Chapter 10 - The Shocking Finale ( 1 )

Danny: The killer is Rayan.

Lin (shocked, rising from her chair, voice loud): What did you say?!

Danny: Please calm down first, and sit.

Lin (still raising her voice, eyes sharp at Danny): And why should I calm down? You called me here just to tell me that? She yells loudly, drawing the attention of everyone in the café. You asked me to come and accuse my brother's friend — whom I consider my brother, no, even like a son to me. I have seen him grow before my eyes, and now you come and tell me he is a killer? I don't want to hear anything from you. I didn't expect this from you.

She grabbed her bag and was about to leave, but Danny grabbed her hand and said, "Please, at least hear me out."

She pulled her hand away and left the café.

Lin returned home furious at what she heard from Danny. She sat silently, unable to comprehend it all. Later, Rayan and Yaman came home, laughing and chatting as they entered and headed toward the living room, where they found Lin sitting as if lost in another world, her face etched with worry, frustration, and anger. They approached to talk with her.

Rayan: Look, Yaman, our big girl... I guess today she realized she really has grown up and is still unmarried, that's why she looks like that.

Yaman (laughing): I think you're right, brother.

Lin (unusually calm): You're here, good. Let me help you with the food.

She got up from the sofa and quietly walked toward the kitchen.

Yaman: Something definitely happened to her.

Rayan: Absolutely, something is troubling her, and we don't know what.

Yaman: So what should we do?

Rayan: I know, but we can't just leave her like this.

Yaman: Okay, I have an idea. smiling Let's do what we used to do when we were kids.

Rayan: That's a great idea.

Rayan and Yaman went to the kitchen aiming to cheer Lin up.

Yaman: We came to help you cook today.

Lin: No need, go sit. I'll help you quickly and bring it to you.

Rayan: Didn't I tell you Lin won't let me help if you come along? You're hopeless, you don't know anything, you fool.

Yaman: No, you're the fool. You don't even know how to mix the dough.

Rayan: Fine, I'll show you what I can do.

Yaman: No, I'll show you.

They took some flour and tried mixing it but failed miserably. They got themselves covered in flour, and the flour in their pots mixed with water made a muddy mess. They then started yelling at each other, accusing the other of ruining everything, before dumping flour all over each other.

Lin laughed loudly and said: "Stop, you two troublemakers! What are you doing? You made a mess! Don't you see the chaos you caused? You really are still kids."

Yaman and Rayan looked at Lin with tenderness and innocence.

Lin (opening her arms with a motherly smile): Come here, you fools.

Lin hugged Yaman and Rayan, laughing with tears in her eyes. They teased her: "Old lady, are you crying?"

She retorted, "Shut up, you fools! You ruined the kitchen, so now it's your turn to clean it up. Now go get washed, I'll finish the food quickly."

Both: Okay.

After Lin finished preparing the food and placed it on the table, she called Yaman and Rayan to eat. They were sitting in front of the TV playing video games.

The three sat at the table. Yaman and Rayan teased each other like children, arguing about who won or lost the game.

Rayan: What happened to you, Lin? Why were you so sad?

Yaman: Yeah, sis, I've never seen you like that before. What happened? Tell us.

Lin (smiling): Nothing. It's just work stress.

Yaman: But even when you were on hospital shifts, you handled all the pressure. What changed this time? Please tell me the truth.

Rayan: Yaman is right. Don't hide anything from us. And if someone's bothering you, just tell us, and we'll show them their limits.

Lin (laughing): So you both have grown up and want to protect me?

I'm surprised by you two. jokingly

But don't worry, nothing's wrong. It's just that the hospital's new director is difficult to deal with, that's why I've been upset a little.

Rayan: Then change your workplace.

Yaman: Yeah, you're not forced to deal with that manager.

Lin: No, I overreacted a bit. Everything's fine, don't worry. Now stop talking and finish your food before it gets cold — then you'll have to clean the mess you made in my kitchen.

Rayan, Yaman: Yes, Your Majesty.

They laughed, and Rayan and Yaman continued to annoy each other like kids about who messed up the kitchen first and who will clean more.

Lin looked at them and said quietly to herself:

It's impossible for either of them to be criminals. Rayan and Yaman are as innocent as children. I'm sure Detective Danny misunderstood. I must meet him and talk again.

