of my most important methods useless from then on," Du Wa said with a wave of his hand, looking at this original Doomsday with great interest.
He was genuinely interested, but not overly surprised, because he had long known what level this thing could reach.
Kryptonians were a race with both extremely prominent racial advantages and genetic defects. The ancient Kryptonians naturally knew they were powerful yet fragile. Therefore, a Kryptonian would eventually step forward to try and find a way to improve their genes.
A Kryptonian scientist named Portland selected a piece of ancient Kryptonian gene for his experiment. Using it as a template, he created a Kryptonian infant, and then used various methods to torture and kill this infant.
Over and over again, in a repeating cycle, the infant's genes were stimulated. Through billions of rebirths and deaths, mutations were bound to occur. When the number of mutations reached an astonishing figure, it would inevitably produce a change that not even the scientist could have foreseen:
The infant overcame death. No matter what kind of harm it suffered, it could always find a countermeasure from within its own genes, which had died and evolved for countless generations, allowing itself to become immortal.
This infant eventually became the first Doomsday, destroyed ancient Krypton, and now roams the multiverse with its ability of infinite evolution.
This was a monster that had evolved to be immune to death.
Some might think that Du Wa's methods were perfectly suited to solve the problem of Doomsday, to control this Doomsday through parasitism. But Du Wa knew very well that he only had one opportunity. If he failed, he would never get another chance. Doomsday would become immune to all Xenomorph parasitism, and the world would have one more monster that even Du Wa would have difficulty dealing with.
Seeing Du Wa hesitate to act, while the immensely powerful Quantum Batman lingered in the distance, not stepping forward to block Doomsday, the ones who had orchestrated all of this were ecstatic.
"It's a pity Darkseid is dead, or he too would have had the chance to see the end of Du Wa's era! The society of the Xenomorphs will begin to collapse at this moment!!"
"The Main Universe Darkseid is dead. His divine authority and position have been transformed into Thanoseid, but there are still many other Darkseids in other worlds! They are all watching, and they have every opportunity to kill Thanoseid and reclaim everything they once possessed. When that time comes, Darkseid will still be Darkseid. Essentially, nothing will have changed."
"Look, the Main Universe will definitely return to its former order. Du Wa and his Xenomorphs had better flee to the Sphere of Gods if they don't want to die!"
Alexander Luthor finally broke into laughter, no longer hiding it. "In the end, I am the one who wins! I found a monster that can fight Du Wa on all fronts. Just one such monster is enough. This proves that Du Wa is by no means invincible. There has never been a perfectly absolute individual in this world, not even Du Wa, not even a god!!"
"Luthor, you're celebrating too early," Du Wa said. "But no matter. I am very satisfied that you were willing to take such a risk to do this, because it means my subordinates will still include brave and not brainless intelligent people like you. But unfortunately, your intelligence is limited."
Du Wa shook his head, watching the silent Doomsday charge over, easily blasting countless Xenomorphs along the way.
The more it fought, the stronger Doomsday would become, the more complete its abilities would be, and the more unsolvable it would become. It was a vicious cycle.
But Du Wa had a way to break the cycle. If he couldn't succeed with parasitism, then he would simply stop considering success from the very beginning.
"I am a Concept God who exists by relying on a specific group of life forms, a fact for which I've been grumbled about by quite a few fellows. But to a certain extent, Doomsday is also a 'Concept God' limited to the aspect of evolution," Du Wa said with a slight smile.
It was time to put an end to Doomsday and make these guys give up hope. After this, he would crush those in the multiverse who had jumped too high and clear out the pressure.
"Infinite evolution, able to instantly become immune to my parasitism... In that case, the countermeasure can be equally simple and crude. All I need to do is use parasitism while Doomsday is evolving itself. This will allow the Xenomorph larva to acquire the same damage immunity Doomsday gains. By the time Doomsday evolves immunity to the parasitism itself..." Du Wa mused.
At the same time, Lex Luthor, the God of Knowledge, also made his move. He ran his hands through his long hair, hesitated for a moment, but still brought out his third plan.
The final plan, purported to be able to permanently eliminate the threat of Du Wa.
