Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: Catch Ya Later, Champ

The words hit, and chat exploded!

"No way! It's him!"

"I know this dude! Seen his highlight reels!"

"The guy who yeeted a grenade at his feet to rocket-jump, right?"

"And he was still sprinting like a maniac after!"

"For real?"

'Yup, he flexed it at the start of his montage!'

"Pure chaos energy."

"Pain fuels his adrenaline, huh? Tracks."

"Back then, he was a Titanfall beast. Now he's Speed King owning APEX!"

'This guy's unhinged!'

"Yo, Piggie, spectate him. Let's see the magic…"

In APEX, downed players can peek through their killer's first-person view.

UI, moves, everything—crystal clear.

Chat begged, and Ethan "Piggie" Vance nodded: "Alright, this guy's nuts. Let's watch."

"Finals are close anyway. Let's see him cook."

Piggie pinged Daisy "Dizzy" Lane and Marcus "MadDog" Reed, calling a ten-minute break.

He flipped his death screen to Octane's POV.

And then—Piggie yelped: "Holy—! No way!"

"Twenty-six kills?!"

"Man, I'm ready to fight him with a pineapple and a pool noodle!"

Octane's POV showed his kill count blazing in the top-right corner: 26!

On the valley's big screen, Octane's portrait loomed, with Kill Leader in bold gold letters!

"Whoa…" Chat lost it!

'26 kills, pure solo!'

"No way! That's half the lobby!"

"60 players, and he's dropping half?"

"Even pros would call that cracked."

'Hahaha…'

"Is Octane just busted?"

"Broken as hell. One needle, fifth gear, plus a jump pad? Mobility's insane."

"His aim's unreal. Two-tapped Piggie mid-air with a Wingman. Most can't pull that."

'Facts…'

Octane jabbed another adrenaline shot, green trails streaming behind as Speed King bolted to the final circle, rocking a goofy sprint.

Slide—CRASH!

He slammed into a boulder, stopping cold.

Checking his UI, five teams remained, but the player count was a question mark.

Octane knew that meant single-digit survivors—nine players, five teams.

Excluding himself, eight players, four teams.

At least two squads were shorthanded.

Find the right moment, and he could snag Champion.

Octane whipped out a Kraber sniper rifle looted from Piggie's squad, popped the 4x scope, and peeked from behind the rock, scanning the battlefield.

Weird vibe.

Since the circle started shrinking, Kings Canyon's gunfire went silent.

Like a storm pausing or a wind dying.

The quiet felt wrong.

Chat held its breath.

Everyone knew this calm was just the eye of a bigger storm.

Final-circle players? They've got skills.

Crisp aim, tight tactics, or sneaky plays to survive APEX's breakneck pace.

Five teams, nine players, like a blindfolded knife fight.

Waiting for a sound, then striking.

Top-left corner, the fourth circle's countdown ticked down.

3… 2… 1…

Fifth circle spawned—in the residential zone downhill!

BANG!

A shot shattered the silence from the eastern hill!

A knockdown popped on everyone's UI!

Then—chaos!

Gunfire erupted across Kings Canyon!

The east squad charged, Bangalore's smoke bomb blinding the residential zone. A Pathfinder zipline shot out, linking straight to the houses!

But!

A southeast squad ambushed!

Bloodhound's scan lit up the smoke squad, a gravelly voice booming: "Odin grants me sight!"

Red-glowing Bloodhound led their team into the haze!

BRRRT!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Gunfire popped like firecrackers, the teams clashing in the smoky chaos!

But mid-fight—

A signal flare arced, glowing red, landing in the smoke.

BOOM!

Thunder roared!

Gibraltar's ultimate rained meteors, a net of explosions trapping both squads!

The tiny safe zone turned into a killbox!

Smoke rolled, bullets flew!

Legends unleashed their tricks!

Wraith phased through the void, ghosting across the battlefield, slipping through portals with an R-99, popping in and out like a phantom!

Mirage's decoys faked enemies out, clones everywhere. His ultimate spawned a decoy swarm, EVA-8 shotgun blasting chaos!

Caustic laid traps, toxic fog choking the air. His Nox Gas Grenade flew, paired with a Spitfire, rampaging through the poison!

Pure mayhem, heart-pounding!

Bangalore's missiles deafened!

Lifeline's shield healed with heart!

Valkyrie soared, diving from the sky!

And that green blur?

"WOOOO—HOOOO!" Octane screamed!

Adrenaline surged, energy doubled!

Prosthetic legs hit a jump pad, launching him in arcs like a skipping stone, storming the battlefield!

BOOM! CRACK!

