Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Warming Up

It's only been a few hours since we arrived in this world, it was around 4 in the afternoon. This world and ours seemed to have different time schedules. Boston seems to be excited about this whole situation. I can't blame him though, this is something both of us have fantasized about. Though I don't think it's going like Boston thought it would. Every now and then a girl will approach us and push past Boston to talk to me. It seems like the girls here were the same back in our world.

The more girls approach me the more I see his joy disappear. I've tried to get some of the girls to talk to him as well but they just scoff and keep talking to me. The kids seem to love him though, which isn't shocking. Our younger siblings adored him, and he was always kind to them. The kids seem to bring back the joy he loses back. Our first goal is to find a place to eat since it's been around 5 hours since we first arrived here (we came to this world at 11 in the morning in this world's time).

We kept wandering until Boston thought of something, "Why don't we go to the Inn? It's bound to have a dining area for the residents" He sees the confused look on my face, which is from how he would even think of that.

"What? It's classic isekai anime 101. The Inn's that the main characters stay in always have a dining area. Same with the adventure guild" His eyes widen in realization, "Come on, we need to see if there's a guild. If there is, we can become adventurers and make money. Use that money and buy gear. Our current goal is the help the kingdom, and what better way to do that than become stronger"

He was practically pulling me through the streets, looking around to see if he could find a guild.

"Why don't we just ask someone if there's a guild?" I plant my foot and stop him from dragging me to look around. "It would be easier to ask someone if there's a guild then walk aimlessly"

He face palmed himself, "That's actually a good idea, why didn't I think of that?"

We end up asking one of the merchants selling stuff on the side of the street if there were any guild in the kingdom. Surprisingly there was and Boston was proud of himself for knowing there was one. The merchant gave us the directions to the guild and Boston began running. He was outrunning me which was surprising, he'd never been so excited about anything until now.

We eventually arrive at the guild and Boston walks in confidently. I follow behind him because despite me and him both watching anime he was more into it than I was. He approached the front desk and asked if he could get an adventurer license. The woman didn't even bat an eye at him before spitting out, "I'm not interested, creep".

I couldn't help but chuckle, he hadn't even asked her out and got rejected.

"Let me try" I put my hand on his shoulder and step to the desk, "Good evening ma'am, would it be possible for me and my brother here to get an adventurer license."

The woman glanced up, the second she laid eyes on me she shot up, fixing her hair, makeup and she even straightened her posture.

She began to speak, stammering her words"Y-yes, I can get you your adventurer license" she opens a drawer and pulls out two application forms, "Please fill these out and we can get you your licenses."

Despite the interaction that happened between Boston and the lady he was eager. He grabbed his form and began filling it out immediately. The form only required our name, age, and race (human, elf, etc.). Once we both fill out our forms we hand them back to the woman. She takes them and reads over them before pulling out a giant crystal.

"Alright, please put your hand on the crystal so we can measure your mana level to decide which rank you're in" She sets the crystal in front of us on the counter with a thud. For the first time since we got here Boston seemed nervous. He reached out slowly and put his hand on the crystal and I began to glow with a blind light. The lady looks stunned but then she swats his hand off of the crystal.

"Y-you have the same amount of mana as an S-rank…" her face was covered in shock. She then turned towards me. "If he's able to get S-rank then there's no doubt you can't get it either"

Boston just stared at her, despising her for the blatant favoritism. I chuckled at the situation, finding it a bit funny before putting my hand in the orb. It began to glow a blinding light like Bostons, except this time the lady gently grabbed my hand and moved it off. I swear I've never seen Boston wanna murder someone more.

I bring my hand back and rub my wrist nervously, "I'm assuming me and him are both S-ranks then? How is that even possible?" I look back at Boston, knowing he'd come up with a logical answer.

"It's gotta be because we got summoned here." Boston began, "I mean the townspeople prayed for people to help their kingdom and the goddess they prayed to brought us here. She probably gave us an absurd amount of mana to make helping the kingdom possible."

The lady at the counter stared at us talking before it clicked, "W-Wait, you're the kingdom's saviors!?" She turned to Boston, "I'm so so sorry for calling you a creep. I didn't know who you were a-and I-"

Boston cut her off by doing the classic quiet coyote, "It's fine, it's not like I'm gonna exile you or anything"

I raised an eyebrow at him, "You sure? Because right now the way you're looking at her makes it seem like you wanna exile her entire family"

He smirked before looking back at me, "So? It's not like I can, and even if I wanted to I wouldn't. It's wrong." He turned towards the woman once again, "So, when are we able to get our Adventurer licenses?"

The lady (I'm too lazy to give her a name) was now visibly nervous, "You'll be able to get them tomorrow." She took our forms and tapped them on the counter, "Go to wherever you're staying and come back tomorrow"

I smiled and for the first time since being in this world I acted first, "You heard her, let's go to that Inn we were told about." I smack Boston on the back and begin to head to the door

"Right behind ya." He slaps the back of my head as he follows behind me, "Told ya I would do that."