Lin sent Danny a message asking him to meet her tomorrow in the park.

---

The next morning, Lin went to meet Danny in the park as she had told him in the message. She found him waiting.

He was sitting on a chair; Lin came from behind and sat next to him.

Danny: Thank you for coming and inviting me. I appreciate that.

Lin: Don't rush. I didn't come to listen to your lies and silly suspicions. I'm here for my brother.

Do you know who Rayan is to me and my brother? Let me tell you what Rayan means to Yaman. He is his whole world. Do you think he would believe you if you told him this? He would be shocked to hear it from you. That's why I came today to meet you and clarify this matter.

Danny: I know. That's why I didn't talk to Yaman. I know exactly what Rayan means to Yaman, and that's why I asked you to listen.

Lin: But what am I supposed to hear? Lies? I came only to ask you to stop this or you will lose my brother for life.

Danny: I'm not asking much, just ten minutes to explain things to you. Just listen, then you can leave, and I won't bother you again.

Lin placed her phone between them and set the timer:

You have only ten minutes to speak

Danny: Thank you, these ten minutes mean a lot to me.

I want you to know, Lynn, that I never said Ryan was the killer. I'm certain of it, but I never accused him, as you say. All the evidence we have leads to only one person—Ryan.

Lynn: And what evidence are you talking about?

Danny: Well, let me explain more clearly.

When Yaman and I were at the stadium, we were waiting for Ryan. But something happened and I had to leave. On my way out, I bumped into Ryan. He was wearing a black jacket covering his head, and the bag he was carrying had some bloodstains on it. That day, I couldn't clearly see his face, but I noticed the bracelet he wears on his wrist.

Lynn: And what does that mean?

Danny: That night when I met Ryan, I was being called for investigation regarding the death of a victim. The crime scene was very close to the stadium. During the investigation, it turned out the killer had injured himself and left bloodstains behind.

Lynn: So you want to say Ryan is the killer just because by coincidence there were bloodstains on his bag?

Danny: No, there is more to it.

Don't you remember the sample that disappeared from the lab?

Lynn: Yes, but... what does Ryan have to do with that?

Danny: You said Ryan came to visit you at the hospital that day, right?

Lynn: Yes, so you think Ryan took that sample?

Danny: Exactly. He was wearing the same bracelet I saw on him that night. That's what raised my suspicion.

Lynn: If Ryan had taken it, the police would have caught him. The place is monitored, and Ryan was waiting for me, he got into the car.

Danny: That's not true. The police couldn't catch him because he disabled the cameras.

Lynn (mocking): So Ryan is a professional criminal?

Danny: Please, Lynn, try to understand what I mean. Do you remember that night we had dinner together?

Lynn: Yes.

Danny: Do you remember the conversation we had when we heard your upstairs neighbor shouting at his daughter and wife?

Lynn: Yes, but what do I gain from you mentioning that now?

Danny: I'll gain a lot.

You remember Ryan was upset when he heard his neighbor yelling, saying, "I hope justice is served." Ryan replied, "Don't worry, justice will surely be served." The next day, the man was found dead.

Lynn: He committed suicide. He killed himself, there's no one who murdered him as you imagine. (She mocks again) So, according to you, Ryan was fulfilling Yaman's wish by killing that man? I didn't expect your imagination to be so wild, Detective Danny. The ten minutes are over, and I can't bear hearing more of your baseless suspicions.

Danny: Okay, Lynn, you can go for today, but be sure I will bring you strong evidence, and you will see that I'm telling the truth.

Lynn (turning her back to leave): When you bring that evidence, we can talk. Although I'm sure you'll never get it, Detective.

Lynn leaves the park. Danny stands talking to himself.

Danny: "I will find him for sure."

He took out his phone and called.

Danny: "I'm leaving the city. Send me all files related to recent suicide cases."

Voice on phone: "But sir, I've already seen all of them."

Danny: "This time, I want them presented differently. Previously, they included the victim's life and whether they had enemies. But now, search carefully if the victim was involved in crimes before or caused injustice to someone else."

"Send me these files by email as soon as possible."

Voice on phone: "At your command, sir."

Danny talking to himself again:

"I will arrest you no matter what it takes. Just wait and see who will win in the end."
