Chapter 168 - Chapter 168: Trial Play: God-Tier! The King of Terror!

"Holy crap—"

The trial ended, but Lucas "Luke" Sterling's skin crawled.

The ending lingered, sparking wild theories. That motorcycle man with the letter? Clearly the main game's protagonist. Sam Harper's cinematic genius screamed it: the yellow "Silent Hill - Exit Here" sign glowed as Luke drove out, but glancing back, the "Silent Hill - Enter Here" sign marked the man's path. Two seekers of truth, crossing in time and space. As the man vanished into the fog, he'd entered a parallel world.

Who was he? Why Silent Hill? What truth did he chase? What horrors awaited? Answers would come with the full release.

This trial felt complete, but Sam's ambition soared higher. That email easter egg—a whistleblower hinting at a massive conspiracy—proved Miles Upshur's story wasn't done. Sam was crafting a horror universe, with Miles as the key.

Freakin' brutal! Trailer plus easter eggs—mind-blowing!

Luke scribbled furiously: Sam Harper's design, especially his psychological horror, is light-years ahead. His grasp of human nature, player psychology, atmosphere, and pacing is flawless—perfection! He distills fear, planting it in every player's heart. Silent Hill P.T. is great. Though a trial, it's a milestone in horror game history. I can't wait for the full release!

The next day, Zoey Parker sat in her WindyPeak office, scrolling through X's flood of comments. P.T. was a wildfire, outshining its Tokyo International Game Festival debut. It crushed Yakuza's buzz. Unlike Yakuza's safe blend of shooting and racing, P.T.'s innovation ruled.

Comments praised its psychological horror:

"Sam gets it—fear's from the unknown. That lights-out kill? Unforgettable." —Twitch streamer Leo Parker

"P.T.'s environment and suggestive plot plant terror deep." —Apex Entertainment

"Silent Hill: Part 1 will be a historic benchmark for psychological horror." —GameScope

Others dissected its subtext:

Lisa's red high heel and missing right eye hint at lust and liberation. The Bible says, "If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out." One heel shows she broke free. The manager's harassment might've happened, but Lisa stayed loyal.

Tests show saying "truth," "sorry," or "sympathy" unlocks the exit.

Players buzzed about the ending:

"That biker's the main game's hero!"

"Sam hid an easter egg for Miles!"

"Best horror game ever. Period."

"Miles' story's gonna be epic."

"Boldest trailer I've seen!"

Media fueled the hype:

"Horror masterpiece! P.T. earns raves!" —Tate's Gaming Scoop

"P.T.'s first-day clearance rate under 1%! How scary is it?"

"P.T. buries Yakuza, tops discussion!"

"Over 90% of Twitch streamers call P.T. the scariest ever!"

P.T.'s KMN-3 login rate hit 38%, dwarfing Yakuza's 14.21%. Komina expected Yakuza at 10%, but P.T., meant as a side project, became the festival's dark horse, humbling Yakuza.

"Outrageous!" Zoey muttered, stunned by the data.

A knock. "Come in!" Sam Harper strolled in.

"You're here!" Zoey waved him over. "I've got questions, Mr. Terror King!"

Sam, planning to discuss something else, chuckled and sat. "Ask away, boss."

Zoey scratched her head. "P.T.'s a horror game, right? Niche?"

Sam nodded. "Yup."

"And Yakuza's shooting-racing mix is mainstream, solid quality?"

"Correct," Sam shrugged.

"Then how's a niche trial, not even a full game, doubling Yakuza's login rate and crowning you 'King of Terror'? Did you bribe Tetsuya Moriya?"

Sam flinched. "What kinda talk is that?"

Zoey stuck out her tongue. "Just a figure of speech!"

Sam sighed. "P.T.'s buzz surprised me, but it makes sense. Its plot and scares are unique. Not the first psychological horror, but the peak."

Zoey squinted, skeptical. Sam grinned. "Doubt me? Try the KMN-3 in the lounge. Takes half an hour to clear—five minutes tops for you."

Zoey bristled. "I've watched horror flicks alone! Grave Robbers, Ouija—no sweat!"

Sam smirked. "Five minutes, max."

"Two minutes?" Zoey fumed. "Bet a month of cleaning and laundry!"

"Deal," Sam said. "You'll be washing my socks."

Zoey stormed to the Tech Tower lounge, diving into the KMN-3 pod with bravado.

Sam grabbed potato chips from a claw machine. Before he could open them, Zoey's wails echoed as the pod reopened. "I'm done! Waaaah!"

Sam strolled over, munching. "Not five minutes yet."

"No more!" Zoey sobbed. "You win, Terror King. I'll wash your socks!"

"What's scary about it?" Sam teased, pretending to lock the pod.

Zoey howled louder. "It's awful! Gimme a chip, please!"
