Chapter 69 - NSWR: Chapter 69

Nothing at all.

Then what was the purpose of that individual suppressing Shukaku? What was his true motivation?

However, now is not the time for such detailed contemplation.

Rasa clapped his hands together, initiating the control of a massive sand-iron storm that swept towards Shukaku with unrestrained fury.

A magnificent and intense battle between the Kazekage and the rampaging tailed beast ensued, a clash of incredible power and devastating techniques.

While this was not Sunagakure, and the surrounding environment lacked the boundless expanse of desert, significantly hindering Rasa's full potential, it could not be denied that Rasa was an exceptional shinobi.

Even under these less-than-ideal circumstances, he ultimately managed to defeat the rampaging Shukaku.

He then proceeded to seal Shukaku within the Black Tea Cauldron, effectively containing the powerful beast.

"Alright, let's return to the village immediately!"

Rasa, visibly exhausted and breathing heavily, instructed Maki and the other Sunagakure ninjas to begin their journey back to the village.

"We must find a new jinchuriki without delay!"

Rasa thought as he traveled, his mind focused on the urgent task ahead.

"And that mysterious individual from before… we must investigate his identity and determine his true allegiances!

However, it seems he has no desire to become an enemy of Sunagakure, and his power is immense.

We must proceed with extreme caution and gather as much information as possible before taking any further action."

Thinking about the mysterious shinobi who had so easily defeated him and restrained Shukaku, Rasa's face grew visibly serious, reflecting the weight of his responsibilities.

Unbeknownst to Rasa, he was already being targeted by the very individual he was so wary of. The wheels were already in motion.

That's right, Kouki had begun to formulate a plan targeting Sunagakure. His ambition was expanding.

Having thoroughly explored and checked in at nearly every significant location within Konoha, it was time to consider expanding his check-in business to new territories. He needed to diversify his portfolio.

Sunagakure presented itself as a promising and potentially lucrative option, and Kouki was particularly interested in Rasa's unique Magnet Release and the vast potential of sand-iron manipulation.

Beneath Kannabi Bridge, at Obito's secret base of operations.

Gurgle!

A White Zetsu emerged from the ground, addressing Obito with a report: "As expected, Nagato and the others have deduced that you were the mastermind behind the recent events and manipulations."

"They have also realized that your true objective is to seize the Rinnegan from Nagato Uzumaki," another White Zetsu added, emerging from the ground to provide additional information.

"The Akatsuki organization has placed you on their assassination list. They will not hesitate to kill you on sight if they encounter you again!"

Obito's brow furrowed deeply, his expression reflecting his growing frustration and concern.

The situation he had most feared had finally come to pass. His carefully laid plans were unraveling.

There were few fools in the ninja world, especially among the three leaders who had single-handedly built and expanded the Akatsuki organization from nothing.

While they were characterized by their inherent purity and kindness, that did not equate to a lack of intelligence or strategic thinking.

"Those ungrateful fools! The Rinnegan was never rightfully his to possess!" Obito scoffed, his voice laced with disdain and anger.

"They have completely lost trust in you. What course of action should we take now?" Black Zetsu's voice remained eerily calm, as always, a testament to its ancient and monstrous nature.

Obito remained silent, lost in deep thought, carefully considering his options and the potential consequences of each path.

The elaborate and carefully constructed play he had meticulously orchestrated had been completely ruined by his own clan, exposing his true intentions and leaving him with a seemingly irreparable situation.

No matter how much he attempted to manipulate Nagato, the Uzumaki shinobi would never trust him again. The bridge had been burned.

"Our ultimate plan requires the Rinnegan, not the continued existence of Nagato Uzumaki!" After a prolonged silence, Obito finally spoke, his words carefully chosen.

"Are you suggesting…?" Black Zetsu inquired, its tone indicating that it had already anticipated Obito's intentions.

"We must find a new host for the Rinnegan! A more suitable vessel for its immense power!" Obito declared with a resolute tone, indicating that he had made his decision.

"Do you have any specific candidates in mind?" Black Zetsu asked, indicating its agreement with Obito's plan.

Nagato was effectively beyond redemption.

"Since these eyes originally belonged to Madara, it is only logical that we first consider Madara's descendants, the members of the Uchiha clan."

"Not just anyone is worthy of wielding the power of the Rinnegan. It requires a specific lineage and inherent aptitude."

Obito admitted that he did not fully understand why Madara had chosen to entrust the Rinnegan to a member of the Uzumaki clan, but from a purely genetic standpoint, the Uchiha were the most suitable recipients for the powerful dōjutsu.

Nighttime.

At the Akatsuki base of operations.

Inside a dimly lit room.

Gurgle!

A White Zetsu quietly emerged from the ground, carefully observing Nagato, who was lying in bed, emitting soft, rhythmic snores.

A satisfied smile spread across its face before it submerged back into the earth.

"Nagato is asleep and vulnerable. We can proceed with the operation. Inform Obito immediately!"

The White Zetsu swiftly transmitted this information to the other White Zetsu stationed at Madara's secret base.

Hum!

A space-time vortex materialized within Nagato's room.

Obito, wearing his signature mask, silently appeared beside Nagato's bed, his presence completely undetected.

"Nagato, I am reclaiming these eyes. You are not worthy to possess them!"

Obito thought coldly, his resolve unwavering, before swiftly reaching out and brutally gouging out Nagato's eyes.

"Ah!"

Nagato's agonizing scream echoed through the silent night, a chilling testament to the brutality of Obito's actions.

"Nagato!"

"Nagato!"

Yahiko and Konan were the first to respond, bursting into the room and witnessing a masked figure being drawn into a swirling space-time vortex. Their horror was palpable.
