Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 — Ashen Oracle Trial

The cavernous chamber of the Ashen Oracle lay deep within the molten heart of the Ashen Marches. Rivers of lava snaked like veins beneath cracked obsidian floors, casting an eerie red glow that danced across the ancient runes carved into the walls.

Kael, Lyra, Darric, and their new allies—Pyra, the emberblade, and Eren, the Ash-Hound knight—stood before the Oracle's altar. The air was thick with anticipation and heat, the promise of revelation burning hotter than the surrounding flames.

The Oracle's voice echoed through the chamber, low and resonant. "To claim the power you seek, Kael Rivenhart, you must face the trial of fire—not just of flame, but of will."

From the shadows, the first opponent emerged—a towering elemental wreathed in living fire, eyes blazing with ancient wrath. It moved like molten rock made flesh, each step scorching the ground beneath it.

Kael's grip tightened on Ashrend as the Mark pulsed fiercely against his chest. "I'm ready."

The elemental charged, its fiery fists crashing down with the force of eruptions.

Kael leapt into motion, weaving between blazing strikes, his blade igniting with a fierce red aura.

"Crimson Flare Slash!" he roared, swinging Ashrend in a wide arc that carved a crescent of searing energy through the elemental's chest.

The creature staggered but retaliated with a burst of flame, engulfing Kael in heat so intense the air shimmered.

Darric and Lyra moved in tandem—Darric's shield deflecting molten shards while Lyra's arrows pierced weak points revealed by Kael's assault.

Pyra stepped forward, her emberblade igniting in response to the elemental's fury. Together, they formed a deadly dance of flame and steel.

Kael's eyes flashed as the Mark flared wildly. He summoned his deepest strength and channeled it through Ashrend.

"Crimson Inferno Strike!" The blade blazed like a comet, slicing through the elemental in a final, devastating blow that shattered it into embers.

Silence fell.

The Oracle's voice returned, softer but filled with gravitas. "You have passed the trial, but the fire within you is a double-edged sword. Harness it well, or be consumed."

Kael nodded, breathing heavily. His journey was far from over, and the path ahead burned with danger—and destiny.
