East Blue, Goa Kingdom, Windmill Village.
"Makino, I'm back!"
In the small tavern, a plain yet sturdy figure pushed open the door and shouted boisterously.
A boy, only about fifteen or sixteen years old, stood nearly 1.8 meters tall, wearing a white tank top. He carried a stunned wild boar on his shoulder... The wild boar was enormous, weighing at least two to three hundred kilograms, yet in the boy's hands, it seemed weightless.
"Ye Jia's back!"
Makino, with her ink-blue hair, gentle and lovely, gracious and generous, was tidying tables. Seeing the boy's figure, she looked up and responded with a smile.
"Get me a beer, the strongest kind!"
Ye Jia threw the wild boar onto the ground with a loud thud, then sat down at the bar and asked Makino for a beer.
"It's already ready for you!" Makino smiled, taking a beer from the fridge and placing it in front of Ye Jia.
"Thanks, Makino!"
Ye Jia grabbed the beer and gulped it down, a lot of it flowing down the corners of his mouth, onto his shoulders and chest, soaking his tank top.
"Ah! So refreshing!" Ye Jia put down the beer glass, content. "Makino, your bartending skills are getting better and better!"
"You just got back from hunting, you must be tired. Take a rest," Makino said with a gentle smile.
"Okay!"
Lying on the sofa, Ye Jia calmed his mind, and a colorful progress bar immediately appeared in his head.
"Progress: 99%."
It was bizarre, incredibly so.
Even though Ye Jia, in his previous life as an Earthling, was accustomed to all sorts of strange things, he had never seen anything so eerie!
A colorful progress bar had appeared in his mind, refusing to go away, impossible to forget, visible at all times as if it were real... Could there be anything stranger than this?
Oh, right, there actually was!
The other, even stranger thing was â the world he was currently in was none other than the world of One Piece!
At first, Ye Jia couldn't believe that he had come to the world of One Piece, but when he saw Marines, pirates, heard news about "Monkey D. Luffy," and various events concerning the Grand Line and the New World, he had no choice but to believe.
Especially upon seeing the familiar Makino and Windmill Village, Ye Jia finally understood that he had transmigrated to the village where Luffy was born, and it was here that Red-Haired Shanks gave his hat to Luffy, kicking off Luffy's legendary life!
It had been over three months since he awakened in the world of One Piece; strictly speaking, today marked exactly one hundred days.
According to Ye Jia's understanding of One Piece from his previous life, the current timeline he was in was precisely when Luffy had just caused a ruckus at Enies Lobby, creating a huge stir.
After this event would be the duel between Blackbeard and Ace. Fire Fist Ace, having been defeated, would be imprisoned by the Marines in the deepest level of Impel Down, awaiting execution.
And Blackbeard, having captured Ace, would become one of the new Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Gecko Moria, World Nobles, Empress Hancock... Ye Jia remembered every subsequent event with absolute clarity!
âŚ
Having been in this world for three months, Ye Jia had gone from being uncomfortable without internet or a phone to becoming numb and accustomed, fully adapting to the lives of the people here. He actually didn't find it so difficult anymore.
"What exactly is this progress bar in my head?"
Ye Jia pondered this question almost every day.
The progress bar increased by 1% each day, and today, after exactly one hundred days, it was about to reach 100%.
"What will happen when the progress bar is full?"
Ye Jia constantly fantasized.
However, his thoughts often drifted to the negative.
What if the progress bar represented his lifespan? Wouldn't that mean he was going to die today?
Or did the progress bar represent the time he had been in this world, and once the time was up, he would return to Earth, to his original world?
Ye Jia thought about the possible outcomes every day.
Just thenâ
"Hey! Bartender, give us a dozen beers!"
The tavern door was roughly pushed open, and several burly, fierce-looking men swaggered in.
Ye Jia's gaze immediately darkened.
"It's them again."
Ye Jia knew this group; they were the ruffians of Windmill Village.
These good-for-nothings did nothing but oppress the villagers day in and day out.
If anyone dared to resist, they would immediately resort to violence, ranging from severe injuries and spitting blood to permanent disability or even death. They had long become the undisputed tyrants of Windmill Village.
Ye Jia had only heard of their reputation before and hadn't really encountered them much.
They didn't frequent this bar often, as business was slow and there weren't many people, making it less interesting than other bars in the village.
But Ye Jia hadn't expected them to come knocking.
"Bartender, hurry up with the beer, I'm so thirsty my throat's practically smoking!"
The eight ruffians sat down, crossing their legs, smoking cigarettes, some even putting their feet on the tables.
The other patrons in the bar, seeing this, quietly left, not daring to linger. In the blink of an eye, the entire bar was left with only that one table of customers.
"Guests, your beer is here!"
Makino immediately brought the beer.
The ruffians chatted and laughed while drinking, their voices so noisy that Ye Jia couldn't sleep.
"These guys..." Ye Jia felt a surge of anger. He had just managed to rest, only to be disturbed by these ruffians.
But Ye Jia couldn't do anything.
Although he had a sturdy physique and, after three months of training, could hunt large wild boars alone.
He was still no match for these skilled ruffians.
These thugs were particularly formidable. Ye Jia had heard people say that they used to be pirates, but after encountering a particularly powerful pirate crew, their captain was killed, and the crew members either died or fled, leaving these few stranded in Windmill Village.
Even the hunters in Windmill Village were not as strong as them, so no one dared to provoke them.
"If only I could get a Devil Fruit and become an ability user, I'd send them flying!"
Ye Jia muttered indignantly.
Devil Fruits were a unique feature of One Piece; once consumed, one immediately gained special abilities. Their only drawbacks were a fear of seawater and vulnerability to Seastone.
If he had a Devil Fruit, these ruffians in front of him, hmph! What a joke!
Just as Ye Jia was thinking this, suddenly, the colorful progress bar in his mind reached its completion.
100%
"Zzzzzzzâ"
A silent electric current exploded in Ye Jia's head. Ye Jia felt as if he had been electrocuted, his entire body trembling.
"System binding complete. Welcome to the Synthesis System. You ask which system is the strongest? My Synthesis System is the strongest!"
A sweet female electronic voice echoed in Ye Jia's mind, startling him.
"Gah!"
"Who's talking?"
Ye Jia quickly looked around in fright, then his pupils suddenly contracted as he saw something in his mind. "This... what's with this cauldron?"
