Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Conflict Within

Blazing Dawn had grown stronger—but not without sparks.

With five powerful personalities now in the mix, tension brewed beneath the surface like embers waiting to ignite.

---

Training Grounds – Morning Drill

Aira watched as Kael and Korin sparred again, but something felt... off.

Kael dodged with effortless grace, wind whirling at his feet. Korin's strikes came fast and brutal, lightning crackling with frustration.

Mira cast a small Calm Field, trying to smooth the tension.

Lina whispered, "They've been like this for days. Ever since Kael joined."

The final blow came when Kael parried Korin's sword with a gust—and sent him flying into the training wall.

CRACK.

Everyone froze.

"You done showing off?" Korin growled, picking himself up.

Kael hovered a few feet above the ground, arms crossed. "You're the one who challenged me. Don't whine when you lose."

"You don't get to talk like that," Korin snapped. "You haven't bled with us—not like we have."

---

Evening – The Confrontation

Back at their temporary base, things boiled over.

Korin stood face to face with Aira, tension in every line of his body.

"He doesn't respect the team," Korin said. "And you keep letting him act like he owns the sky."

Aira remained calm, her voice low but steady. "I'm letting him act like himself. Just like I let you swing your sword however you want."

Korin's jaw clenched. "I followed you because you didn't act like the guild puppets. But if this turns into your empire, Aira... I'm out."

The room went silent.

Kael, leaning against the wall, finally spoke. "Then maybe we both need to be reminded this isn't about ego."

Lina stepped between them. "Enough. We're fighting the wrong enemy."

Mira's voice cut through like a blade. "We trust each other, or we fall apart."

Later That Night — Rooftop

Aira sat alone, staring into the night.

Her flame flickered on her palm—low, uncertain.

Her power was growing, but without unity… it meant nothing.

Just then, Kael joined her, this time without the wind.

"You okay?" he asked.

"I thought forming my own team would free me," she said. "But maybe I'm just building the same chains."

Kael looked out over the horizon. "No… you're building something real. And real things crack before they stand tall."

---

Morning – Renewal

The next morning, Aira stood before the team, eyes blazing.

"No more silence. No more passive aggression. Say what you need to say—now."

One by one, they spoke.

Korin admitted his fear of being replaced.

Kael owned up to testing boundaries.

Mira confessed her worry about holding them together.

Lina spoke of her fear of being left behind.

And Aira… confessed her fear of failing all of them.

And just like that—words cooled what battle couldn't.
