500 years ago, the Earth was ruled by a powerful race called the Elementals. The Elementals wielded the powers of the elements, their elemental powers were not limited by those found in nature. Though the seven nature elements (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Light, and Dark) were held in higher regard, they were not at the top of the Elemental's hierarchy.
That title went to the Seven Kings the Supreme Colors. They each controlled a color element, a power that seemed mundane at first glance, but in reality it was a fearsome power that was capable of bringing destruction to any planet that they encountered.
Azure, Crimson, Jade and Lavender were know as the Lesser Kings, as even the Seven Kings had their own hierarchy. The Greater Kings were Black, White, and Gold. The three had the greatest powers in the universe.
For many centuries the three Kings battled for supremacy until eventually they agreed to join forces and rule the universe together. They ruled by way of a triumvirate. One would rule for a century then another the next and so on.
500 years ago it was the Black elemental's turn to rule over the empire. He was known to be a cruel tyrant, who ruled with an iron fist. The humans on Earth had suffered under his oppressive regime and had eventually raised the banner of rebellion against him.
However, as one would expect, the humans stood absolutely no chance at defeating the elementals. Just as they were ready to give up they had found a warrior capable of defeating the elementals. A young slave man who wielded the holy sword Balmung.
His name was Siegfried, and his strength was beyond reason. He single handedly slaughtered the elemental armies and even killed the Black elemental himself. After these devastating defeats the elementals decided to leave the Earth for good.
While he had saved the planet he had been drenched in the blood of the elementals and became the black elemental himself. The power ended up driving him crazy, so to protect the world from himself he sealed himself away.
With that, the elementals were gone from the planet, and the humans began to learn how to wield the elements themselves. After 500 years the Earth was now at a tentative peace, but the flames of war were smoldering on the horizon.
On the Western continent, in the Kingdom of Bohr their King received a disheartening report.
"Sire, our scouts have reports that the Eastern continent has been completely conquered. If nothing is done, our Kingdom might be their next target." The messenger reported.
"There's no way that we could defend ourselves against them." The Royal Advisor Claus said.
"I'm well aware of that, we need to gather the kings of the western continent. If we form a coalition with all of them we could deter any kind of invasion." King Branard replied.
The king sent his diplomats across the continent, but there were no guarantees that they would return with favorable news. He set out himself with a few of his close retainers. His destination was a small nation in the western steppes called Kei.
"Your Majesty, why are we going to Kei? As far as I'm aware, it's just a small country with a slave driving tyrant running it. I don't see the value in negotiating with such a man. Especially to come all the way out here in person." Claus said.
"That's because I had heard rumors from our intelligence division that Kei had gotten a new leader some time ago, and I believe that man would be a valuable ally." The king replied.
"I apologize for my bluntness today your majesty, but what use would we have for an unknown, upstart thug who overthrew the former king? There's no way the rest of the continent's kings would rally behind someone like that." Claus continued.
"Under normal circumstances, you'd definitely be 100% correct. However, these circumstances are far from normal."
"What do you mean by that sir?"
"The new King of Kei is not unknown, nor is he an upstart. Moreover, he would most definitely not be considered a thug. In fact, the King of Kei is someone that you've definitely heard of before."
"I'm sure that I don't know who you could be talking about."
The king smirked at his response. "Apparently, the current King of Kei is; the legendary hero Siegfried!"
