The shockwave from the explosion wiped out most of the wave heading toward Alto Mare, but the remaining waves continued to rush toward the city.
Suicune's body also began to glow brightly. As it opened its mouth again, resonating with the seawater, a dozen waterspouts suddenly formed across the remaining wave front, spiraling up toward the sky. Although they couldn't compare in size or power to the large waterspout created by the Soul Dew, their sheer number was enough. The waves flowed up through the waterspouts, weakening and dispersing their flow from within.
Thanks to the combined efforts of the three Pokémon, although the tsunami did not completely disappear, the part of the wave facing Alto Mare was greatly weakened, to a level the city could withstand.
Seeing this, Natsui no longer hesitated. Just as the seawater was about to hit Suicune, he took out the Ultra Ball and recalled it. He then had Dragonite fly above the wave to search for Latias and Latios.
Perhaps because they had used all their strength, the two legendary Pokémon did not fly back into the air after hitting the tsunami. It was unclear if they were floating on the sea's surface or had sunk to the bottom.
With such a large wave, and in the middle of the night, finding them was extremely difficult.
Natsui searched for a long time without success. In the end, it was Dragonite's sharp eyes that spotted Latias and Latios huddled together on the surface of the water, drifting with the current.
He signaled for Dragonite to lower its altitude. As they got closer, he could see that the two Pokémon were completely exhausted and unable to move.
Just then, Dragonite suddenly cried out. Following its gaze, Natsui realized that the wave was about to crash into the castle ruins on the seabed. If they didn't get Latias and Latios out of the water quickly, they would be smashed to pieces by the current.
"Dragonite, lift them up!"
Dragonite flew above the two legendary Pokémon and tried to wrap its not-so-long arms around Latios. But Latios was a large Pokémon, two meters long. Dragonite tried several times but couldn't lift him.
Forced to change its target, it turned to Latias. Although Latias was relatively smaller, it was still a struggle to hold her.
More importantly, even if it took Latias, Latios would be left behind.
Seeing Dragonite's anxious expression, Natsui felt a headache coming on.
If Charizard were here, they could have carried both of them away. But he had left it at the Charicific Valley long ago.
Even Gengar had been left on the shore to protect Erika and the others. If it were here, it could have used its mystical powers to lift the two Pokémon into the air.
But now, besides Dragonite, Natsui had no other Pokémon that could fly.
This was a difficult situation.
Seeing the wave getting closer and closer to the ruins, he knew there was no time to waste. He gritted his teeth and took out two Poké Balls from his pouch.
"Latios, Latias, this is an emergency! Please stay in these Poké Balls for a little while. Don't worry, I'm not trying to catch you. I'll let you out as soon as we get to shore!"
Latios didn't even have the strength to lift its head. It raised its face slightly, looked at Natsui, and gave a small nod. It clearly understood the danger and knew it had no other choice.
Beside him, Latias just looked curiously at the Poké Balls in Natsui's hands, blinking her innocent eyes.
He aimed the two Poké Balls at them. Red beams of light shot out, enveloped the two Pokémon, and drew them inside.
The Poké Balls in his hands shook only slightly, with no sign of a struggle. With two soft clicks, they fell silent.
After rescuing the two Pokémon, Natsui nudged Dragonite's side with his leg. Dragonite flapped its wings and flew high, carrying him back toward Alto Mare.
Just as he left, the remaining tsunami crashed into the castle ruins. Under the immense force, the dilapidated castle instantly collapsed without so much as a splash.
The tsunami then continued onward, sweeping toward Alto Mare.
Dragonite carried Natsui at high speed, landing back in the plaza in just a short time. As soon as he landed, he took out the Poké Balls and released Latias and Latios.
Just as he had said, putting them in the Poké Balls was merely an expedient measure. He wasn't taking advantage of the situation but was genuinely trying to save them. That's why he released them the moment they were on shore.
As the blue light faded, everyone immediately surrounded the extremely weak Latias and Latios on the ground.
"Latios! Latias! Are you okay!?"
Although they were a bit surprised to see them released from Natsui's Poké Balls, no one said anything. Even Lorenzo just sighed with a complicated expression.
Everyone knew how dangerous it must have been. The fact that Natsui had done this meant it must have been a moment of absolute necessity.
Erika and Brock knelt down to check on them. Seeing that the two Pokémon had no external injuries, they nodded to the others.
"There are no major problems. They've just exhausted all their energy."
Before Ash and the others could say anything, a loud rumbling sound came from behind them. They turned to see that the giant wave had reached the outskirts of the city. Fortunately, after being weakened earlier, although it still looked fierce, it was no longer as terrifying as before.
"The ground here is too low. We should get to higher ground quickly."
At Lorenzo's reminder, the group immediately realized the plaza was not safe. They hurried toward the higher parts of the city. This time, with everyone there to help, Natsui didn't need to put Latias and Latios back into their Poké Balls.
The wave came quickly, crashing against the city's protective seawall and surging into the canals. The water level rose rapidly before their eyes.
The wooden boats that had been resting on the riverbed were now swept deeper into the city by the rushing water.
But in any case, the wave's power was much weaker. Apart from flooding some low-lying areas, it didn't cause any more damage.
Natsui and the others climbed a dozen steps up a staircase, and the water was no longer a threat.
After waiting for about half an hour, the waves slowly receded. They realized that the terrifying crisis had finally subsided.