Peacekeeper's close-range blast was brutal!

Two shots, Lifeline healing her squad—now a death box!

BRRRT!

Bullets rained from behind, shredding Octane's red armor!

No panic. He looted Lifeline's box, swapped armor in a blink, and spun, spraying back!

BOOM!

Bloodhound, trying to flank, ate a shotgun blast—down!

Octane didn't stick around!

Bloodhound's Pathfinder teammate closed in, so he slid, jumped, and sprinted downhill!

Pathfinder wasn't letting go!

Click! A grapple hooked the ground, yanking Pathfinder after Octane!

BRRRT!

VK-47 Flatline roared, blowing Octane's new armor!

Octane returned fire, shattering Pathfinder's!

A chase like a hound on a hare!

But—

Pathfinder reloaded, ready to finish Octane!

Octane slid, jumped, kicked off a building wall, and flipped behind Pathfinder!

Wall jump!

Easy in an X2 cabin, but the creativity?

Pathfinder was stunned!

He didn't expect Octane, cornered, to pull that and flip the fight!

Switch-up!

"What the—?!"

BANG!

Before Pathfinder could react, Octane's shotgun roared!

Kill count: 29!

Two survivors left!

Octane looted Pathfinder's box, swapping armor.

Then—

WHOOSH!

Rocket boosters screamed!

A silver-haired woman with a jetpack soared like an eagle!

Their eyes locked!

Octane felt a déjà vu.

Back on Typhon in Titanfall, he'd seen this vibe—a godlike figure staring down.

That was Viper, the deadliest Titan.

And now?

The woman shoved her joystick!

BRRRRT!

Missiles rained from her jetpack, hammering Octane!

He threw a jump pad behind, stomped it, and launched forward!

Time slowed.

Chat's jaws dropped.

Missiles exploded under Octane, flames licking up.

He yanked the Kraber's bolt!

Click—click!

The last airdrop bullet chambered.

Mid-air, Octane spun, raising the sniper:

"Catch ya later, champ…"

SNAP!

BANG!

The shot shook Kings Canyon!

The bullet, trailing a sonic boom, drilled through the woman's forehead, exiting clean!

Her death box crashed down with a thud.

BOOM!

Fireworks lit up Kings Canyon!

Octane's HUD—and every viewer's screen—flashed:

You are the Champion.

Chat erupted!

'OHHHH!'

"Insane shot!"

'One needle, and the queen's down!'

"That flank was chef's kiss! Damn!"

"Speed King's in the house!"

'30 kills for the dub! Nuts!'

"Gotta be juiced on adrenaline IRL!"

'Drug test! Drug test!'

'Test came back—zero piss, all stim!'

'Hahaha, brutal!'

'Yo! Yo! Big news! Guess what!'

Mid-hype, a premium chat popped:

"Found Octane's stream! Twitch, global channel! Search APEX-Octane!"

Buzz!

Chat went wild!

The world's got no internet walls—Piggie hopped on Twitch, the "rat platform," in seconds.

No search needed!

Under APEX's category, APEX-Octane topped the charts!

Speed Freak? Nah, Speed King!

Foreign fans in Octane's stream were losing it:

'Unreal!'

'God-tier shot!'

'That's straight-up impossible!'

'God guided his aim!'

'Legendary play!'

'30-kill Champion? That's an APEX record!'

"Join the league, bro!"

'…'

Players worldwide were floored!

Piggie, big-hearted, hyped the dude up and dropped a $2,000 tip!

Octane, still in his IndieVibe X2 cabin, was nearly crying: "Oh man, oh man—"

"Can't believe I pulled it off…"

"Thanks for the tips, y'all, thank you!"

"First time streaming, uh…"

"Thanks for watching, seriously…"

Newbie streamer Octane was hyped but nervous, voice shaking: "Didn't think I'd hit this challenge, but my opponents were beasts too."

"Yup, I'm the Titanfall parkour trial record holder."

"Today, I just… took a shot at streaming."

"APEX's too damn good, man."

"And, uh…"

He paused, hesitant: "Real talk, I wasn't ready to face y'all yet."

"Made a bet with myself before streaming."

"30 kills and Champion? I'd open the X2 cabin and show my face."

"And I did it."

"So… here goes…"

"Don't freak out, okay?"

"I'm…"

Hiss!

The Titanfall-themed IndieVibe X2 hatch opened.

Under countless curious eyes—

Octane, Titanfall parkour champ and APEX's first 30-kill Champion, stepped out.

"Catch ya later, champ" nods to a classic Overwatch voice line, a tribute to my old gaming crew. The squad's gone, but the vibes live on. Here's to you, champs.
