Alice's expression had lost any trace of softness, settling into something flat and unreadable when she heard the same question. Her brows drew together just enough to hint at the weight of whatever she was thinking, and her mouth was a firm, unyielding line. She didn't fidget, didn't glance away; her gaze stayed fixed, steady and level, as if she were measuring every word and every breath in the room.
"I don't know the reason... but it must be due to the fact that I adopted Jacob from Dana's orphanage," said Alice.
