Seraphina woke at 3 AM to Luna's crying and knew—before she even opened her eyes—that her daughter wasn't hungry or wet or uncomfortable. Luna was afraid.
Not the normal infant fear of darkness or being alone. This was deeper. Cosmic. Luna had sensed something watching them, something that didn't belong in their reality.
And Seraphina felt it too.
She sat up fast, her heart already racing with Luna's fear. Through their mate bond, she felt Damon stirring beside her, his Reality Anchor senses flaring. But this was different from the bond they shared. This was something else entirely.
"Mama—" Luna's mental voice was small and frightened. "Something's wrong with the walls."
Seraphina rushed to the nursery. Luna was standing in her crib—when had she learned to stand?—small hands gripping the rails, eyes wide and reflecting silver light. But what caught Seraphina's attention was the nursery wall.
It was breathing.
