The triplets lined up like tiny soldiers awaiting orders. Amelia's gaze softened as she took them in. Last night, discovering Brad's gifts displayed on their shelves had kept her up late, thinking about structure and priorities.
"Look, we have been back a while now, and you have been hanging around the house too much." She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I know you are all crazy smart, but that is not enough. Even I am still learning new medical techniques all the time. Nobody gets to coast on brains alone."
Samuel nearly choked on his coffee, bracing himself for the whining and tears that usually followed when adults told kids to do more studying.
"So," Amelia continued, her voice firm but kind, "I am signing you up for some classes. You get to pick what you like, but learning itself is not up for debate."
To Samuel's shock, the triplets just nodded like this was totally expected.
