Chapter 131 - Chapter 131: [Protocol Three: Protecting the Pilot]

WHOOSH—BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

BT's shoulder cannon roared to life!

Missiles streaked toward Sloan, slamming her back!

"You jerk!"

Sloan's scream crackled over the radio:

"You'll pay for this!"

Enemies face-to-face, rage boiling over!

The fight erupted!

Two Titans clashed in the launch bay!

Barrages lit up the arena, flames swallowing everything!

Smoke choked the air, sparks flew like fireworks!

Titan vs. Titan—heavy metal slamming, firepower blasting firepower!

Players held nothing back, unleashing pent-up fury, drowning Sloan in a storm of fire!

The "Scorch Titan" dropped gas canisters, ignited them—walls of flame erupted!

The "Northstar Titan's" three-barrel cannons locked, rockets raining like arrows!

The "Ion Titan's" laser charged, blasting paths with solar flares and prisms!

The "Ronin Titan's" dual blades danced like a dragon, slicing through the void, sweeping armies!

The "Monarch Titan" leaped and spun mid-air, graceful as a hawk, unloading full salvos!

And finally!

Daisy Lane's "Legion" joined the fray.

Its rotary minigun spun up, auto-tracking with a thunderous roar, scorching the earth!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Players' rage poured like a downpour on Sloan.

"Aaaah!"

Screams mixed with massive blasts!

Sloan was wrecked, terror etched on her face!

No armor left, she looked nothing like the killer who'd gutted BT!

"You scum—"

Daisy's face twisted in fury!

Eyes locked, murder in her glare!

"I told you—pray I don't catch you! Damn it!!!"

As she spat the words!

BT's voice boomed worldwide—

BT: Flame Core ready!

BT: Rocket Core ready!

BT: Laser Core ready!

BT: Flight Core ready!

BT: Sword Core ready!!

Daisy's eyes blazed red, stepping forward!

BOOM!

"Smart Core—"

"Ready!!!"

VRRRR—

BOOM!

Six Titans! Six Cores!

Players worldwide synced up!

Flames roared, rockets screamed, lasers pierced, flights soared, swords cleaved.

All converged on one point!

RUMBLE—BOOM!

Sloan's Titan shattered, sparks and debris flying!

In the inferno, Sloan—burning alive—lost her swagger, screaming as she slapped at the flames.

But BT lunged forward!

Like a tiger pouncing, a dragon striking!

Its massive rotary minigun stabbed into the red Titan's cockpit, hoisting it high!

The terrifying barrel spun up!

BRRRRT—HUM—BRRRRT!

Explosive rounds reduced the Titan to slag, unrecognizable!

Sloan? Vaporized—no trace left!

"Die—!!!"

Daisy screamed, venting her fury!

One hundred fifty rounds!

Emptied!

Only then did Daisy exhale, relieved.

"Hell yeah—!"

But then.

A violent quake hit, Sarah's voice cutting in:

"Kubo! The fold weapon's charging! Grab the Ark—now!!!"

"Copy!"

Daisy rolled over Sloan's wreckage!

Then sprinted to the Ark launcher!

This was the endgame!

The launcher was primed like a cannon, the Holy Ark loaded!

"BT! Yank the Ark out!"

Daisy piloted BT to the launch port's base, gripping the bay doors with both hands, prying them open!

Right then!

ZAP—BOOM!

A deafening blast!

Daisy's vision went black!

The shockwave hurled her and BT airborne!

CRASH!

She slammed down, sight blurring!!!

"Kubo! BT! You got it…? What's happening…?"

"Kubo! Respond… please!"

"…Respond!!!"

Sarah's voice crackled, fading.

BT's quad-screen HUD glitched—distorted static!

Electronic chaos buzzed in Daisy's ears—

BT: Kubo… launcher surge… overloaded my… main systems… internals.

BT: Restoring visuals… rebooting… visuals…

BT: Visuals restored…

As the screens flickered back.

Daisy saw glitches lingering—ghosting, color shifts.

But it worked.

BT's core systems? Not so lucky.

Data overload fried its processor, leaving it glitching.

BT: Analysis… results indicate… throwing's the only option…

BT: Alert! Enemy Titan inbound…

Before it finished!

Heavy footsteps thundered!

Daisy's heart sank at the sight.

Sam Harper.

And his hulking Legion Titan!

This guy wouldn't quit!

THUD!

Sam hopped down, crouching before BT's optics.

He stared at Daisy through the HUD for seconds, then smirked, voice full of respect:

"You got lucky today, hero. I don't do freebies."

Sam fished out a card from his pocket.

A red banner on it, topped with metallic letters—APEX.

Below, a spray-painted white skull with ram horns.

And a faded 16-digit code.

"Hit me up sometime. You earned this. Good luck."

Pat pat!

Sam slapped BT's shield and walked off.

"Phew—"

Daisy watched him go, relieved.

She eyed the card, but a gust whisked it away.

BT's voice looped, garbled: "Throwing's the only way"

"BT, you okay?"

In the cockpit, Daisy tapped the console.

Garbled code flashed.

BT forced a full reboot—

BT: Emergency reboot initiated…

BT: Rerouting backup power…

BT: Aux systems online.

BT: Neural link detected…

BT: Kubo, get me to the launch bay… autopilot's down… down…

BT: To secure the Ark… secure the Ark… we sync up.

"Got it!"

