Chapter 4 - The World's In Chaos

The wolf world was in utter chaos, and the reason? The True Blood Alpha, Sorin Aldric, had finally found his mate.

The revelation tore through the packs like a raging wildfire, unstoppable and all consuming. Messengers darted between territories, their voices trembling with the weight of the news. The air buzzed with excitement and unease, a mixture of hope and dread.

For years, the True Blood Alpha had been a figure of unmatched power, his very name a symbol of dominance and strength. But with his mate's arrival, everything was about to change.

Alliances would be tested, rivalries reignited, and the delicate balance of power that held the wolf world together threatened to shatter.

Some saw it as a blessing, a chance for unity under the True Blood Alpha's reign, his mate destined to amplify his strength and wisdom. Others feared the unknown, questioning what kind of bond could shake the foundations of their world so profoundly.

The moonlit nights grew heavier with tension, the howls of wolves carrying an electric anticipation as packs gathered to share tales of the fated bond. Who was this mate powerful enough to claim Tru blood alpha's heart? And what would their union mean for the future of their kind?

The answer lingered on the edge of the horizon, waiting to unfold with the next full moon.

To hear that the invincible, solitary wolf had found his Luna sent shockwaves through every wolf.

Some wolves were genuinely overjoyed. They celebrated the news with howls of delight echoing into the night sky, their hearts warm at the thought of their alpha no longer walking the lonely path. They knew what this meant, not just for Sorin but for the entire wolf kind.

A mated True Blood Alpha was stronger, more powerful, and more unstoppable than ever before. It was a beacon of hope, a promise of stability and strength for their packs.

But not everyone was happy. Jealousy brewed in the hearts of many. Wolves who had once dreamed of catching the alpha's eye felt their hopes shatter like glass. Some had dared to imagine themselves standing beside him, sharing his throne, his power, his name.

Now, all those dreams were reduced to ashes, replaced by bitter envy and unspoken resentment.

And then there were those who pretended not to care, burying themselves in their daily routines, acting as if the world hadn't just tilted on its axis. But even they couldn't entirely ignore the whispers, the electrifying tension in the air.

The True Blood Alpha, had found his mate. And though the identity of the one who had captured his heart remained a mystery, one thing was certain...the wolf world would never be the same again.

Who even cares about the world? Certainly not Sorin Aldric. And why would he? The chaos, the whispers, the jealousy, it was all insignificant compared to the one thing that mattered most to him: his mate.

His world, his reason to breathe, his everything. All he cared about was his mate's safety, his well being, and the thought of being by his side.

It had been two agonizing weeks since Sorin had met his mate or should he say, since he had been left his sleeping mate behind.

Every second away from him felt like a punishment.

The ache in his chest grew stronger with each passing day, a constant reminder that a piece of his soul was missing. He wanted nothing more than to run back to his mate, to wrap her in his arms, to feel her warmth and know she was safe. That was the only way Sorin could find peace.

But duty was a cruel master. The pack's emergency had demanded his attention, and as if that wasn't enough, his cousin had arrived unannounced, bringing with him a flurry of unresolved issues. Sorin had no choice but to stay. The responsibilities of being the True Blood Alpha weighed heavily on his shoulders.

In the grand dining hall of the packhouse, Sorin sat at the head of the table, his fingers drumming impatiently against the polished wood. His cousin, Mark, lounged across from him, a teasing smirk on his face.

"You look like a wolf on the verge of snapping, Sorin," Mark said, swirling the glass of wine in his hand. "What's got you so restless? Or should I say… who?''

Sorin's eyes flashed dangerously, but he didn't bother denying it. "You know exactly who," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "Don't play games with me, Mark. I don't have the patience for it."

Mark chuckled, unfazed by the warning. "I heard the news, of course. The whole world has. The mighty true blood alpha has finally found his Luna. I must say, I'm curious. What kind of wolf managed to capture your cold, unyielding heart?"

Sorin's jaw tightened, his fists clenching on the table. ''she's not just any wolf, you are talking about" he said, his voice softening slightly. "She's… everything. The moment I saw her, I knew. My wolf knew. She's my mate, my other half. And every second I'm away from her feels like torture."

Mark raised an eyebrow, his teasing demeanor fading into something more serious. "Then why are you still here? You're Sorin Aldric. You don't let anything stand in your way."

Sorin let out a bitter laugh, leaning back in his chair. "Do you think I don't want to? If it weren't for the pack emergency and mom and dad being away, I would have left long ago. But I can't bring her here, not yet. Not until I've ensured everything is secure. She deserves to come home to a place that's safe, where she'll be cherished and protected. And with my parents out of the country, I have to stay back and make sure everything is in order before I bring her here."

