Li Yuan felt a need to understand, in a practical sense, how his Wrapping Understanding worked to control his passive effects.
He knew this second understanding functioned like a membrane that limited the spread of his resonance. But where, exactly, did the "wrapping" take place? How did the mechanism work?
Li Yuan focused his consciousness on his consciousness body, trying to sense where the Wrapping Understanding performed its function.
Right here.
He felt something in the area of his abdomen—not a physical abdomen, but the spiritual equivalent of that area in his consciousness body. It was there that all the passive effects of his seventeen understandings were gathered, filtered, and "wrapped" before being radiated outward.
It was like a control center.
Li Yuan imagined the Wrapping Understanding working like an adjustable valve. All the resonance from his understandings flowed to this point, and then the Wrapping Understanding determined how much was allowed to flow out and how far it would spread.
Under normal conditions—with the full control he now had—the valve was almost completely closed. The passive effects were still there, as they couldn't be eliminated entirely, but their range was limited to a very small radius.
One meter.
That was the radius Li Yuan felt was safe to leave open. Within one meter of his body, the passive effects of his understandings could still be felt—but only as a very subtle and non-intrusive influence.
Someone standing within a meter might feel a slight calm from the Water Understanding, a bit of peace from the Silence Understanding, but the influence was so gentle that it was barely noticeable.
Outside the one-meter radius, nothing was felt at all.
Li Yuan experimented with tightening the "wrapping" even more. The one-meter radius shrank to fifty centimeters. Then twenty centimeters. He could even shrink it to almost touching his own body.
But he couldn't eliminate it entirely. Passive effects were a fundamental property of spiritual understandings—as long as he was alive and had consciousness, the resonance would continue to exist.
What was important was the control over its spread.
Li Yuan felt how valuable this ability was. Without the Wrapping Understanding, the 100,000-kilometer radius he calculated in his Zhenjing would be a terrifying reality.
But there was another aspect he noticed.
There was an exception to this wrapping system.
When Li Yuan imagined someone approaching him with malicious intent—for example, to attack him or harm the people he was protecting—he felt that the Wrapping Understanding reacted automatically.
The wrapping loosened for the person with ill intent.
It wasn't because Li Yuan consciously decided to release control. The Wrapping Understanding had a kind of "intuition" about intent and did not provide the same protection to those who came with the intent to harm.
Someone who approached with the intent to attack would be affected by the full passive effects in a much wider radius—maybe ten or twenty meters. They would feel the gentleness of the Water Understanding softening their aggression, the stillness of the Silence Understanding suppressing their anger, the doubt from the Doubt Understanding making them question their own motivations.
It was like an automated defense system.
Li Yuan was amazed by the level of sophistication of the Wrapping Understanding. This understanding not only served as a passive control over the spread of effects but also as a defense mechanism that could distinguish between good and bad intent.
But most importantly—the passive effects themselves were still filtered through the Water Core Consciousness.
Even though the wrapping loosened for those with ill intent, the effects they felt remained harmonious and non-damaging because they were filtered through the gentle and adaptive nature of water.
An attacker would not experience mental chaos or spiritual breakdown. They would only feel an influence that made them lose the motivation to attack—like anger slowly melting away, like aggression turning into confusion, like the desire to harm turning into the question, "Why do I want to do this?"
An elegant system.
Li Yuan realized that the combination of his Water Core Consciousness and his Wrapping Understanding created an almost perfect system:
For ordinary people: Full protection, with almost no effects felt.
For people who are emotionally close: Gentle and healing effects within a small radius.
For people with bad intentions: An effect sufficient to soften their ill intent without damaging their soul.
And for myself?
Li Yuan realized that he could not escape the effects of his own understandings. At the center of all this wrapping, he still had to live with the full influence of his seventeen understandings.
That's why the Core Consciousness was so important to him personally. Without Water as a filter and harmonizer, he himself would be torn apart by the internal contradictions of all his understandings.
I live at the center of a storm, but the eye of this storm is calm because of Water.
Li Yuan felt a deep appreciation for the system he had developed—partly consciously, partly instinctively. Each element worked together to create a balance that allowed for high-level spiritual cultivation without endangering himself or others.
In the Realm of Questions, surrounded by the landscapes of all his understandings, Li Yuan felt a peace that came from a deep understanding of the internal system that protected him and the world around him.
A controlled radius. Harmonious effects. Selective protection.
All working together to allow the spiritual journey to continue safely.
And that journey was still long.