Daisy replied, focused.

No autopilot—Daisy poured her focus into manual control, guiding BT upright.

"Kubo!"

Sarah's voice returned:

"External strikes won't touch the Ark. Destroy it from inside. We're en route!"

Before Daisy could respond.

BT cut in—

Commander Sarah, I've got a plan.

Expose my reactor core… destabilize the Ark.

Zzzzt—

"What? BT?"

Sarah misheard.

We can… I can… blow it.

BT: Transmitting rendezvous coords…

Blow it?

Tragic orchestra swelled.

Daisy froze, then chuckled.

"BT, you joking now?"

Blow it—self-destruct, take the Ark with them.

Daisy felt a haze.

No fear.

She'd grown into a hero, ready for sacrifice.

Sarah pressed on the radio:

"Detonate the Ark? What about you?"

Silence, then BT:

I ran the numbers. Trust me.

Daisy smiled faintly.

"Gotta say, that's a solid joke. Calculating how we get blown to bits?"

The bay doors closed, sealing her and BT with the Ark.

Daisy breathed deep.

No fear in death.

Her old vow echoed—As a Pilot, I'll live up to the name.

Now.

She was worthy.

Tears welled—joy, sorrow, fear, thrill, all mixed.

One week? Nothing in life's span.

But Titanfall gave her an epic hero's journey.

Heroes fall.

But traveling with BT—her battle buddy—made it worth it.

Comforting.

Beep-beep-beep-hum-

Charge indicators lit one by one.

Daisy's breath quickened.

The Ark glowed blue at the port.

The familiar protocols appeared—

Vanguard-Class Titan: BT-7274

Primary Protocols

Daisy joined BT's voice.

Protocol One: Link to Pilot

Protocol Two: Uphold the Mission

Charge hum intensified, emotions surging.

Tears streamed, but her voice soothed BT.

You protected me before.

Now, my turn.

"Don't worry, BT. I'm right here. Trust me…"

BT: Copy that, Kubo.

Steady, strong, reassuring as always.

BUZZZZ!

Charge maxed!

But Protocol Three didn't show.

No time—

BOOM!

Launcher fired!

Daisy felt the shove, launched with BT toward the Ark!!!

In blinding light!

Orange text flashed.

BT's voice synced—

Protocol Three: Protect the Pilot

Hiss—

Cockpit popped!

In the glare, BT's hand grabbed Daisy!

She realized, clawing at the console!

"What are you—"

"What the hell!!!"

But human strength vs. Titan? No contest.

Daisy landed in BT's palm.

She reached for BT.

BT turned, optics on her.

Snap!

Like always.

Countless times.

Thumbs-up, wink.

Fist clenched, firm gesture!!!

BT: Trust me.

Next second!

WHOOSH!

Daisy hurled from the reactor.

BT plummeted toward the Ark!

BT: I'm BT-7274, Vanguard-Class. Call me BT…

First meeting.

Good to see you, Pilot…

Water plant reunion.

BT: Pilot, no more shortcuts…

Complaint after separation.

BT: I got you…

Signal tower save.

BT: Negative. Cooper's my Pilot…

Defying the commander.

BT: Protocol Three: I won't lose another Pilot…

Draco sacrifice.

Hey, Jack.

Warm return.

Why…

We just reunited?

Memories flashed!

Canyons, water plants, time warps, towers, speeding Draco.

Every throw, BT's fist: Trust me.

Now!

Daisy understood.

BT didn't mean tasks.

But—

Trust me.

I'll always uphold Protocol Three.

Protect you. Forever.

Farewell, Pilot.

Goodbye, Kubo.

"B—T—!!!"

White flash at the Ark!

World-shaking blast!

RUMBLE—BOOM!

Brilliant light bloomed from the core.

BT's throw spared her the blast.

Everything blurred, twisted, ripped.

Like players' hearts.

Now, it hit—

Why "throwing's the only way" in glitches?

Why "ran the numbers, trust me" in doom?

Not humor.

BT never failed a Pilot.

Not once.

Streams fell silent.

Dust settled!

Sarah's ship jumped in, rescuing before Typhon blew.

Darkness faded.

Harmony loomed—blue, peaceful, like Earth.

Rebel fleet advanced, war ongoing.

Kubo would fight on.

"We blew Typhon, saved Harmony."

"Sarah's enlisting me in the Marauders, fight for home,"

"Yeah, I'm a legendary Pilot now,"

Kubo's voice, weathered:

"They'll assign a new Titan,"

"But first, clear my neural link to BT,"

"Don't know about a new one. Liked my old buddy."

Kubo gazed distant.

Typhon's dust—where he and BT battled.

Talking to someone? Or himself?

Here, Kubo's log ended.

But Gus Harper left space—for players' messages to BT—

You said no losing Pilots, but I lost you twice today.

If I could, I'd let you throw me again.

Under that calm synth voice, a loyal partner. Back to you, always. "Trust me."

One more bad joke?

Hey, BT, remember our thumbs-ups? Want to see it again…

If I could redo, I'd skip Lastimosa picking me…

In years ahead, I might forget Titanfall, but not my buddy. BT-7274, Vanguard Titan…

I miss you, BT.

Goodbye, BT.

Legendary Iron Pilot Jack Cooper, saluting you, brother.

End log.

Beep… beep…

Helmet flickered.

Silent.

WindyPeak logo faded in.

Tragic score rose—