Mark studied him for a moment before speaking. "You've changed, Rin. I've never seen you like this. You're not just thinking as an alpha anymore. You're thinking as a mate."

Sorin's gaze softened, a small, almost vulnerable smile playing on his lips. "I can't explain it, Mark. She's… she's my everything. I'll burn the world to the ground if it means keeping her safe."

"I know batter," Mark leaned forward, his expression thoughtful. "Then stop torturing yourself. Finish what needs to be done here and go to him. The pack will understand. And if they don't, I'll handle it. But don't keep your mate waiting too long. A bond like this isn't something you take for granted."

Sorin nodded, determination hardening his features. "I just need a little more time to tie up the loose ends. Then nothing will stop me from bringing her home."

Sorin's thoughts drifted back to his mate. His heart ached with longing, but his resolve was stronger than ever. Soon, he promised himself. Soon, he would bring his mate home, and no force in the world would ever tear them apart again.

--------------

Selene wasn't any better than Sorin. If anything, he was worse.

Ever since she met her mate, her world had been turned inside out. The once calm rhythm of her life had been replaced by chaos, her mind and heart consumed by one thought.....Sorin.

Her wolf was relentless, pacing inside her like a feral beast, growling and whining in frustration.

The bond was alive, tugging at her soul, demanding that she follow it, but Selene was trapped. Two agonizingly long weeks had passed since Sorin had left her, alone in the bed they had shared for only a fleeting moment.

Each day without him was torment, each night an endless cycle of longing and emptiness, she never felt before.

She sat by the large window in her oversized cabin, the only place where she could feel even the faintest semblance of peace. The moonlight poured through the glass, illuminating the dark forest beyond, but its beauty felt hollow.

The silence was deafening, broken only by the soft whines of her wolf and the erratic beat of her own heart.

Her fingers trembled as they traced on her neck, the place where Sorin's scent still lingered. It was fading, and the thought of losing even that small connection made her chest tighten painfully.

The memory of that night haunted her, the way Sorin's eyes had burned with intensity, the way his touch had sent shivers down Selene's spine, the way his voice had wrapped around her like a promise.

"I'll come back for you," Sorin had whispered, his voice low and filled with an emotion so raw it had left Selene breathless. "I swear, mate. You're mine, and nothing in this world will keep me from you."

But where was he now?

Selene let out a shuddering breath, her forehead pressing against the cold glass. Her wolf howled inside her, clawing at her chest, begging her to act. The bond was a cruel thing, a constant reminder of what she was missing, of who she was missing.

She knew it was selfish to think this way, but she couldn't help it. She needed her mate.

She wanted to feel her alpha's arms around her again, to hear the steady beat of his heart and know that she was safe. The way Sorin had looked at him, like she was the only thing that mattered in the world, had made her feel alive in a way she never had before.

Now, without him, it felt like a part of her had been ripped away, leaving a gaping hole that nothing could fill.

"I hate this," She whispered, voice trembling. "I hate feeling this way, again."

But it wasn't hatred, not really. It was longing...an unbearable, all consuming longing that refused to be silenced. She could still feel Sorin's warmth, hear the deep timbre of his voice, smell the intoxicating scent that was uniquely his. It was maddening, and yet she craved it.

She closed her eyes, a single tear slipping down her cheek as she whispered into the empty room, "I need you, Sorin. I can't… I can't do this without you. Please come soon.''

The words hung in the air, a desperate plea that no one would hear. Selene felt her wolf stir again, growling softly, as if urging her to act. But what could she do? Sorin was the True Blood Alpha, a figure of unimaginable power and responsibility.

She didn't want to be a burden, didn't want to distract him from his duties.

And yet, deep down, she couldn't shake the selfish desire to see him, to touch him, to feel the bond strengthen between them. Was it so wrong to want that? To want the one person who made her feel whole?

The doubt gnawed at her, but she shook her head fiercely. "No," she muttered to herself. "He'll come back. He promised."

But promises could be broken, couldn't they?

The thought made her chest ache, her fingers curling into fists as she fought back the wave of despair threatening to overwhelm her.

She hated this waiting, this agonizing limbo. But what choice did she have? His mate had responsibilities, a pack to lead, and even Selene couldn't just abandon her own pack to chase after him. All she could do was endure the pain, the emptiness, and the unbearable longing.

Because if there was one thing she knew with absolute certainty, it was that Sorin was worth every second of this torment. And when the day finally came that they were reunited, she would never let go.
